Shocked at the poor showing, but credit to Clemson. I am actually looking forward to a competitive Championship game.

Hooker and McMillan both balled out. Clemson simply dominated the trenches both ways.

And yet he has an amazing lifetime coaching record including three National Championships.

You don't necessarily have to have a prototypical NFL quarterback to win NCAA Championships or Heisman trophies, it's been done many, many times.

And who says Tebow isn't an NFL QB.

True. Like some of you guys are saying, college coaches aren't being paid to train QBs for the NFL. They're paid to win with a lot of offenses that aren't compatible for the more complex/complicated NFL schemes in football life after. This is a big reason the supply for our demand doesn't look all that sexy to some of us.

I watched a ND game earlier in the year where the QB that was better wired for the NFL (Kizer) took a backseat in reps to some QB that was better suited to run the option. The option QB didn't even do that well enough to remember his name the night I saw him.

When we reflect back on when Ohio State morphed from good team to unstoppable during their last National Championship - it began when Cardale filled in for Barrett. Look at the margins of victory especially against teams like Alabama and Oregon in the post season and route of Wisconsin. Unfortunately, that Cardale spark disappeared the next season.

lets not forget how young this Buckeye team is. This team will bounce back in a hurry. Champions next year.

They'll win in the Big 10; but a smart defensive minded coach like D'Antonio can really expose an indecisive QB like Barrett. He doesn't play well against Michigan State and I don't think it's by accident. Clemson did a lot of the same things to him. When they put numbers at the back end, his indecision and lack of trust in his accuracy allowed him to get sacked when Clemson was only bringing 3 upfront. On a couple of those, if he decided to run when he had an opening it would have been a 4-5 yard gain instead of an 8 yard loss. You can't hesitate against teams that really know your weaknesses with enough talent to expose them.

and again a very young OL that will get better. Maybe a new QB might help. Barrett was the reason Trubisky went to UNC instead of OSU. Bet Urban wishes he had Trubisky instead.

I think that is a feather in his cap.

He's not there to produce NFL QBs, he is there to win college football games.

Three championships, three different QBs.

Zombo

Exactly correct.

I don't see any of Saban's QB's playing well in the pros, and no one is critical of him for not producing NFL QB's

Urban Meyer hasn't produced a NFL caliber QB ever.

Alex Smith of K.C. says hello.

"Smith attended the University of Utah and played for the Utah Utes, wearing number 11. He finished fourth in voting for the 2004 Heisman Trophy and was selected as the 2004 Mountain West Conference Player of the Year. Smith posted a 21–1 record as a starter in college, while leading a high-powered spread offense under head coach Urban Meyer."

no one is saying meyer isn't a great coach. i'm a huge fan of he and the bucks.

just amazing to me that when the whole nation is watching on the biggest game of the year for you, you trot out j.t. fucking barret. the college and pro game is so far apart now when it comes to the QB position that any team is lucky to draft a true nfl caliber pocket passer.

and even though i'm a bucks fan i'm also a realist. if watson had been starting for the bucks they would have won that game, and i'm no watson. fan. you could put pryor, braxton, cardelle and J.T. in a room and between them couldn't count to 11. and what about your heisman trophy winner. what a flippin joke.

Interesting. The place Trubisky did choose didn't start him until this year. This is more of a hunch based on hearsay but I think he backed up a QB with a similar skillset/game to that of Barrett at NC.

yes, i know, yet when the browns had the chance to sign him in FA everyone here except me balked, bitched and moaned about that proposition. yeah i hate smith and the chiefs so bad that i picked them to represent the AFC in the super bowl this year last february. don't see anyone else here going out on that limb.

who fuckin watches the utah utes anyway? same assholes stuck in utah that's who.

Timing is everything Marquis went on a run of spectacular play during that stretch.

I'm not defending the way JT played at all so don't think that, but he actually is a very intelligent young man if that's what you were getting at with count to 11 thing. Braxton isn't a complete idiot either. The other two I won't comment on their intelligence haha. Now as far as the bucks go they were one year ahead of schedule and it was thanks to that defense. The offensive playcalling has been elementary all year. I wouldn't even draft JT in the seventh round because of "arm talent" or lack there of, but Ed Warriner and Tim Beck do not put their players in a position to be successful.

To piggyback on the defense I wouldn't mind drafting Hooker in the first round but it's not really a need. Marshawn Lattimore is an absolute stud and I would be ok drafting him with our second first round pick if the pick is in the 10th to 13th range. I think he will be lockdown and he has good size. They didn't even throw at his man last night. Gareon Conley in the second would be good value if we are looking corner and don't get one in the first.

.851 all-time winning percentage.....w/o a star QB....

anyone who wins national championships with a 3rd string QB and Tim Tebow, has to be the greatest coach....everrrrrr

He's had star QBs. just not NFL type QBs. Well, just Alex Smith. But idk the last OSU QB that had some success in the NFL.

IMO this was Meyer's greatest coaching year of his career. He graduating

practically a starting NFL team and still won 11 games. They were a year ahead of

schedule this year.

Having said that I agree with most of everything people have said about J T Barrett.

He is a good runner but as a passer he is awful. He holds the ball too long, has a

slooooow release, and is not accurate. A bad combination. I know he will be the

starter next year. He will win enough games but not the big one.
