Unsympathetic
Americans hate confederate symbols because everything Confederate is the symbols of treason, the flags of traitors. Confederates are explicitly and deliberately anti-American. The question isn't "why do Americans hate Confederates" but rather "Why do Confederates hate America." You revolted - take responsibility for your action. 100% of the mythology about Confederate "symbols" is incorrect. Americans hate Confederates because each and every Confederate was expressly AGAINST the bill of rights. Confederate leaders said so - explicitly - in the Cornerstone Speech. If you don't know about that, time to learn. "Our new government is founded upon exactly [this] idea; its foundations are laid, its corner- stone rests upon the great truth, that the negro is not equal to the white man; that slavery -- subordination to the superior race -- is his natural and normal condition." Confederates are explicitly racists, pure and simple.. in fact the sole originating premise for the existence of the Confederacy is white superiority over blacks. Don't like it? Tough. Scoreboard, loser. Quit defending your participation trophies and get on with your life.

calfoxwc
so many pictures to post, so little time. Just one more, to counter unsymp's ignorant and offensive/false labeling of all confederate flag supporters being "racists". You can take that hateful, liberal false narrative (as usual) and shove it. And have a nice day.
OldBrownsFan
Evil sometimes is what you make of it. Especially when it comes to symbols. For years I saw the confederate flag more as just a symbol of rebellion and saw many rock bands in the 70's as well as the Dukes of Hazzard use that flag not in any type of racist manner. However today I see the flag as being taken over by the KKK and white supremacists and when I see that flag now that is the image I get. I would never have one myself because it has come to represent the KKK and white supremacists. Now the KKK and white supremacists are doing the same with confederate statues. Good people can differ on this issue but when the KKK and white supremacists get involved for keeping the statues it hurts the cause of those who are not racists and want the statues to remain for other reasons . JPPT1974
Really both sides were just as violence. As you need to always end a fight. Not start it. Or continue to let it go on. And where were the police as they needed to stop it. Even though last weekend in VA they were overwhelmed.

So on the average how many nights a week were you unable to sleep because of your outrage over these statues before some idiot on the news told you how miserable you were? I think I posted something like this before but I don't see it in the new format. WSS
