Pettine: Two quarterback system is "on the table"

I heard it differently....I think he said it' 'was" on the table before, but it's "off" the table for now....here's the exact quote.....you decide...

"We could potentially look at a two-quarterback system down the road,'' Pettine said on Sirius XM Radio this morning.

Pettine stressed that a Manziel package is "on the table.''

But during his press conference Wednesday in Berea, Pettine said he didn't envision such a platoon early in the season, presumably ruling it out for the opener against the Steelers. But why not give Steelers defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau and his defenders plenty to think about?

"No, this is Brian's job,'' said Pettine. "I don't foresee us now, especially early, being in a two-quarterback system. This is Brian's job

I wonder.....if Hoyer went down in the 1st game .....and it was a MINOR injury and obvious he'd be back in just a week or 2.....then who would they put in for the short run?

Gotta say, this 2 offense thing makes me very uneasy....they are already learning a complex offense....and, now, they have to learn 2 of them???.....so much for continuity if a QB goes down(and we know THAT never happens).......sheesh

I am against any special "packages" and what not. Make a decision and stick to it until its obvious that its time for a change. Don't keep dipping your toes in the water.

Everything would be in better shape right now if #6 was announced as the starter at the beginning of camp, with no competition. If Manziel then blew the doors off of camp then internally you could consider it competition. Now that #6 is named the starter, drop all talks of Manziel playing until you're ready to start him.

The decisions that have been ultimately made, feel correct, however how things have transpired feels botched.

Watching espn talking about how there is division between harbaugh and management out in SF. They talked about their sucky start and how harbaugh will probably be gone after this year. Especially so if they suck this year. The browns dumped Chud thinking they were bringing in harbaugh last year. That blew up in their faces. But if he finds himself out of work after this season, dont expect them to be loyal to their 5 th choice. There is no link. Its called putting 2 and 2 together and reading the tea leaves. Is it really so improbable?

Well here is one thing I can agree with. Only play him if Hoyer has dropped through the toilet. Take your choice and stick with him. Otherwise he will function pretty much how we saw on Monday night, eyes more focused on the rear view mirror that any receiver downfield. JF should only come in during cleanup time.

And for the record, with this excellent D I doubt we see the Browns blown out by anyone enough to bring JM into a lost game. I wouldn't do it anyway. Wrong message to send to Hoyer.

Harbaugh...bank it...bet on it...a prediction a year out.

You do realize that it wasn't Harbaugh that was wanting to come here right? It was the 49'ers exploring the possibility of trading us a their coach for our draft. That would have been an infinite win for the 49'ers because they could replace Harbaugh with another coach of equal or greater value within minutes of trading him. Harbaugh does not want to leave the San Francisco 49'ers with their shiny new stadium and come to Cleveland. What on earth are you basing this prediction on? Dude has one of the best jobs in the NFL. A gazelle of a qb, perennial top 5 defense. There is not a single player on the Browns team that is better than his counterpart on the 49'ers...save perhaps for Joe Thomas. He's not coming unless the 49'ers deal him....a situation in which we would have to give them multiple high value picks which ain't happenin.

Ill take that action.....like it or not, Pettine is here for a while...

JH's ego is way too big to quickly admit he missed again....so I give Pettine 2-3 years to show his stuff.....Hopefully, by then, it wont even be a consideration......

Barring injury there will be no 2 qb system. Hoyer is a lot better QB than most people think, and soon we will all find out. The key to the Browns success, as with any other struggling team is "WEED"ing out all the team "distractions" as the latest culprit put it. Last time I looked I couldn't find a statute for a Class A Distraction.

Pettine? Maybe, but I still smell Shanahan...

Old Herm "You-play-to-win-the-game" Edwards actually got one right... as close as I can remember he said, "Worry about establishing one Quarterback before you consider a rotation."
