After Shurmur/ Jauron took us to a 4-3 with a 3-4 roster, we assembled a 4-3 roster just in time for Chud/ Horton to force fit us back into and 3-4. While we are closer to a legit 3-4 roster now, I thought for sure that in Pettine's "fit the system to the personnel" hybrid that we'd run a lot more 4-3... Maybe we will... choco Posted August 21, 2014 Report Share Posted August 21, 2014 So....why does it matter so much if...for example.....sheard is rushing from a three point versus standing up? The same play can be called either way....so does it really matter if its 3-4/4-3 if 4 are rushing either way? Point being....this D will utilize players strengths. If AB and sheard prefer being down, O'Neil will play them as such. To illustrate the point, mingo is playing over sheard basically due to his coverage.....he's more well rounded and at least has a chance to stay with a back...maybe a weaker pass rusher. Sheard can't cover. This league is boiling down to how well a coach can read his players and put them in a position to succeed. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
