mjp28
Anybody remember the now long defunct ESPN boards? They weren't bad in the 1990s and early 2000s until the trolls and idiots took them over and the mods were no where to be found.

hoorta
fess up which of any cleveland browns message boards were any of you a part of of course ill start and to no surprise i was tossed from dawg talkers (thats a easy one) So I'll write a short (by Flugels standards) history. Like Gip- I was a part of the original AOL message board. More on that later. Ah those were the days of Internet infancy. Circa 1995 when I bought my first computer, a Dell with a whopping 32 MB of ram (upgraded from 16) and a 1GB hard drive- that would cost $3,000 in 2016 dollars. Broadband was a dream- you used a dialup modem. Times sure have changed. I bring that up because back then public message boards were on a thing called USENET. Totally unmoderated, and there were no such things as spam blockers and ignore buttons. Some pretty colorful characters, like Admiral MeowCat, © Flame Giant, and the worst message board troll I've ever encountered Bernie@home.com . This Guy polluted the Browns forum so badly several posters though about hunting him down in Baltimore. You should know that Goolie won the coveted "Kook of the Month" Award there for being a total jerk. Regarding the old AOL board- the core of this group started there. Yeah Ghoolie too. Back then AOL was a pay service, and at least the message boards were moderated. Old Ghoolie got kicked off at least a couple dozen times, but like a bad penny he kept on showing up. All you needed to re register was a different credit card, and since his (now former) wife worked at a bank- no problem there. There's guys from that forum I really miss- they've moved on- Bees4Indy, ArtBeitz (Barry McBride) who founded what is now scout.com, and MetalMarte. What happened is Stan (our major domo) Atenears got POed at the overzealous moderation and started this place. The rest of us moved along with him. Things went fine till we had a major schism over the quarterback situation- that turned into Bark-ing H-ard that auto corrects to (Brady Quinn Homo Fan club). I can't even post the names of the worst offenders that caused the ruckus, because Stan still has them on auto correct like (mz the pussy ), and a few others. I still drop in occasionally to the 'Tard, because there's a few posters that left who I really respect, and know football inside out. I've actually met the elusive Shepwrite, who used to be a major poster here who migrated over there. Regarding the scout.com boards, I used to poke my nose in the pure football forum, but I haven't been there in years.
