THE BROWNS BOARD

DeShaun Watson needs to be BROWNS PRIME TARGET

What are the similarities?

exactly.

RGIV never sniffed any kind of a championship.

Watson got his ass kicked in that first half against a defense stocked with NFL talent. He could have just packed it in. But he stayed calm, took what they gave him and when Billybama started getting tired he started taking advantage.

sure i was being sarcastic. No qb can save the browns. BUT THIS IS THE GUY!

Not particularly accurate. Espcially on deep balls.Trying to be a pocket passer. Running? Ha, suppose you saw the helicopter. Randall Cunningham he ain't. Damn, me & Gip are getting scary, if I'm seeing RG IV too.

Yeah, as our astue TexAg noted Clemson won that game on a couple illegal pick plays that didn't get called. Credit the offensive coordinator for calling them, and blame 'Bamas defensive coordinator for not adjusting. There's a ton of scouts (not just me) that question if his game will translate to the NFL. I predicted yesterday if Watson had a decent game, guys would start slobbering all over him.

I disagree about his short and mid accuracy, he shows more than enough capability to put the ball where he's intending for it to go. His deep ball is iffy, however.

I fail to see how a helicopter hit at the end of a 15 yard run means he's not a runner. He rushed for 1100 yards and 12 TDs last year, averaging 5.3 YPC. He is equally as mobile as Cam Newton, Aaron Rodgers and Andrew Luck.

I'm not in the Watson camp as of now, but he is impressive and warrants a more in depth look for sure.

He's almost nothing like RG3 outside the fact that he's black and has run zone read at times in his college career. RG3 made his nut on 50 yard scrambles and gigantic throws or check downs. He benefitted from an offensive that was simply faster than everyone else.

No. No he doesn't need to be the Browns primary target.

You know what, I have a great idea. Lets wait and see for a few weeks. Watson, if he is smart, will be at the Senior Bowl. Both guys will go to the combine and have pro days. Experts and fans alike will have time to look at highlights. I think last night, Watson put his name into the consideration and the Browns will be giving him even more of a peek.

I'll agree he needs a more thorough look, as if the Browns won't take thorough looks at any qb they deem draft worthy. I brought up the helicopter because that was essentially a "welcome to the NFL" shot he's going to be taking on a regular basis if he runs too much. He's not Cam Newton size to be taking those kind of hits. Though his toughness was duly noted- he took some big time shots, as well as getting pancaked by Jonathan Allen. Yeah, he was pretty accurate on the short dump offs, and intermediate stuff, but then again so is Cody Kessler. He certainly benefited having a (probable) first round wr in Williams too.

Please Hue, if he plays in the Senior Bowl, don't feel that earth moving again. Not at #1.

I will not debate Watson probably made himself a couple million extra bucks come draft day with that performance.

One question... albeit a compound one:

Who saw him go beyond his first read last night and how many times did you see it?

When he wasn't looking at obvious pre snap pressure? I can think of about 8. Of course several of those were just checking the safety over Williams. Was his second read pre determined or based on coverage? That's another question I have.

That said, there were a couple times I remember when he never left his primary against pressure.

Edit. Only saw about a 1/3 of the game. 8 was a bit generous. Maybe half dozen.

for all that just say RGIII pt 2.....

lets remember that our coach LOVES RGIII.....and also drafted Pryor to be his QB in his last HC stint.....so wouldnt surprise me one tiny bit if he wanted Watson......

In fact.....I wonder why he goes for a guy like RGIII, then drafts a Kessler the same year.....why not at least "try" to have similar QB's to operate your system???......never made sense to me.......

He might as well sign Tyrod and draft Watson, then we'd have a full stable of run first crapola QB's////

this guy will be the messaiah for C-town!

Jesus....we're taking QB advice from the guy who spent years slobbering over Derek Anderceptions dick? The long lost idiots who have resurfaced this week make me wish the board had shut down.

Unbelievable anybody would say these words. Every dam year the same jackasses want another qb. Let's try fixing the rest of the team first for once..

Looks like the OP just might be a Clemson fan. I hope this isn't as bad as the invasion of A&M fans when Johnny came to town.

He also made a play for Colin Kaepernick. So does DeShaun Watson have a bad attitude?
