I think there is a reasonable chance McCown can have a winning record with this team...............I am pausing here to let you quit laughing He was not terrible here last year. Our record sucked but it was largely not on him. With a team of midget receivers he managed a 64% completion rate, 94% QBR., threw for 2109 yards and had 12 TD's vs 4 INTs in 8 games. Double that and the stats put him top 12 QB last year. Win loss is NOT just on the QB. This year he will have Pryor, Coleman and soon Gordon along with Barnidge to throw to and I think that is a pretty good upgrade to people who sucked so much I struggle to remember their names. We might try to do him a solid and go out and pick up an actual NFL center. Erving could maybe carry the new guys jock or something. I understand the "potential" is great from him. all the arm talent, athleticism and flashy play is enticing but it's the rocks up stairs that have me concerned he has all the tools of a once in a decade QB and none of it is put together right. We didn't want to spend on a qb so we got the scraps. Gamble didn't pay off 5 games and an offseason as proof. But mccown is still and always has been a better qb than griffin with the exception of 2012 where griffin played a throwing back. I dont know what you really where your steering the conversation but i wanted paxton lynch to sit behind mccown this year instead of coleman literally swap coleman with paxton and i'd be stoked for our future. Granted the Sixers pulled a bit of a Lion's and drafted a bunch of centers, or in this analogy, WR's in the top 3, but they finally got their Stafford in Simmons. I'm a tad higher on the Sixers than most but I think they're a trade or two away from being legit. If they can turn one of those bigs into a shooter, watch out. Leadership and experience have their place but both, specifically experience, have to be learned. I'm not saying they win the championship this year, that's a two horse race, but they'll be much improved. It might not sound like much but I know I'd kill for us to show some improvement this year. But if any FO we had picked the D rookie of the year, and then the O rookie of the year next year, we'd be pretty happy with them. They just haven't had a QB.
