Ok....look....Ive been bitchin and very unhappy all season.....instead of listing the reasons, Ill lay a blanket over it all by saying I havent been seeing anything good.....meaning all I could talk about was what I saw and all I saw was baddd....

So.......i have been looking for some kernels....and this week, I actually found a few.....

Yep....thats right,,,,,saw a few things that made me happy, in that heaping festering pile we laid on Sunday.....

So....from the bottom of my heart....here are a few things that made me smile.....

1) Hue finally gave Higgins and DeValve some reps and targets.....was just bitchin about that this past week....and wa laa.....they answered my wish....(and how long before he realizes Louis aint lighting it up?)

2) Kirksey and Collins making plays. Nice. Ive been wanting linebackers who tackle for soooo long now.....and if Davis ever steps up to expectation, we might be getting somewhere....

3) Boddy Calhoun has made plays several weeks in a row now....plus an early season pick 6.....maybe they found another KWaun type of player?.....udfa baller?.....tho....something about him reminds me of skrine.....scrappy...

4) One of the best things was that the Defense showed up in the second half....never mind that the O never showed up....but it is a step forward, cause it's the first time Ive seen it....props to the D for finally playing almost a decent game....

5) Cooper didnt drop a ball & Nassib had 3 tackles....both positive steps....;)

and thats all I got......

Holy crap, it's like the Grinch's heart growing lol...

I agree on Boddy-Calhoun and the LBs.

At 0-12, and the last 4 stink bomb games, it's hard to be positive. I handled yesterday way better than the Steeler game for sure ( we HAVE to cheap-shot Timmons in week 17, send a message that we give a F).

Maybe the BYE allows the team to gather itself a bit, and come out with a good performance against Cincy....

That game may decide whether the Steelers make the playoffs. You don't want to be committing unnecessary penalties.

Besides, cheap shotting Timmons will only make him mad.

The D showed up and played to its ability for 3 quarters, which is a step up from 2. I'm discounting the second there, and otherwise they only gave up 7 points in the other three quarters, and that was at the end of the game where we were trying to get the ball back.

Still in need of a top end pass rusher as we still fail to generate pressure, and still in need of a free safety and probably another corner. But that's three players and could be achieved quite easily - one FA (please please eric berry...!), two draft?

Yep, after a mid-season lull I'm feeling optimistic again somehow.

Just a question for you...his hit on Kessler (that knocked him out of the game), cheap shot or not?

I thought it was. The Browns just let it go, which was irritating as hell.

He probably meant Coleman, just had a typo.

Shelton also had another nice game, and his motor is better. Even the announcers were raving about him.

As you said, the defense played better for almost an entire game. Honestly, they gave up like 17 points, right? That HAS to be enough.

It was good to see Coleman back in the end zone, and it was even better to see HOW it happened. Coleman ran a beautiful route, and faked inside HARD before peeling out to the corner. It wasn't like there was a busted coverage. Coleman got open, and our QB fired a damn bullet. TOUCHDOWN. My concern regarding Coleman is that he seems to disappear for large portions of the game. What I DON'T know is the cause. Is it because our QB play is so bad? Our OL play is too poor? Because our QB locks onto Pryor too often? Whatever the reason, Coleman has to make plays every quarter, and we have to GET HIM THE BALL. When we drafted him, I had visions of Coleman making big plays. Taking ordinary passes and turning them into long plays. Not all the time of course, but every ONCE IN A WHILE, right? We have seen that happen exactly ZERO TIMES this season. But don't worry, Taylor Gabriel is making highlight reel plays in Atlanta. *eye roll*

Defensively, we took a few steps forward. I also want to point out that Jamar Taylor had an exceptional game. He was on the Giants' rookie playmaker Shepard ALL game, and his only yards came on a nifty reverse (god FORBID we run one of those with Pryor or Coleman).

Offensively, I'm beyond angry. Losing Greco removed ANY chance of winning the game, as Bailey is a train wreck. Immediately after the amazing bomb to Pryor from our 3 yard line, Bailey had a false start, and then I think gave up the pressure which caused the fumble/TD. Well, those plays were after the RIDICULOUS fullback screen that lost 4 yards. And I want to talk about that shit for a minute. I understand calling the screen pass after a huge gain, and against a team having success rushing our QB. I really do. BUT HOW MANY EFFECTIVE SCREEN PASSES HAVE WE RUN THIS YEAR??!! Either our QB has to spike the ball in the dirt because the D knows it's coming, or we lose yards. Hell, we've even given up a safety on a stupid screen pass. Hue Jackson prides himself on being a good play-caller, but I haven't been that impressed. Yes, I realize he doesn't have a ton of talent, and yes I understand his OL isn't playing great, AND YES I understand we can't ever RUN THE BALL, but Jesus H Christ Hue! We get down in the red zone, and we run Duke and then run Crow? REALLY? Did ANYBODY think Crow was magically going to punch it in when we can't run block AT ALL? And WTF was that one 3rd down call? Spread the defense out and just hope somebody gets open? How in the world did NOBODY get open? Josh had to throw the damn ball away, and we NEEDED that touchdown. That was right after a huge turnover, and we got a FG. But don't worry, Crow fumbles for the first time since 2014, and the Giants sure knew what to do with it.

I have NOT been impressed with the play-calling.

Coleman ... gotcha.

I like his routes. I like his burst. Gonna be a good one. The main thing he needs is experience, and a little added strength.

With some notable exceptions, rookie wrs don't usually come out of the box NFL-ready, but the second year tells the story.

I feel good about Coleman.

Higgins should have Hawkins job by next year.

And while we are waiting to see if Louis could ever be a front line guy, he still reminds me of Reggie Rucker, so I hold out hope, Must be the facemask or the upright way he moves or something.

See... was it really that hard? You now have a legit shot at being a "the glass is one-quarter full" kinda guy... ;) Just keep ignoring the forest and focus on a few trees.

Here are a couple more seedlings for your consideration:

  • Erving may have just had his best game as a pro. I'm going to have to go back and look, but based upon watching him on a dozen plays and a lack of replays featuring him screwing up....
  • Quietly Ed Reynolds has stopped our Safety play freefall. Don't think he is the likely long-term solution, but he has stabilized the position for now. Similar to Pettine's pet Safety he brought with him to us... name escapes me.

I agree about Coleman, and I wasn't trying to knock the kid. The injury obviously hindered him, to say the least, but I don't like how we don't go to him more often. He had a nice play on a short throw that he took for decent yards. Then I didn't see us try it again. Did Giants change their defense and take away that route? For the ENTIRE GAME? I doubt it. And why the fuck don't we ever get Coleman on a slant? I know we tried it maybe once, but that's the route he's going to break for a big gainer eventually. Pryor runs it better, and he's much bigger...but still. I want Coleman on a few more crossing routes. I want that quick pass play once a quarter. I want a damn reverse or even just fake reverse. How about a freaking jet sweep? I haven't seen too many creative plays involving Coleman, and that saddens me. However, this is the "Positive Thread", so I need to shut up. Coleman is going to be fine, it's just our stupid damn luck that caused him to break his hand in practice. I mean...REALLY? Lord I'd love to see Coleman play with a real QB. Can you imagine him playing with Tom Brady?

I loved the way rapistbooger stared at Danny Shelton when he nailed him on a sack.

Jim Leonhard. There's a DC in the makings there, if he isn't already helping in SF with Pettine's pet psychopath, Jim O'Neil.

That would be the lad... and you got me curious as to what he's doing now... from Wiki:

James Andrew "Jim" Leonhard is the secondary coach of the Wisconsin Badgers football team.

the ONLY positive thing i saw on sunday was kirksey.

too much to bitch about, so i won't.

I would add that Shelton has been doing his job far better lately than at any time last year.

loved the shelton pick. will be here a long time. hopefully our FO realizes the assinine stupidity of letting people walk as if we are the patriots or something.

The D showed up and played to its ability for 3 quarters,

too bad the game is 4 quarters long.
