You'll notice that everyone is hiring people- except for who else. The Browns. We will get sloppy seconds.

We'll probably end up with John DeFilippo who was the QB coach in Oakland last season.

Browns interviewed him last year and really liked him but they wanted a more seasoned guy in the end.

There was an article @ the Browns site that listed 9 candidates....3 of them, Gailey - Callahan and Linehan are gone....not sure how high on the list they even were.....but 6 are still out there....

Gotta give this FO credit for having minimal leakage....been awful quiet.....if Lombardi and Banner were here, we'd know EVERYTHING....HA!

Kubiak and Elway, they go back as bud's a long time. Fox stayed out of the Offense and Left it to Case and Manning. And this is really where I don't know how Good Case is due to Manning could walk to the line and call anything Peyton see's. If David Cuttcliff (at Duke), Peyton's real QB coach can solve arm issue, I can see a power issue with Elway and Kubiak Vs. Manning and Case. Really think Elway is moving away from Manning [as what I've read, but did not believe} and Case is in Limbo.

I'm not crying over any that got away so far. There is still a mix of proven talent and up-and-coming promise available. As pointed out above, we may well be leaning towards the latter in the form of OAK's QB Coach, DeFilippo, and I'd be fine with that.

The proven-talent route did not end well this past year.

So if it's all about the quarterback who cares who is OC?

It is a team game.....and coaches are part of the team....and it helps that the QB and OC are on the same page. A bad OC can fuck up a good QB I suspect. A good QB may possibly make a bad QB mediocre and a mediocre QB look good.

But it seems to me your position has been that many of the most successful teams actually suck, and their coaches suck except for the fact that they have a great quarterback. So again why in the world when we want an offensive coordinator from a team that has a great quarterback? It would seem they had little or nothing to do with the success of the team, no?

(so Pittsburgh Baltimore New England Denver Dallas New Orleans Seattle Green Bay Indianapolis etc should be the last place we look for OC.)

It seems like, for a lot of folks, if you're associated with a great team...no matter what you are, coach, player, GM....then you are GREAT!

And, if you are associated with a bad team(unless you''re SPECTACULAR), then if you are a coach, player or GM....you SUCK BALLS!!

I sometimes think there are GM's that think greatness actually rubs off.....hahaha....

Yeah... I would agree that being in that environment for a long time would help him develop....but he certainly isnt great or tom brady....and mallet is getting the same treatment....so, yes, players cut from good teams get more looks for sure...

More what Im saying is that good players(on GREAT teams) get elevated to great status. But when they find themselves on a bad team or another team(with that huge contract and expectations), all of a sudden they become average again........and that goes for coaches too...
