I don't know where the browns front office guys' heads are at with the QB situation. I'm telling you what I'd do. And like I've said multiple times, I don't give a rats ass what stats tell you, stats are inconsistent and don't tell you all that much when they're relative to other players. I can give you Matt cassels stats in New England and his stats in minny and ask you which QB you think is better. See how this doesn't work? Stats are for autistics. I see what we have in hoyer with his intangibles and mentality. He played like complete poop today, abd him stepping it up again to clean up his mess and lead another game winning drive gave me even more faith in him. Did you see joe Thomas' and josh Gordon's quotes after the game? His teammates love him and believe in him.

The only stat I care about is the number in the win columns and Brian is killing it there. Suck it haters!

Stats do MATTER especially when it comes down to $MONEY$, NFL management, agents, and contract negotiations.

My college roommate is currently a sports agent in Miami and you have no idea how critical it is how much stats matter, maybe not to you but to everyone else involved. A missed TD, int, or fumble here, extra 100 yards rushing, extra sack there can be a million(s) dollar swing.

Who do you think is getting paid more? The QB with 28 TD's and 4 int's with 3000+ yards and 100+ rating

or the QB with 14 TD's 9 int's < 3000 yards and lower 90 rating????????

Stats are a reflection of how you play on the field.

Would you rather have a RB with 1600 yards and averages 5 yards a carry or the running back who runs with heart and has 770 yards and a 3.4 ypc? RB#1 gets paid more.

Stats matter and players and agents use them as leverage to increase their contracts which is why agents are often considered slimy scumbags.

you are way too nice of a guy.

i don't know what kind of bullshit deflector you're wearing but mine wore out about 3 days into the first of many stockton rants. the is no conversation there. he doesn't hear you. he's a friggin devil robot placed on earth to make people jump off buildings and throw themselves in front of buses. sorta like the plants and trees in that m. night shylaman bomb of a flick 'the happening'.

No Mik. Don't you start with me. I like you too damn much. Fuck you.

We all have our favorite villains on this board we like to spar with. Imagine if Stockton could evolve, and instead of just annoying the shit out of us about Brian Hoyer, he could annoy the shit out of us about Terrance West, or John Greco, or ANYONE besides Brian Hoyer.

But your analogy was spot on.

Ok let's compare 2 different stat lines from a season in which the running back played in 16 games

A: 737 rush yards, 3.5 ypc, 6 rush td's, 46.1ypg, 22 rec, 145 rec yds, 0 rec tds

B: 1590 rush yards, 5.0 ypc, 11 rush td's, 99.4 ypg, 23 rec, 196 rec yds, 1 rec td's

Alright so based off that who's the better player, A or B?

Oh wait, it's the same fucking person. A is marshawn lynch in 2010 age 24 and B him in 2012 age 26

Idc what you tell me, stats mean absolutely nothing to the ability of a player. Nothing. At all. They are for Retards and autistics

You can throw all those bullshit stats out the window especially the horseshit QB rating . Stats don't mean shit other than a barometer

for talking heads to spin it however they want. The intangibles like self confidence leadership and the way it relates to your teammates will make or break a TEAM. The ONLY thing that matters is WINS. Stats don't win shit. Dan Marino had great stats and never won shit. Eli Mannings stats were average and won two Super Bowls. The Browns are 7-4 and I'm excited as hell.

GO BROWNS !

You're obviously Retarded if you think stats don't matter.

They are a reflection of your performance on the field and often dictate how much a player will get paid.

Sure. They mean nothing to your actual abilities as a player though. Stats are inconsistent. They don't tell the whole story, they're for autistics who can't judge a player based off his physical and mental attributes. I showed you marshawn lunch's stats. 2 different environments 2 completely different results. He was not a different athlete at age 26 than he was at 24. I can list a million more examples if you'd like

Let me break it down for you Upper Lip,

I talked to Eugene (my old roommate) who is a certified NFLPA agent and asked him about The Brian Hoyer situation about 3 weeks ago over the phone.

The players use stats (even the ones that come in garbage time) against NFL management as a way to increase their salaries and contracts the same way NFL management uses bad stats against them to keep their contracts reasonable. It's simple negotiations.

If you don't think Brian Hoyer is pissed about those 3 picks he threw today, think again, him and his agents are losing big time money on that. FACT FACT FACT. Sure he's glad he won but with each bad performance goes money out the window. You can talk "Heart and soul and leadership" all you want but these agents and managers are ruthless and want quantitative data to base their financial decisions off of.

Hoyer is going to get paid a lot more posting 20 TD's and 5 ints than 15 TD's and 10 int's ESPECIALLY in a contract year.

Since Hoyer is in a contract year, Hoyer is going to want to post bigger numbers to increase his the money he will be given in his contract.

Yes, there are things that don't show up in stats like leadership, quality of throws, etc but all that hometown hero bullshit goes out the window when some desperate team like the Jets (using as an example) throws 15+ million at him and The Browns only offer 6-7 million.

Sure, the only stat that matters is W/L but when it comes to players getting big money, stats are often the evidence that gets them massive contracts.

Peyton Manning, Aarron Rogers, Matt Ryan, Joe Flacco, and Drew Brees don't get 100 million dollar contracts for average stats. They get those contracts because they are statistically prolific or were at some point in their careers.

Stats might not matter to you or the average fan,

but when millions of dollars are on the line and players have agents that will use them to pry as much cash away as possible, they are everything.

My god you are autistic. I told you sure on that aspect. A players stats will always be used to base contracts. They mean absolutely nothing to a players actual ability though. Smart gm's know how to stay away from players with limited abilities who command big contracts based on big stats in a situation tailor made for his stats to look nice

So posts about Hoyer can get you banned, but posts about someone who posts about Hoyer ar acceptable? This board is weird.

Maybe if I start only posting about Stockton, and only creating threads about Stockton, and critique everyer comment Stockton makes, for months, I would get banned.

Luckily for me I'm not some fucking nutcase loser...like Stockton.

the point is EVERYTHING Shitty Shorts posts is a Hoyer rant. He brings no value to the board. He hasn't posted one single positive thing about the Browns. He is as troll as troll gets!

I think he is a Browns fan, just has a different perspective. Put him on ignore if he annoys you. You all should be talking about the great win instead of stalking a specific poster.

That's what's getting him kicked off E- Not that we won, it's Hoyer played lousy, and it's his only agenda. See anything he posted about how well The Crow ran today? didn't think so. .

I think he's a Browns fan. Something got jumbled along the way though. It's pretty evident he cares more about the failure of one guy than the success of our team, just for the sake of being right, l guess.

It's disheartening, really. He's a smart guy, and l'd love to hear his perspective on many other aspects of the game and revel in the successes of the team with him, but his agenda trumps all.

Yup.

We didn't win good enough. Wins without a franchise qb aren't worth anything.

Dammit, if we just had a Aaron Rodgers tossing the rock we woulda beat those bums 50- 7.

So posts about Hoyer can get you banned, but posts about someone who posts about Hoyer ar acceptable? This board is weird.

Nope- and please get this. It's not Hoyer bashing that will get you tossed- but make it your ONLY agenda- even in a running back thread it might. We as Mods have to think about it- and even then we're really reluctant to use the cyber oblivion button.

Attitude may have a bit to do with it too. I don't particularly like- and a bunch of the long time denizens of this board don't either is- the attitude- "see, I'm right, and the rest of you are just dumb f##ks". We're smarter than the average fan- at least I like to think so. Shit- I know Hoyer had a lousy game, Hoyer said he stunk in the postgame presser- but what's the first thing Stock Boy wants to trot out? . HOYER SUCKS, I TOLD YOU SO. Told him he was beating a dead horse, Zombo told him likewise- he isn't listening- so it's bye=bye.

I don't know Stockton but he's certainly entitled to his opinion. Why, this is America not Red China. Stockton sounds like a very nice young man who has high standards and is frustrated with the mistakes. Don't kick him out if you disagree. That's what makes this country great! Diversity!

Feed the Crow!

Having an opinion is welcome and encouraged. Continually repeating that exact opinion in every single post, for months and months, even when asked to give it a rest is the fastest way to get booted from anywhere. All he had to do was give it a rest.

Hell, the funny part is he may even be proven right, but when you act like a douche, you lose the privilege of basking in your know-it-all greatness.

Exactly.. When after a win, all he wants to talk about his how bad the QB played (the same QB who led the game winning drive btw) that's a ticket out of town.

The messenger is dead.

He was repetitive annoying obsessed and fed off the negative energy his posts generated.

But had there not been a grain of truth no one would have cared.

As a supporter of Brian Hoyer (even though I am looking forward to seeing what Johnny can do) I can't help but wonder where this team might be if he didn't suck so badly.

This team really believes in Hoyer, and he has played some great play when it counts.

This offense has confidence - it would be dumb to just knee-jerk.

Most of us really love being 7-4. And without the injuries, who knows ?

Thats about where Im at. I love 7-4 and Im happy to keep winning. Just that the confidence is slipping a bit.

The truth is I felt like crap after watching that yesterday. The offense left opportunity after opportunity on the field and looked really bad doing it. And we were running pretty good and the D was playing well too.

By the time the game ended, i just felt sick to my stomach. Was I happy we pulled it out??.....of course! :).... Hey, Im usually the eternal optimist. Always supporting the team. But I sure didn't feel good yesterday or come out of that game thinking "FUCK YEAH...WE KICKED SOME ASS!!"

So, before you slice me for "not liking the win", just understand that I do like the win. But I dont like 59 minutes of shitty football. And, when we play like shit, we should be allowed to say it. Win or not. And Im saying it.

Ive seen a million threads going after ANY player that has an off day or game. But,when BH has been off for weeks and doesn;t look good, we should be allowed to say that. It's the truth. Ive bit my tongue for weeks, JUST because we've been winning, but the feel verdict is in and it's not that good.

But to "appease" everyone....Crow, West, Hawkins and Gordon all looked great yesterday. The LB's/DB's had a pretty good game too. But Shananhan and Hoyer took the game off. Glad they showed for the last 40 seconds, but wish they would start showing up earlier.

Yes, yes yes....Winning feels better than losing. 100%. But there are "feel good" wins and then there "OMG, we got lucky" wins. To me, yesterday was one of the OMG versions.....

I think we need 4 out of the next 5 games to win the division. Let's hope the "magic" continues, but for me, it's all gonna be based on "hope" and not pure confidence.....

Don't ban him, he at least talks about the Browns, just limit him to starting only one new damn thread a week so we don't have to sort through all his whining.

I think he whines more than Lumbergh did...

And honestly, he is a troll, so best way to piss him off is to stop feeding him..

Tried the one thread thing, but he can't contain himself. and it is too much work for us to have to try and contain him. Maybe we'll bring him back for sideshows every now and them.
