Draft Grades thread

Cleveland Browns
Draft picks: Corey Coleman (No. 15 overall), Emmanuel Ogbah (No. 32 overall), Carl Nassib (No. 65 overall), Shon Coleman (No. 76 overall), Cody Kessler (No. 93 overall)
Day 1 grade: B
Day 2 grade: A
Overall grade: A-
The skinny: Connecting Robert Griffin III with his former teammate, Corey Coleman, makes a lot of sense. Getting four extra picks to move down eight spots is a good deal, if you buy into the "more is more" theory when it comes to accumulating selections. Only capitalizing on the extra selections will make it a great deal.

Building on the lines was a high priority, and they did just that on day two. Ogbah and Nassib will bring it in the front seven. Coleman needs to tighten up his technique but has a chance to be a bulldozer at right tackle.

grading a draft already? how about give it 3 years?

we as fans have all thought players the browns have picked will be 'building on the lines' or 'bring it in the front 7' and all have sucked dick. and they bigger named dick suckers than these chumps sashi and co. have adorned us with so far this year.

PFF's Day 2 grades for us...

1 (32). Cleveland Browns: Emmanuel Ogbah | Grade: B+

There was a lot of talk that the Browns would trade the pick, but they grab one of the best pass rushers in the draft in Ogbah, owner of the No. 3 pass rush grade in the class. He’s not as strong against the run as you’d like given his size and length, but the Browns got burst off the edge in Ogbah.

2 (65). Cleveland Browns: Carl Nassib | Grade: B+

One of the most productive edge defenders in the nation last year (+35.6 overall, 11th in class), Nassib dominated Senior Bowl week after pushing the pocket all fall for Penn State. He’s powerful at the point of attack, and even though he doesn’t have the change of direction skills scouts look for on the edge, he’s a disruptor who can win with his hands.

13 (76). Cleveland Browns: Shon Coleman | Grade: B-

(Pick acquired in trade with Tampa Bay Buccaneers)

It’s always difficult to evaluate offensive linemen in Auburn’s system, but Coleman had an impressive +27.5 overall grade that ranked sixth in the class. He can move linemen at the point of attack and while pass protection is always a projection coming from Auburn he’s shown the necessary skills and only surrendered 10 pressures in all of 2015.

31 (93) Cleveland Browns: Cody Kessler | Grade: B-

(Pick acquired in trade with Carolina Panthers)

One of the most accurate quarterbacks in the class, Kessler ranked third with a 78.2 percent accuracy percentage while finishing fourth with a 68.5 percent accuracy percentage under pressure. He struggled with passes beyond 20 yards (31st in accuracy percentage at 37.5 percent) but Kessler can run the offense and move the chains at the short and intermediate level.

I've got a "grade"...

Ozzie and the Ravens are quietly putting together the best draft in the AFCN... maybe the AFC... And they started with next to nothing. Had only 5 or 6 picks when Goff's name was called.

Love what the Bills have done

I've been seeing way worse grades, but like others have said, have to wait a few years. Trading out of the back to back 3rd rounders infuriated me. And Cody Kessler? REALLY?

If we are grading on character, I think we would be high. If we are grading on media attention, I think we would be very low. If someone is trying to grade on football skills at the NFL level; then, they are just full of it since none of the prospects have shown any skill at the NFL level and it is all guessing. I get it, we all have our own opinions about the prospects but I am not ready to call this a bust just because Hue and the gang did not go for the media kids. I am not saying they made good choices but I can't say they made bad choices yet either. Just saying.

Ya know I agree with you here, Joe.

I was a little bit disappointed we didn't grab any of those players who have been in the spotlight but none of the kids we took seem like anything less than good people and quality players. I was mistaken with my prediction and that's a good thing. Not sold on Sashi Brown and this whole Analytics crap in particular, but hope that I'll be proved wrong there too.

We didnt draft a qb at pick 22 in the 1st. We will be fine. If 5 of the 14 players taken yesterday make impacts on this team, thats a win. The bigger win was getting the extra picks for next years draft. Baltimore drafts well most of the time, thats why they are also in the Playoffs. Anyone can grade a draft, what the media draft guys are projecting is the "same old Browns". Let this front office do its thing for 3 years and then we can see how they did. I for one am looking for RG3 to have a historic comeback year and be our QB for the next 10 years. If he pans out, that will make future drafts that much easier. If he dont pan out this year, we draft another one next year.

I wonder what they graded Tom Brady back then? Probably a C- And who graded Gilbert and Manziel? These Sports analysts like Mel Kiper Jr get kick backs. Of course the media will never tell you that! But Kiper rated Jimmy Clausen a top ten and fooled the Panthers into drafting him.

Got a good hammering from McShay and Kiper

McShay said Ogbah was a reach ....WTF really

And Kiper gave us a C and basically said we suck while raving about his beloved Ravens .......if we and the Ravens swapped drafts Kiper's grades would of been the same

Well Tour was raving about the Ravens draft and I don't think they are beloved to him.

Anyway we spend too much time getting pissed off when prognosticator predict Doom and Gloom and suckioity.

If and when we prove them wrong it will be that much more fun.

Yea, I heard him this morning saying the Ravens got guys to fill their needs.......yet the Browns get guys to fill their needs....and give gives them a bad grade. Purely homerville.

It's always safe to say a team that tends to have winning

seasons had a real good draft.

and a team that has losing seasons can draft great, but it

isn't really great because the team is still not a winner.

I keep seeing the rankings as not taking red flags/character/work ethic/football IQ/love for the game..

into consideration. Gilbert was ranked way high...

the Browns have been burned by that so often... and they didn't make that mistake in this draft.

That should warrant an "A+" right there.

Man, if you don't like and feel good about where we are going after this 17:30 video, then I don't know what else you could want.

Yup... I liked the Ravens draft... as any traditional draft follower should.

The Cleveland Browns are no longer traditional drafters and thus will be hated by the Kipers and McShays of the world.

Look at who loves (or at least like) our draft... analytics sites like PFF.

Purely homerville.

Nah... not homer, just stuck in a different system of evaluating and valuing players... As is everyone here.
