THE BROWNS BOARD

Meanwhile, the steelers suck, and Hoyer is the best NFL long ball qb

Um....no. Hoyer is good but far from the best deep baller. He has made long completions yes, but he lacks the strength to hit receivers on the run down the field like the elite QBs

Huh... I would have sworn that I saw Hoyer hit Cam running down the field Sunday... ;)

He's never going to throw it 70 yards, but has thrown it 55 and that is more than enough given his PAP skills.

Im a Hoyer fan 100%, but do admit his long throws aren't really stellar. His 2 HUGE plays...the first one to Cameron and the one to Hawkins in the NO game, were way way under thrown and should have been TD's.

YES,yes yes...they were GREAT plays and I'll take those plays everytime!!!....everytime....But if you're being honest, they woulda, shoulda, coulda been touchdowns if thrown well.....he's arm is adequate, but it's not great....

Agree... those throws weren't stellar, but both were instances where I believe Hoyer thinks "completion first". Might even be coached to think that as well.

As I said Sunday I loved it when Green criticized BH and went on to explain how you want to lead a receiver when he's as open as Cam was, and then later Ben overthrew a wide open WR in the endzone and Green explained how that was bad.

Between those two choices... I'll take underthrown and complete any day of the week...

... and twice on Sundays. ;)

On the other hand the second throw to Cam for his TD was stellar.

Yup... adequate arm on a strong QB... nice for a change isn't it?

Yep.....Ill take it too....

Seems we have better luck with smart QB's that have average physical skills(Sipe/Kosar) compared to good physical QB's with average smarts(Vinny/Couch/Anderson/Quinn)......:)

your ilk of a human being qb has been overrated for years,

He just had a ton of talent around him. Now? Not so much on

either side of the ball.

Therefore, he is losing. Got sacked twice in a row. Aw, too bad, no Hines Ward to bail him out,

no dominating defense to help him look like a winner.

Hoyer has been underrated. Therefore, it's far more impressive and newsworthy.

And, ...it's.......our........BROWNSBOARD. I figure you don't have a dynamic squealer board to dwell on...

since far too many steeler fans are boring, trolls, or just poor sports.

I don't know what the current stats are but I know prior to the game last week Big Ben was the leader of that category.....I wonder how much it would have meant if someone told you that last week?

At least as much as it does now...

Zilch!

lol...

Yes very true. Just pointing out that he doesn't have the Manning Rogers arm. I'll definetly take the safe 40 yard completion

Manning isn't necessarily strong armed.. but more than good enough.

Wee-done "if I only had a brain". Mike Phipps- another strong armed washout.

You guys are (mostly) too young to remember Frank Ryan, Bill Nelson, & Milt Plum. For those that don't know- Ryan was so smart he had a PhD, and taught math @ Case Western after he retired.

Maybe he was talking about Eli...

Nelson probably had the weakest arm in that bunch, but was probably the toughest, the best leader and had a pretty good football mind.

I think Milt probably had the best arm, but less of the other qualities and never called plays as a Brown.

Dr. Frank was the best blend. Can't recall for sure if Blanton let him call plays, but want to say he did.

Factoid #1: Ernie Green also went to work for CWRU after he retired.

Factoid #2: Ernie is a breast cancer survivor.

You hit the nail on the head. It's clear when Hoyer sees a guy wide open he wants to make completely sure it doesn't at least result in a big gain. Say what you will about that but it's a nice change of pace to even see guys wide open down the field yet alone making them big completions. The reason this doesn't bother me though is because for the first time in forever I feel like the Browns can actually punch the ball in if a play is stopped on the 6-10 yard line in a goal to go. Previous years when that happened it was a 'can't wait for a field goal' moment.

Hoyer even said this (at least after the NO game). Dude was so wide open that he just went for the easiest possible completion.

His throw to Cameron last week was across the field and he didn't step up into it.

His arm strength is plenty good enough for an NFL QB. I don't think there's many throws he can't make because he doesn't have the arm.

Yeah Hoyer's arm is good enough to make the deep throws- the difference between him and the Elways of the world is deep ball velocity. The gunslingers get the ball point A to point B quicker. Of course even if you have a rocket launcher arm (Wee-done) doesn't much matter if you don't know how to use it.

Yes... that is when any lack of arm strength shows... when pressured into a back-foot throw.

Doesn't matter whether the pressure is due to a rush or him rushing.
