Sashi's Real Plan (supposedly)

Wanna start this by saying take it with a grain of salt, because I heard it through word of mouth. But apparently here's what Sashi and the front office are really planning on doing:

So at my job, there's a guy who i see around occasionally who has been a season ticket holder for years. He's one of those people who just knows everyone, so he's made some connections and usually knows more inside information than the average fan.

We started shooting the shit and I asked him if he thinks we'll win at all this season. He said Sashi and Jimmy are trying to go 0-16, and at halftime of the Jets game Sashi called down and told them to blow the game. (I know, sounds crazy but have you ever seen a team play so differently from 1st to 2nd half?...) And apparently this is all approved by Jimmy. They want to make 100% sure they get the first pick.

What are they gonna do with it? Hue and the front office are planning on giving Kessler a couple years to grow and see if he's the guy, but they're confident he can be. They want to trade the 1st pick to a team who's willing to sell their soul for the top QB in the draft.

Then they're going to use those picks to draft lineman, lineman, lineman and more lineman. (OL more of a priority than DL, but they want both.)

Again, this is my co-worker telling me these things, so take it for what it's worth but he is usually always on point.

Should be interesting to see if this is how it plays out. Just figured I'd share with you guys

.............. and then the coaches got 53 men to go along with their plan, and they all helped "blow the game"? Pretty damn impressive as I can't keep even 2 of my friends from keeping a secret, much less 51 more.

I heard that aliens used the Men In Black Flashy Thingie to wipe the player's and coach's memories..... Yea, that's what I heard.

Like I said, it is word of mouth. So if you thinks it's bullshit that's fine, there's no proof.

Crazier secrets have been kept for longer periods in football locker rooms. All the cheating New England has done, the bounty New Orleans was putting out on QBs, the sex scandal at Baylor. Those things went on for years before someone blew those secrets. It hasn't even been a week since the Jets game. Locker rooms are families, they protect each other and don't snitch.

and we'll trade down to mid 1st round again and get some so so talent and again miss out on potential game changers like Peppers or Garrett or whomever. I don't mind dropping back a few slots but not so far as to be out of the top 8

Actually if you are looking for linemen midround or second is a much better place than number one.

This. All conspiracy theories shit the bed once you realize how many people would have to be involved for it to work and for it to stay a secret.

It's not like the Coach goes into the meeting room and tells the players "Hey guys, we're going to drop this one today, so make it look good and have some fun, but don't take the lead at any point just in case."

It's more like it gets to November, and the team you thought was rebuilding is just falling apart and realistically you're not going to the playoffs, so the owner and the GM have a chat, and they decide the best thing for the team moving forward is the highest possible draft pick.

They put guys on IR a little quicker than they might have otherwise.

They pressure the coach to play development players over vets. (Kessler over McCown.. And literally our entire defense.. and to boot, we pretty much did this from game one by getting rid of almost all of our veterans in the offseason)

They don't spend any more cap room on bringing in late season additions. (Jamie Collins the exception.. but is one guy going to get us to start winning? I think they got him now with the hopes he signs long term. If they waited til the offseason there's no way he'd sign in free agency. But now he'll have 8 weeks here, and maybe he'll buy in to the organization and sign here)

They basically send the message between the lines that the season is over, without saying it explicitly, and even if no one goes out to lose on purpose it certainly helps kill morale which can also contribute to losing.

You can get the first pick without going 0-16 or even 1-15. Happens all the time.

Nor would you have to tell the players. Play calls on both sides of the ball are more than enough to tank a game in a half.

That said.... ummmmm... no.... not buying it.

The rookies are locked in for four or five years.

Four is the length for drafted rooks with 1st rounders carrying a fifth year option.

UDFAs get three-year deals.

...kinda' like just before the half against Cincy.

Don't go for the 1st down or FG from their 38 and let the clock run until you get 5 yard delay penalty. Then after Cincy runs their 1st play, call time out for them...

And even in that scenario we'd upgrade a VAST portion of the roster. Seattle and Minnesota base their D on the DL.. and we also have OL issues.. so this isn't terrible. I'm not sure it's better, but it's not terrible.

OL: Who's good? Thomas, Bitonio. Who is developing? Pasztor. Who can be upgraded? Greco and [insert C turnstile here]. Yes, Greco was t10 for a couple years but.. thanks for your service!

DL: Keep Shelton, D Bryant. Nassib/Ogbah are either 4-3 or 5-2 ends.. they've got no position in a 3-4.

LB: Keep Collins, Kirksey. Davis sucks, as does the Scho.

DB: Keep

WR: Last yr's draft was good enough. Is there a market for a third for Gordon?

TE: Gary still can't block even if his contract depends on it. Needs to be upgraded.

Need upgrades at OLB, DL, all DB, TE [unless DeValve turns out to be more than a 2-yard safety valve], and 2/5 OL.

And that's just the starters.. the backups wouldn't start in the CFL. We need lots of talent [iNCLUDING backups] on this roster -- one #1 pick won't save anything other than perhaps ticket sales.. And I doubt even that, because tickets cost so much that the stupid people who would be conned by one top-of-the-first pick literally cannot afford even one game any more. [well, unless they chose not to save, which is a different thread]

But I simply don't believe the OP's assertion.. if that was the case, why take WR this year? Not going to happen..

I'm not buying it.. I just don't believe any player in his heart is just gonna drop games just for a pick.. That just sounds like Hollywood to Me...

Nope. Especially when the 'pick' could wind up being for HIS spot. The conspiracy theory could not include the players in order to have any merit.

Franky, I find it hard to believe that......even Haslam.......would order up a loss. MAYYYBE, last game of the season, with a Peyton Manning in the draft.

Forgot about that one.. Good call. Also when we went for 2 first against Tennessee

So many head scratching calls it's either Hue Jackson is an idiot, or there's something going on behind the scenes

This is the stupidest fucking thing I've ever read on this forum which is a dubious record to hold. Seriously, congratulations because the bar was so low I never thought it could go lower. You officially crossed the dumb fuck threshold and I guess should wear it with pride.
