We don't have any other WR threats on this team, and Pryor is the only guy that made plays on a consistent basis. Hopefully Coleman joins that list, but right now we can't be sure. Yeah, it definitely is something to consider but the main counter I'd have is that he had to deal with literally 6 QB's (including himself) and still had a great season. The combination of good talent and a desire to play in Cleveland makes this a no brainer decision in my mind. Lock him up with something like a 4 year/$32 to $35 million deal with about $12-13 million guaranteed. Back load the contract so if it doesn't pan out after year two the cap hit doesn't loom as large. This FO stuff is pretty easy, think Cleveland would give me a shot? Pryor's guy HC/WR mentor Hue(not so much C-town) has 4 years left on his contract, SUPPOSEDLY. At most maybe a 2-3 year deal with a opt out, maybe the hold up. sad but, fair to say? Both together would be an amazing to watch! Plus, a speedster like Coleman added to Gordon and Pryor would make it nearly impossible to stop. Let me try to follow the logic here - we had a good young corner that we drafted high and who played well; he went to the pro-bowl; we signed him to a long contract extension; he then went to another pro-bowl; he's been injured a lot the last couple of year; therefore we shouldn't sign anyone to a contract extension? If we keep the tag on TP as noted he would cost the Browns $16 or so million. I get and understand the idea a contract can be negotiated during this time, but assuming he signs the tag that's overpaying for TP given his career production wouldn't you agree? If we sign him to a contract with about that same money guaranteed (again, my target would be something like 4 yr/$35 million with $16-20 mil guaranteed) and back-load it, we would be paying the guy roughly the same amount of money over the first two years of the contract to include his guarantees. If the dudes balls out he's worth the $9-10 million you're giving him in the last two years of the deal in this back load scenario. If he bottoms out (which still is a concern of mine as it should be for the Browns) after two years you release him for the cap space.
