Lets just hope, we never get to play against Weeden. He may kill us. Haha, just kidding, I wish we played him everyweek. underhand tosses and missing his 5 yrd outs by a mile. I am so damn glad he is gone from here.

It would not surprise me to see Weeden become a fair backup.

He's not going to win a lot of games for you, but I think if you put him in a low pressure situation he could be passable.

I actually wanted us to hold onto him as our 3rd stringer - he's going into his third year, just maybe he could hold a lead for us if the need arose.

Well, we've Hoyer, Tanney, and whoever else they pick up in the next few weeks - we're moving forward and I can't say I've seen a whole lot the new FO has fumbled on yet.

Yea Orton's way better. Orton's almost starter worthy.

According to Eric Edholm (not certain if that is a reliable source):

"Before you scoff at reports that 30-year-old Brandon Weeden has signed a contract with the Dallas Cowboys – two easy targets in one if there ever was one – consider this haunting possibility:

If the Cowboys can part ways with DeMarcus Ware for a bloated contract this offseason, what's to stop them from doing the same next year with Tony Romo and his projected salary-cap number of $27.7 million?

That could mean Weeden is your favorite — as of now — to be the Cowboys' Week 1 starter, circa September 2015. Current Cowboys backup Kyle Orton reportedly has wavered on his decision to come back next season, so that puts Weeden in play to be Romo's backup this season and at least in consideration to start if he does well and Romo is gone. Think about that a minute."

The whole write-up is here:

Why does that say "before you scoff"?

Saw this earlier and immediately called my son-in-law (a Cowboy fan).

No answer so I tried to leave a message, but most of it was probably unintelligible due to uncontrollable laughter.

It could mean that the Cowboys are going to pull and Indianapolis Colts ploy and purposely lose just about every game in order to secure the #1 overall pick and then take Jamis Winston the following year.

Orton was the starter for Chicago for a bit. Weeden signed a two year contract. does that give us money back to our CAP?

We get nothing back against the cap because Holmgren's crew fucked up the contract.

Thanks again, Fatty Arbuckle.

That was the initial word, but Grossi just corrected that here :

But because Weeden’s contract with the Browns did contain “offset” language -- ESPN Cleveland has confirmed -- he will not enjoy the “double dip” of collecting full salary amounts from the Cowboys and Browns, if he makes the Cowboys’ final roster.

The issue of “offset language” is a major sticking point in contracts for players taken in the first round. The insistence on offset language by former GM Tom Heckert means that the Browns' guaranteed money owed Weeden will be offset by the salaries paid by the Cowboys.

. . .

(Ed. note: An earlier version of this story has incorrect information.)

So we do get a little money back on him :)
