Donovan McNabb is headed to the Redskins

Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on April 4, 2010 8:12 PM ET

So much for the Washington Redskins' quiet offseason.

In an insanely gutsy move, the Philadelphia Eagles have agreed to trade Donovan McNabb to the Redskins, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. This is not a belated April Fool's joke.

The Eagles have quickly confirmed the move. Philadelphia will receivedthe No. 37 overall pick in the 2010 draft and either a third or fourth round pick in 2011.

It hurts our chances to an extent but Safety is not a serious need for Washington but O-Line is!!! We still stand the same chance of getting Berry. Well as i see it there is 4 teams(Buffalo, St. Louis, Oakland) including us in need of a QB and there is 4 solid prospects: Bradford, Clausen, McCoy, Tebow). So this helps us drafting one of these guys.

This only hurts out chances of getting berry.

well, I almost think this may improve our chances believe it or not. If Tampa decides to pass on him, the only other team i truly thought would take him was the seahawks, just my opinion. Now, with Clausen probably off the redskins board (who knows but) i could see the seahawks eying Clausen there at number 6.

This actually significantly hurts our chances for Berry, but not for the reason most of you all think. The Skins will now draft Okung meaning he wont be there for KC to draft. If Pioli and the Chiefs don't reach to grab the second rated LT (whoever that may be on their board) then they would take Berry. The same holds true for Seattle, who would have to take the 3 rated LT

Let me illustrate

The Draft As Most Saw It Yesterday

1. St Louis - Bradford

2. Detroit - Suh

3. Tampa - G. McCoy

4. Skins - Clausen

5. Chiefs - Okung

6. Seattle - Trent Williams

7. Cleveland - Berry

The Draft Post-McNabb

1. St Louis - Bradford

2. Detroit - Suh

3. Tampa - G. McCoy

4. Skins- Okung

5. Chiefs - Berry / Williams

6. Seattle - Berry / Williams

7. Cleveland - who the heck knows.....pray to God not Clausen

We have to pray that Seattle reaches for Bryan Bulaga or super reach for Spiller if we are to get Berry without moving up

Maybe we make a trade with the Redskins for the fourth pick. It could happen, they might be looking to move back now.

That is what I am hoping for at this point

Going by the draft value chart its going to take our earliest 3rd round selection to trade with the Skins. I am all for it, because I really don't see any value, with our needs, there for us at 7 if Berry is off the board

trading up to the #4 slot may be a little steep for a safety.. i love berry but safeties get injured like no other in the nfl because of their size and nature of their position. not only would we be giving up a lot to move ahead 3 spots, but it would be for a player in a position that most experts think shouldnt be picked in the top 10... now if bradford were there at 4, that would be a different story...

I could see Shanahan goin for Dez Bryant to give Mcnabb some weapons. He brought Marshall to Denver with character concerns.

1. St Louis - Bradford

2. Detroit - Okong

3. Tampa - G. McCoy

4. Skins - Bryant

5. Chiefs - Bulaga

6. Seattle - Clausen

7. Cleveland- Suh/Berry

One can dream, this is very possible though

Unless we are trading up for Bradford or Suh i dont wanna trade up in the first. I will absolutely puke everywhere if we trade up for Clausen. If Clausen falls to us I am fine with drafting him but the last thing i wanna see is us draft a crappy QB then give up a 2nd on top of it!!!

ABSOLUTELY NOT! The Redskins will go offensive line, no question about it. If Bradford goes No.1, Berry will be there unless someone who really likes him trades up.

2. Lions - McCoy

3. Buccaneers - Suh

4 - 6. All offensive tackles unless someone trades up for a QB.

7. Berry

Also, I am surprised nobody has mentioned the best part about this trade is Colt McCoy will be there for us in the second round! Washington really liked him in the second round and picked before us, but that will not happen now. This trade has really helped us.

I agree. If we trade up to the #4, it will only be if Bradford is on the board still, not for Berry.

Also, KC won't draft Berry if he's on the board for them, because Pioli doesn't think Safety is a position you draft top 10.

Well, Clausen is gonna fall like a rock now. Seattle may take him but I see it more likely that they'll reach for Spiller there. Berry is the great unknown at this point. I'm not sure if anyone knows what will haooen in the top 7 but here's my revised list due to recent developements.

1. Bradford

2. Okung

3. Suh

4. Bulaga

5. G. McCoy

6. Spiller

7. Berry

The problem here is, if this scenerio plays out like this, Colt will not be there in the 2nd for us. If we want him, we may have to give up some more picks to move up. Or, would I would rather see is our original plan of finding a guy in the 3rd or later.

Well, after years of booing their perennial Pro Bowl QB leading their otherwise mediocre team to the NFC Championship Game every other year, Philly fans finally get what they deserve. McNabb is awesome, and deserves to play in a city that will actually appreciate him.

I'm gonna laugh when Philly goes 6-10 next year under their beloved savior Kolb, maybe then they'll realize what they had in McNabb.

I agree that McNabb is their now QB and they know that they he will only be serviceable for a couple of years, and Campbell isn't their future, I still think they take a QB somewhere in their early picks! Colt has got to still be in their sites.

Donovan McNabb trade affects Browns too

April 4, 9:55 PMCleveland Browns Examiner

Browns GM Tom Heckert will contend with his former team when the NFL Draft begins in three weeks.

Photo courtesy of the Cleveland Plain DealerDonovan McNabb is heading to the Nation's Capital.

The Washington Redskins acquired the six-time Pro Bowl quarterback from the Philadelphia Eagles for a second round draft pick in 2010 and a conditional fourth round pick in 2011.

The Eagles trade of McNabb to division rival Washington will directly impact the power structure of the NFC East.

It will also indirectly affect one team in the AFC North.

With the acquisition of the 37th overall pick and the 70th overall pick gained from Seattle last year, the Eagles now pick directly in front of the Cleveland Browns who sit at 38 and 71.

Considering Browns GM Tom Heckert spent the past six years running the draft in Philadelphia, so there is bound to be interesting interaction between the two clubs.

Making matters more interesting, Heckert brought the draft and scouting information with him from Philadelphia to Cleveland.

"I have the stuff that I've done this year," he admitted in a February press conference.

Such a situation presents a double-edged sword for the Browns.

On one hand, Cleveland should have an in-depth understanding of what Philadelphia may look to do with their picks. The Browns could move up or down according to whom they believe will be available when they pick in the second and third rounds.

At the same time, drafting behind a team with a similar board decreases the chance of a specific player falling to the Browns.

Consequentially, they may be forced to move ahead two slots at a cost which otherwise would not have had to be paid.

It remains to be seen whether the McNabb trade hurts or helps the Browns.

Like it or not, Cleveland and Philadelphia will be tied together come draft weekend - a weekend which just became that much more interesting.

I agree.....Berry isn't the type of player you trade up for....at least when you are a team with as many issues as we have.

Now matter how the draft falls through the first 6 picks, we are still going to have several players who will be good and fit a current hole.
