It'll happen. I get the impression we're not messing around keeping the players we want on this team. We don't have any other WR threats on this team, and Pryor is the only guy that made plays on a consistent basis. Hopefully Coleman joins that list, but right now we can't be sure.

More than half his yards came in 4 games. Those other games he was a relative non-factor. Not really consistent imo. He still has room to grow an is worth the investment, as he works hard and want to improve.

Yeah, it definitely is something to consider but the main counter I'd have is that he had to deal with literally 6 QB's (including himself) and still had a great season.

The combination of good talent and a desire to play in Cleveland makes this a no brainer decision in my mind. Lock him up with something like a 4 year/$32 to $35 million deal with about $12-13 million guaranteed. Back load the contract so if it doesn't pan out after year two the cap hit doesn't loom as large.

This FO stuff is pretty easy, think Cleveland would give me a shot?

last season your 1-15. A owner known for a happy coaches/FO trigger. Pryor's guy HC/WR mentor Hue(not so much C-town) has 4 years left on his contract, SUPPOSEDLY. At most maybe a 2-3 year deal with a opt out, maybe the hold up. sad but, fair to say?

Quarterback issues greatly contributed to any problems he may have had.

Terrel Pryor at all costs.

He is a great example and role model to a player like Josh Gordon.

Both together would be an amazing to watch! Plus, a speedster like Coleman added to Gordon and Pryor would make it nearly impossible to stop.

Pryor and Gordon go together like Peanut Butter and Jelly.

Pryor MAYBE is a #3 WR in Pittsburgh, Pryor is okay, that's all. A C+ grade performer.

no maybe. He'd be a #2. Martavis Bryant is now their Gordon.Pryor's a easy B with a QB...BTW- F them Steel queers..Revis DiD

Sounds like Revis knocked out a couple Pittsburgh punks who were hounding him and filming him.

I have new respect for him.

When the Jets cut him, we need to sign him to play free safety.

WOW.............. can you fucking imagine this? Another non-issue that won't do cunt-fuck to win football games consuming the Browns.

Pryor MAYBE is a #3 WR in Pittsburgh, He is an easy shut down adn resigning him means nothing without Gordon, or a Julio Jones caliber #1 WR. Pryor is okay, that's all. A C+ grade performer.

He would be #2. Beyond A. Brown the Steelers have fuck all at WR. That was proven vs. the Pats.

Besides...I thought you were the one that was all about the skill players. So, which is it.....WRs, OL, nobody worth your attention?

We dont exactly have playmaking freaks of nature falling in our laps every year, fucking keep pryor.

From a physical standpoint he might be the most gifted wr in football, but yeah guys like him show up in berea every year looking for work so fuck it let him walk

"At all costs?"

Most physically gifted? Not feeling that... but even were I to concede that, he still has to develop a number of receiver skills to get in the best WR conversation.

The agents are probably just stalling. If TP told them to get the deal done, they are just making sure they get max money for him, and only way to do that is to wait until the free-agency period opens up. I expect the deal will get done in the first week of March. TP has to do this because he's not likely to get a big-bucks next contract like a conventional standout drafted WR entering his prime would get.

I have a feeling he might get franchised with a view to lengthening the exclusive negotiating period through most of the offseason.

It's possible. Though the front office said they don't intend to FT him, they could be saying that to encourage his agents to stop stalling.

To franchise TP would cost the Browns about $16 million dollars: http://www.pennlive.com/steelers/index.ssf/2017/02/nfl_franchise_tag_2017_position.html

I like the guy a lot and hope we re-sign him, but that would be absurd amount of money to pay him for what he's done in his career so far. I really doubt this FO would pull that either. The guy wants to be here, we can "overpay" him to stay here on a contract, all signs point to just getting the deal done.

My best guess because you have to tag someone is that it'll go to Colquitt.

We won't franchise the punter.

I'm not saying franchise Pryor and leave it there - just use it as a tool to get more negotiating time.

But it is still cheaper than the commitment we will have to make to him to lock him into a multi-year deal.

If we are not sure how high his ceiling is, then the tag is a viable, smart route.

If you have the money just laying around, you might as well spend it on him. It will build up some good will on his part that you overpaid him so much, won't affect the health of our roster going forward, and will give us another year to evaluate him.

How is that Joe Haden contract working out? And how many Pro Bowls did he make.

Let me try to follow the logic here - we had a good young corner that we drafted high and who played well; he went to the pro-bowl; we signed him to a long contract extension; he then went to another pro-bowl; he's been injured a lot the last couple of year; therefore we shouldn't sign anyone to a contract extension?

Sound.

I'd ask you to go more into detail on this. If we keep the tag on TP as noted he would cost the Browns $16 or so million. I get and understand the idea a contract can be negotiated during this time, but assuming he signs the tag that's overpaying for TP given his career production wouldn't you agree?

If we sign him to a contract with about that same money guaranteed (again, my target would be something like 4 yr/$35 million with $16-20 mil guaranteed) and back-load it, we would be paying the guy roughly the same amount of money over the first two years of the contract to include his guarantees. If the dudes balls out he's worth the $9-10 million you're giving him in the last two years of the deal in this back load scenario. If he bottoms out (which still is a concern of mine as it should be for the Browns) after two years you release him for the cap space. I prefer option two because it provides much more stability without nearly as much cost.
