Hey the Indians come through again well sorta' 2016 Kluber the WP the Tribe ends up with home field throughout, 2017 Miller gets the save in 10....but that was a who cares game, meaningless like the old days.

Go back to the meaningful All Star games? I say yes.

OAKLAND -- Lonnie Chisenhall enjoyed a breakout showing in the first half for the Indians. His second half has already hit a snag.

The Indians plan on placing Chisenhall on the disabled list on Friday, when the team will open a six-game road trip through Oakland and San Francisco. Manager Terry Francona, who rejoined the team after recovering from a minor heart procedure, said Chisenhall would likely miss "a few weeks" with a right calf injury.

With Chisenhall sidelined, Francona said the Indians will recall Triple-A outfielder Tyler Naquin, who was already with the team in Oakland for Thursday's voluntary workout. Cleveland could be without Chisenhall and second baseman Jason Kipnis for the rest of July.

"[Chisenhall] and Kip were back over the break, working, getting some work in every day," Francona said. "So, [Naquin] will be here. This is where the experience comes into play and is an advantage. We all know him. He knows us."

Chisenhall exited Sunday's game against the Tigers in the fourth inning due to the calf injury. That setback came after Cleveland lost Kipnis to a strained right hamstring one day earlier and placed him on the 10-day DL on Sunday.

Through 64 games this season, Chisenhall has posted a .305/.376/.578 slash line to go with 12 home runs, 13 doubles and 29 runs scored. Chisenhall's 51 RBIs (in only 216 plate appearances) led the team in the season's first half. The outfielder missed a little over a week to open the season while on the DL with a right shoulder issue.

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Indians open the second half tonight in Oakland with second baseman Jason Kipnis and rightfielder Lonnie Chisenhall on the disabled list.

Will Kipnis or Chisenhall be missed more?

We asked that as part of our video debate series Prepare for List Off.

Cleveland.com sports columnist Doug Lesmerises thinks it's Chisenhall. Since Chisenhall leads the team in RBI that's hard to argue.

But I do anyway. You can judge how successfully.

My expectation for Kipnis is he'll be better in the second half than he was in the first, and that not having him requires a bigger adjustment in the infield than losing Chisenhall for any length of time in the outfield.

Kipnis is the better player, though obviously Chisenhall is having the better season.

Chisenhall has good numbers against lefthanders this season but that's probably because they use him against lefties judiciously.

Hear us out, then come back and tell us who got it right.

A pair of right-handers face off in the first game back from the All-Star break, as Oakland's Sonny Gray takes on Cleveland's Carlos Carrasco at Oakland Coliseum on Friday.

Carrasco is putting together yet another steady season, as he'll begin the second half with a 10-3 record and a 3.44 ERA. He has seen another uptick in his curveball usage, throwing it 17 percent of the time in 2017 after utilizing it 14.9 percent of the time in 2016. He threw it just 7.9 percent in 2015.

Carrasco has been stronger on the road this season than he has been at home. In nine road starts, the Indians righty is 7-1 with a 2.38 ERA and has only allowed two home runs. At home, he is 3-2 with a 4.69 ERA and 10 homers allowed.

Gray has been solid since he gave up seven earned runs over 4 2/3 innings at Cleveland on May 30, posting a 3.45 ERA in his last seven starts since.

The 27-year-old right-hander is coming off a winning effort against the White Sox in which he allowed two runs on three hits and struck out five in seven quality innings.

Things to know about this game

• Gray is making his seventh career start against the Indians. He is 2-2 with a 4.00 ERA and 35 strikeouts in 36 career innings vs. Cleveland.

• Gray may shutter whenever Michael Brantley steps in the batter's box. The All-Star left fielder is hitting .429 in 15 career plate appearances against Gray in his career.

• Opposing teams shouldn't expect much scoring in third inning off Carrasco, his splits indicate. He has only surrendered one run in the third inning all season.

There's absolutely no spark on this team, way too hot and cold. The offense sucks this year.

Hate to say it, but they don't have the look of a contender at all.
