The Cleveland Browns have been busy on the waiver wire, claiming guard Ryan Seymour and running back Glenn Winston from the San Francisco 49ers and guard Caylin Hauptmann from the Seattle Seahawks.

... and Byrdie makes 4....

The Cleveland Browns are now reportedly on record in making 4 waiver claims today. Roster Moves so far include two offensive linemen, one running back and now a tall receiver in LaRon Byrd:

Whats his contract situation? He probably wasnt worth the money hes owed.

If he was cut he doesn't have a contract....we start from scratch....at least from the veteran minimum based on his tenure in the league.

It;s a good question for which I do not know the answer. Someone more knowledgeable than me could probably research that out. This is all I could find.

I had a site that had contract terms.... but damned if I can find it now...

However, I did find...

The president of the NFLPA is out of a day job once again. Winston, 30, was brought in on a flier to see if he could unseat rookie Justin Britt at right tackle, but apparently struggled just as badly as he did while getting embarrassed as a Cardinal last season. Aug 30 - 1:26 PM

... and...

Winston, 30, started all 16 games at right tackle for the Cardinals last season, but struggled both in the run and pass games and graded out as a bottom-eight tackle at Pro Football Focus. In Seattle, the favorite for starting right-tackle duties is Michael Bowie. Second-round rookie Justin Britt is also in the mix to replace the departed Breno Giacomini. Winston will simply compete for a spot. Jul 29 - 10:32 AM

I knew he disappointed out of school and went further south after an injury, but did not realize that he had slid so far.

Browns signing Vinston Painter off Broncos practice squad

The Browns are continuing to shuffle their roster ahead of the start of the regular season.

Mike Klis of the Denver Post reports that Cleveland is signing offensive lineman Vinston Painter off of Denver’s practice squad and adding him to their 53-man roster. The move will be guaranteed three weeks of pay at the active roster level even if the team should decide to move in a different direction.

Painter has not played in a regular season game since the Broncos made him the 173rd pick in last year’s draft, but has seen time at tackle and guard in practices and the preseason. He’s the third offensive lineman added to the roster since the team set their initial 53-man roster, joining waiver acquisitions Ryan Seymour and Caylin Hauptmann as new members of the Browns.

The Broncos have signed long snapper Kevin McDermott to the practice squad to take Painter’s place.
