I also think that in many cases contrarianism takes over for actual political ideology. I know I often fall into that category.

ah, the old liberal "you are angry".... nah. I don't get angry, I get comedic, at least to me. I'm a whole lot Tim Conway

or Red Skelton, and rarely ever Don Rickles. I get even....

Like one time, in high school (no, not "band camp")... I was never allowed to play sports - had a bad knee

since I was a kid...so, I went and played intramural basketball my senior year - didn't have to have permission hahaaha.

. When you aren't allowed to play,

you get a lot of time practicing your shooting. And I was making nearly every shot I took.

So, this tall, gangly, stupid, hood kind of kid, was always guarding me, and tried to rough me up to

take me out of my game. I got elbowed in the eye, the neck, knocked to the floor, tripped, nearly kneed

in the groin... which would have happened on one of my jump shots, except I faked him out and passed

the ball to our center for an easy layup.

WELL, after the near miss on my groin, one of the "refs" mentioned that he almost got me in my groin. I kept making most of my foul shots. Well, the next trip down the floor, I received a pass and just as I passed

it to our center again, the stupid gangly kid knocked me to the floor on a run at me from behind.

That was it. I was walking toward him asking him what was wrong with him, some guys and refs move in

to break up anything.....and he's trying to goad

me into coming after him and fighting. I just pointed at him, and said "okay. okay" and walked away.

And called timeout. I told my team to get the ball back to me and let me take care of something just once...

so they did.

I'm about the 3 point line, and everybody is waiting for the rebound if I miss. I start walking towards the basket,

slowly, looking for just the perfect angle to the basket for my shot... and the other team tells stupid roughneck kid

that he's supposed to be guarding me. So, he ran at me, I pump fake, and go up to shoot - he goes way up in the air,

but I never left the ground. I went back down in a set position, and when he came flying down to crash into me, I took

the basketball and "shot" it into his midsection as hard as I could. There was this loud, really ugly scream or something like it..

That was the end of that. He missed two days of school. I lowered my shoulder and he whomped to the floor.

Nobody ever came after me again. And, he fouled me, so I made both my foul shots.

The next game, another big guy went up and slapped my hook shot back into my face - what a stupid move on my part -

and he was apologizing. I just grinned and said it was all on me, and we were fine. I don't get angry. I just make

my foul shots...

oh, and the next game, I only made three baskets - kept making assists..missed a few....after about...10 minutes or so, I tore up my knee going after a loose

ball, and that was that. My surgeon was pretty mad, and had to drain my knee - twice.

the next day, I was at school, on crutches, and got sent to the office.

Apparently, my surgeon called them and very pointedly told them I had better never be allowed to play contact

sports again. They were pissed. So, that ruined my chance at the NBA draft. LOL
