roach
Nick Scorich is the other i thought Skorich was awful at the time. He ended up with a Browns winning percentage of a little over .500 Wouldn't that be nice nowadays? Weird. He was a HC for the Eagles before we knew what a football was. The Gipper
Shurmer Crennel Robiskie (you said interims don't count- right?) Davis Rutigliano Collier You got 4. Yes, I said don't include interims, so Robiskie would not count. I also said "former", so Shurmur doesn't count either.
The Gipper
Nick Scorich is the other No. Skorich was HC of the Eagles before coaching the Browns.
The Gipper
Bob 806 got 1 person on Q#1 right. He got Q#3. He got 4 of 5 in Q#5 (Al Davis is NOT the original owner of the Raiders), and on Q#10 Manning was a half right answer.
The Gipper
Here is some trivia for your 4th of July celebration. See how you do. The first question was inspired by the subject of thread that was recently posted here: Answers: 1. Which Head Coaches have won the Super Bowl in their first year as Head Coach of that team? Don McCafferty won SBV in his first year as HC of the Baltimore Colts George Seifert won SBXXIV in his first year as HC of the 49ers Jon Gruden won SB 38 (enough with the Roman Numerals) in his first year as HC of the TB Bucs. And that is it. 2. As you know, the team winning the Super Bowl receives the "Vince Lombardi Trophy". But from 1934 to 1969 the NFL Champion received the "__________ Memorial Trophy". Fill in the persons name that goes in the blank. It was the Ed Thorp Memorial Trophy. Ed Thorp was a former NFL referee and sporting goods dealer. I don't know how it got that name unless it was the first instance of granting "naming rights". It would have made more sense to me to call it the Jim Thorpe Trophy instead of the Ed Thorp Trophy. 3. Between 1960 and 1969 the AFL technically held 10 championship games (the last 4 of which went on to play in the first 4 Super Bowls). Which stadium hosted the most AFL Champiohship games? Balboa Stadium in San Diego hosted 3 of those AFL title games. The Chargers won only 1 of those games (War Memorial Stadium in Buffalo held 2 as did Jeppeson Stadium in Houston and The Oakland Alameda County Coliseum. 4. Since 1920 the NFL Office Headquarters have been located in 5 cities. Name the 5 cities. Canton Oh. 1920-1921 Columbus Oh. 1921-1941 Chicago 1941-1946 Philadelphia 1946-1960 New York 1960-present 5. Among the current NFL owners, 5 of these men are the original owners of their franchise, i.e. these teams in their history have only had the one owner. Name the 5. (excluding Packers which are community owned) Bob got 4: Wayne Weaver of the Fags...errr Jags. Jerry Richardson of the Panthers. Bob McNair of the Texans, Bud Adams of the Houston Oilers/Tennessee Tits. And the last is Ralph Wilson of the Buffalo Bills. The last two have owned their teams now for over 50 years. 6. Which former Browns Head Coaches were never the HC of another NFL team (not including interim coaches like Shofner and Modzelewski)? Hint: 6 names Blanton Collier, Sam Rutigliano, Bud Carson, Chris Palmer, Butch Davis, and Romeo Crennell (note, Browns coaches and other teams they coached: Paul Brown: Bengals; Nick Skorich: Eagles; Forrest Gregg: Bengals/Packers; Schottenheimer: Chiefs/Redskins/Chargers; Mangini: Jets. Robiskie, Modzelewski, Shofner were interim coaches) 7. In the history of the National Football League (includin AFL and AAFC), 78 quarterbacks have started at least 5 postseason games. Of these 78, which one had the best winning percentage in those postseason games? Bart Starr with a .900 winning pct. (9-1) (the next best are Sammy Baugh and...believe it or not: Trent Dilfer each with 5-1 records for an .833 winning pct. 8. Of those 78, which one had the worst winning pct.? Billy Kilmer who had a .286 winning pct. (2-5) 9. Of those 78, which one started the most postseason games? Favre with 24 (Montana started 23) Which one won the most postseason games? Montana won 16 (second are Bradshaw, Elway, and Brady with 14 wins. Brady of course could still tie or pass Montana) 10. Of those 78, a particular QB whose name rhymes with Le Havre has lost the most postseason games. Which 2 QBs are tied for 2d place in most career playoff losses? Favre has lost 11 postseason games, but after him come Dan Marino and Peyton Manning with 10 losses. Here again, Mannning could surpass Favre someday. In reality, this should not be seen as a negative number. You can only lose 1 post season game per year. Favre, Marino, and Manning have QBed their teams to the postseason at least those 11-10 times. In Favre and Manning you also have 1 year each in which they lost no games because they QBed their team to a title Bonus: Who was President of the Continental Congress when the United States declared Independence on July 4 1776? DOH: This was John Hancock of course. It is why his signature was so prominent on the Declaration of Independence. (by the way, on July 4, 2011, I will be at Independence Hall, Philadelphia Pa. So you got a week to work on this trivia)
