Summer '17 Series... (Fargo - Season 3)

Recommended Posts

Racking up Fargo (Season 3), inaugural season of Genius, and the final season of The Leftovers.

Fargo ep 3.01 has already set the hook. Ewan McGregor is playing dual, lead roles. Mary Elizabeth Winstead (think Ramona Flowers in Scott Pilgrim vs the World) is the lead "bad girl". Carrie Coon (The Leftovers) is this season's female police Captain.

Genius caught my attention when I saw an interview with Ron Howard about it on CNBC. Looks interesting... Season one's genius is Einstein.

The Leftovers? I'm invested... might as well see it thru to the end. Plus Scott Glenn is back and he looks pissed.

Watched two episodes of Fargo season 3, pretty good. But I liked season 1 the best so far. Leftovers, been watching since the beginning. Not my all time favorite, but worth watching. Genius I'll have to check out. Better call Saul is pretty good. The Americans is outstanding.

I watch the 1st few episodes of the Americans and could not get rolling on it. I guess I should give it a second chance and start over. I love better call saul. I loved season one Fargo and liked season 2 a lot.

I loved the second and final season of hand of god too.

Bloodline on Netflix is incredibly gripping by the end of season 2.

Watched the Hand of God. Great show, but they cancelled it after two seasons. I hate when they do that.

Better call Saul is pretty good.

I tried, but never got into it. Love the character and Odenkirk's portrayal (amazes me how many comics are decent or better actors), but...

May have been due to never seeing Breaking Bad until Fx marathoned the whole series as a build up to launching Saul. Ending up bingeing every BB episode over a couple weeks... loved it, but fatigue factor may have been too much for Saul to overcome.

I hate when they do that.

Deadwood... worst leave-em-hanging ream job ever...

Fargo Season 3...

Ep's 1 and 2 were great main plot/sub-plots development including the season's most formidable menace.

Ep 3 was a quiet, character-building flashback with some potentially interesting foreshadowing.

Previews seem to indicate a significant broadening of the threat in Ep. 4.

Should be a marathon catch-up opportunity this week. I recommend that you hop onboard.

Got one right for a change... Ep. 4 flew by. Ep. 5 looks to be another "page-turner"...

Watched the final three Eps of Season 3 last evening. They raced by.

Twists... turns... throwbacks (one all the way to Season One)... and one, simply ethereal scene.

Absolutely great season...

Let the countdown to Season 4 begin...

I binge watch them when they come out on video. When will that date be?

Summer's coming to a close, but there's one series around the corner that has really grabbed my attention... Mr. Mercedes. The adaptation of Stephen King's novel starts tonite on Audience.

A little later, Sept 17th, HBO's The Deuce sneaks in just under the wire. Plenty of star power in story of the rise of the porn industry.

UPDATE:

Well I think I'm done with Mr. Mercedes. Three episodes in and it "stalled" on me. Some of it is the writing, but biggest takeaway from every episode is how cheap looking of a production it is. Keeping the accumulated episodes and will record the balance of the season, so maybe later. The actor playing the title character is very good in his role... kind of a demented Sheldon Cooper with real Mommy issues... and one of his co-workers is interesting as well. Breden Fraser, who I have liked in a lot of other work seems wrong for the lead and a couple of the side stories are a little "irritating".

Meanwhile The Deuce seems a winner. First episode is three or four story lines you know are going to converge at some point. Well acted... really well done.

My most devoted watching of the season has been the final season of Halt and Catch Fire. A series I have greatly enjoyed throughout. One episode to go.

I loved season 3 of Fargo. And the first season of the Son was not bad.

I've been meaning to restart Game of Thrones from the beginning. I watch the first season when it came out but lost track. I've read all the books and now almost finished with the third season. Really great.

I stalled on Dexter after season 6 when they threw the storyline right in the fucking toilet and jumped ahead a year without resolving any of the interesting storylines. I will probably eventually pick it up again but...

Are these out on DVD yet?

Like said... "on a silver platter."

But all is not wasted... reminded me about The Leftovers. One of the strangest series I've ever followed managed the impossible... they pulled off a conclusion that worked... even made some sense in the context of the entire storyline.

Your welcome and the what?

I could have got back and edited this but I just had a chuckle at my redundant sense. Restart Game of Thrones from the beginning.

lol... Did that, or at least one of the two, prior to the launch of this past season. DVR caught every episode and took in 2 or 3 a nite. Forgot so much... caught so much foreshadowing that was beyond detection in the absence of foreknowledge.

Then the season raced by...

The final season is going to be epic...

I looked it up, could not find an answer either way.  If you know so much, just say so.   this is just a yes or no answer.  On the other thing you asked me to supply you with what was likely an hour and a half of research I had done.

And I notice you still did not give the simple yes or no answer.  If you don't know...just admit it.
