Lol

I smell some politically correct jerk offery here.

Dan Snider @ #1.

I wonder what criteria comes to play here...

WSS

Well, he's also basically fucked his franchise by trading everything for RG3, disrupting the balance between GM/HC and QB, and now the team is in an utter state. But yeah, I'm sure it's mostly the political correctness thing...

Not really sure why Haslam is on there because it appears that his idea to wipe the slate has worked out for the team.

This list is weighted on politics. More than what they actually do as a sports team owner. Because you're right, Jimmy had a rough rookie year as an owner, but he made it right quickly.

I think Jimmy Haslam being on there is a stretch. He's 10x better than Randy Lerner. Where is the credit for firing Banner and Lombardi? For Hiring Pettine and promoting Farmer?

For that matter what exactly was the problem with Randy Lerner? He spent whatever he was asked to spend.

Actually did what the fans wanted by hiring real football people and keeping his nose out of it.

What is the bitch with Jimmy Haslam? Cleaned up his mess didn'the?

Snark aside I'm sure it is too.

When the president asks the Department of Justice (or Treasury or whoever) to fuck with a professional football team, and the periodical writing the list [wholeheartedly support that President], I'd say politics has a great deal to do with it.

Not to mention all the idiot Browns fans squealing for us to make that deal....

LOL, the Rolling Stone's political bent comes into play in that list. For those who never pick up an issue, it makes Barak Obama look like a conservative.

Rolling Stone figures those owners are so rich, they should give everyone free tickets to the games.

I thought Lerner was disengaged, not interested in the franchise all that much. Disengaged people don't make the best hiring decisions, IMO.

And I wasn't bitching about Haslam, I was praising him. :)

I don't think politics or anything like that goes into that list totally. Maybe a little.

I think it is anyone that has come up for scrutiny over some issue that comes into play.

E.g. for Snyder it is clearly the "Redskins" name issue (plus some meddling)

For Dan Gilbert it was probably the scathing letter he wrote about LeBron when he left (though clearly they hold a grudge over that longer than LeBron does.

For Haslam, it is the threat of indictment.

Plus since all these magazines are so New York centric they are clearly going to put the owners of bad NY teams at the top. An owner of a team in Sacramento or Kansas City.....or Cleveland (as most of you are right....the Dolans have managed the Indians the worst imo) who is as bad or worse at running a team won't get the same treatment as a NYC team.

For the Thunder they are just pissed because those guys move the team out of Seattle. Fair enough. But it that sort of thing.

Jerrry Jones has to be #1 by a long ways. He could have won 2-3 more

Super Bowls with the talent he had on that team with Jimmy Johnson. Hell

he even won one in spite of Barry Switzer being coach. He insists on being

GM of the team and running the show, Snyder is terrible but he still has a

way to go to catch Jerry.BTW Haslam and Gilbert on the list but not the Dolans

who throw nickels around like manhole covers????

Of course politics is a lot of it. Rolling Stone is calling Haslam one of the worst owners on more than just the truck stop rebates, but because his company is the top supplier to the drilling and fracking industries. Doesn't get any more political than that.

So. OK, maybe then the list does not mean that these guys are the worst owners because of the way that they have mismanaged their teams.......or screwed over the fans.......but because these are just the 'baddest guys' out there because of the way they conduct their lives and business. If so, so be it. These are the worst owners from a personal life/political point of view, not a sports management point of view.

I guess that is what I get for not reading the article.

Edit, OK, after looking at the list it has about half to do with the management competency, and the other half because they are "personally/socially vile". Very well. Fair game I guess for Rolling Stone.

Notwithstanding what they say here about these fatcat owners, each and every one of you wants your picture on the cover.

Art Modell and Donald Sterling are missing which leads me to believe this means current owners. Otherwise this last would lack any credibility.

Also, the reason Haslem is on there mainly has to do with the Pilot/Flying J scandal.
