"Ahhh, remember when Brady Quinn fell so far in the first round of the 2007 NFL draft, and the Cleveland Browns supposedly got a steal with the 22nd pick? Well, the first 21 teams were proven right (and Johnny Manziel just went 22nd to the Browns after a first-round slide, if you believe in bad omens).
Quinn never became a functional NFL quarterback, but still ended up getting jobs through last season. He couldn't find another NFL team to pay him for this season, so Fox hired the former Notre Dame star as a studio analyst.
Apparently this is Fox's reaction to ESPN's SEC Network hiring Tim Tebow. And ESPN got the better quarterback in that deal. Quinn had a shocking 64.4 rating (Blaine Gabbert is 66.4, for comparison) and was 4-16 as a starter. Usually a quarterback's record means almost nothing, but Quinn didn't do much to help his teams.
Cleveland, Denver, Kansas City, the Jets and St. Louis all employed Quinn over the past seven regular seasons, and he was also with Seattle last preseason. The Rams and Jets had him on their rosters for a bit last regular season. But when he couldn't find another team this offseason, Quinn decided to embark on a new career."

Well, good for him. He is a pretty boy, and is fairly articulate. And he may have more knowledge about the game than he had the capability of playing it.

So, now what are DA, McCoy, Weeden, Frye, Holcomb, Pederson, Campbell, Wallace, McCown,Dorsey, Detmer, Garcia, Wynn, Gradkowski, Thad Lewis, Delhomme doing.

I know that Dilfer is with ESPN, and Couch is with the SEC network, I think.

Quinn v Anderson was ten times worse than Hoyer v Manziel, because like Manziel, Quinn was the college star, #22 pick, "anointed one" ... but, just the opposite of Manziel and Hoyer, Quinn was the local hero and Anderson was the outsider.

Triple obnoxiousness.

Especially because the team played better when Anderson was in there.

Quinn Fags were the biggest bunch of quarterback homos in the history of the sport.

They were holding pitchforks and torches demanding we give up Lumbergh so they could lynch him in town square.

We decided to keep Lumbergh and get rid of the Quinn fags (Lumbergh was funnier). So Skippy started picking them off one by one. The first on to go was mz the pussy. He said something like "get rid of Lumbergh or just delete my account", so we did. Skippy shot him down in the middle of the street, I can still see mz the pussy's brains splattering on Shep's cardigan sweater.

Which led to mass deletions and underground PMs about a new homoerotic board being formed, "Barking Erect" I think they called it.

Fun stuff. Over two mediocre QBs. Well, one mediocre QB and one really, really bad one. That mediocre guy is still cashing paychecks. And somewhere, a Panthers fan board cries every year when he re-signs a one-year contract and Lumbergh camps out for another year.

Sometimes, when it is real quiet, I can still hear Shep: "He's big, he's mobile, he's smart, he's got a strong arm, he scored great on his Wunderlik!" Yes, he was all of those things, and like Joey Harrington and Matt Leinart he is also no longer a football player.

Keep cashing those gamechecks, Horseballs. You won as many games your first month as a starter as Quinn did his entire career.

I would go over to Barking with a Boner and give Shep a hard time about it, but I know he's probably got his head halfway up Johnny's ass by now so he would just hear muffled sounds.

Fare thee well, Brady Quinn, Phil Savage's great folly, the Browns Board's great divide, now TV's next great Jesse Palmer.

Wait are you saying the people who loved Derek Anderson WON that battle?

No one loved Derek Anderson.*

People that realized Brady Quinn was shit early on won that battle.

*Edit ... except Lumbergh. He loved him very, very, very much.

Ah the good old days- Sheppie was all mad at me before the draft when I proclaimed- "it will be a SIN if they draft Quinn." He was also huge on how great the Clausen Pickle was gonna be in the pros too, if you remember. It was great fun ragging on him endlessly on how bad Harrington sucked (my two brother in laws are huge Lions fans) the Shepster was in denial about that one for a couple of years. I almost caught up with him last year at the KC game- actually talked to him on cell phone. He's been duly invited to the Tailgate this year, don't know if he'll show.

I occasionally stick my nose over on Woofing Hard to get some alternate viewpoints. And there are some great posters over there. BTW, Shep misses ya Z, and wishes you would post over there. :) Of course, he has his head totally inserted up JF's ass.

I'll take the liberty of giving the old timers an update on our kicked off (or wandered off) migrants. Sadly, Inspecta (Gabe) died from melanoma earlier this year. LOL, Stan would be thrilled to know M Z (mz the pussy) ah, I see Stan never took the auto correct off- :) got kicked off the 'Tard also, as did Tom Flugel- I'd love to know where Tom's posting now he's one of the few I really miss.

Don't know who the bigger jinxer is, Shep or PoG. Once they proclaim their man love, the player, and us, are doomed.

Isn't Sheppie a mod over there? He never did like being disagreed with.

I spoke with Flugels before he left - he was great - he called me a couple of times.

I hope he's doing great. Wait...FLUGELS got kicked off that board? good gravy - I wouldn't

imagine that would happen....

Flugels was the casualty we didn't expect or want. I considered him a good friend. Someone got a hold of him and convinced him to go over there, which was fine, but then he stopped calling any of us,like he fell off the face of the earth. Didn't expect that.

Shep is still considered a friend too. He comes back from time to time, probably when he is on the outs over there. He is always welcome back, but I am going to always remind him of his obsessions with Quinn, Leinart, Harrington et al, because he was borderline condescending in his opinions, which he posted 100 times a day. He was actually similar to Lumbergh, except he really is a Browns fan, and that he seamlessly moves on from QB to QB. I knew he would be obsessed with Johnny without having to look over at Barking with Wood.

First... how much do you actually have to play before you can "give up playing"?

Second... I never thought of history as being fun until I read a couple posts in this thread.

Anderson is in Carolina preparing for his 10th NFL season. And he's already got a contract for his 11th NFL season next year.

Sorry for your loss Quinn Fags.

Ha! If you guys would come to terms with the fact that Lumbergh is a real dude you'd see that the truth is 10 times funnier than anything Stan or I could have created.

He has an Oregon ISP, always has, I dont know what else to tell ya.

For me, it was never about Anderson, it was about the insistence that Quinn be given the job.

He was awful. And now six other teams have confirmed that.

Anderson was mistake prone and maddingly inconsistent. But at least we had a punchers chance on Sundays. Quinn was stillborn into the NFL. He had nothing. Couldnt throw deep. Couldnt win. And Savage traded a first and second for him.

Damn, you yet live. Still lurking? OK, DA has made far more money in 10 years than I ever have in a lifetime. Nice 1\2 season with the Browns- and I know you have to be thrilled about his 100% completion % in the last 3 years 4\4 but I digress. And I was never on the Quinn train- I was just willing to give him a chance. (unlike someone we know who was creaming himself over Brady's "tight spirals" and command of the game. )

Career backup- with one brief flash of glory- is anyone's dream job. A million a year for working out, holding a clipboard, and getting to see the Cheerleaders up close? Sign me up. :)
