they must or they are just abiding by the rules set forth by the CBA. i would think that's the only reason his keister isn't on the streets looking for other work.

the browns and the NFL must be crazy to think that now, after all this time, he will clean up his act in a 3 month span. or let's say he goes away in a box for 3 months and tests clean and is reinstated.........who's rollin with gordon given his history concerning this matter going back to HS and who knows what he was doing then? wasn't he popped like 3 times before we drafted him? and what 3 times (now with a diluted test) after?

uh.........

Yeah...Where are all those "let's count on Josh Gordon" folks now?

uh.........

A brief history...

October 20, 2010 - at Baylor, he and teammate Willie Jefferson are found asleep in Taco Bell

drive-thru. Police found marijuana in Jefferson's car. Jefferson, who was

driving, was kicked off team because it's his 2nd violation. Gordon suspended.

July 2011 - Gordon suspended indefinitely for failing drug test and testing positive for

marijuana.

August 2011 - transfers to Utah

2012 - fails drug test. Suspended. Declares for NFL Supplemental Draft. Tell's Plain Dealer

he's a "changed person".

June 2013 - suspended first 2 games for violating NFL substance abuse program. Tested

positive for codeine.

July 5, 2014 - arrested in NC for driving while impaired. Suspended for 10 games. Plays in 5 games

and looks like he could give less than a fuck.

January 2015 - suspended for entire 2015 season.

April 2016 - test positive for marijuana and dilution.

You haters/fickle fans need to back off and give the kid a chance.

Gordon agent wants probe into who leaked the

failed drug test.

another lawsuit waiting to happen.

dump the stupid bastidge, isn't worth

trading him after he ever gets reinstated,

for a very low 7th round draft pick,

and that's iffy.

Add to the above the fact that he takes plays off & hangs out with Manziel.

Come on young players...see what the Browns will tolerate if you're talented! Party Central!

Bullshit! Send the message that, regardless of talent level, track records such as Gordon's will NOT be tolerated in Cleveland.

IMO, it can cost us PLENTY to keep waiting.

Interesting article claiming his tests weren't a fail by the standards in place.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2016/04/12/josh-gordon-pushing-for-investigation-of-confidentiality-breach/

The investigation is to leaking of medical records and the articles written stating its a failed test. Also we seem to be reacting to BS reports him and Manziel are rooming together. Seems that they are NOT roommates. I thinks its the media's way to stay relevant.

He has until August first to prove himself. Apparently Goodell gave him until then to clean up his act and prove he can stay clean. The NFL really wants him to come back I guess.

He is talented, and other than the drugs- isn't a character risk. I could see this.

Mik- I agree- even if he tests totally clean, and gets reinstated in August- should the Browns take a chance on him? Hmmmmm. He'd probably have more value to the team than some Street FA hanger-on. My feeling- take him on, but count on him as much as you would a Practice Squad guy. He gets busted again- it's time to dump him.

Stupidity clarification here. During 1 year suspension, Josh was tested & passed? Last months test showed THC but under league limit? Only last months test shows diluting agents were used? So a cover up (Josh) uses dilute & NFL calls it even for false reporting a failed drug test which equals to a 90 day probation period with new testing vs. life time Ban?

Just to see exactly how much things have changed since this was written back in 2012:

Former Baylor WR Josh Gordon hopes to leave his past behind him

By John McClain on July 10, 2012 at 4:03 PM

The worst part of receiver Josh Gordon’s life was being suspended by Baylor and missing out on one of the greatest football seasons in school history. From his position on the outside looking in, Gordon watched his former teammates finish 10-3 and win the Alamo Bowl. He saw his former quarterback, Robert Griffin III, win the Heisman Trophy.

“Leaving Baylor was the hardest thing,” Gordon said after working out for 21 NFL teams on Tuesday at the Texans’ practice bubble. “I’d get up in the morning, turn on ESPN, and there they were, some of my best friends doing such great things. They did exactly what we believed we were capable of doing when I was there. “Everything I thought I had, everything in front of me, just went down the drain. I didn’t want to stop chasing my dream, so I transferred, sat out the season and worked as hard as I could to start from scratch.”

Gordon, who grew up in Houston and played at Lamar High School before heading to Waco, had no one to blame but himself. He created the problems that caused him to enter Thursday’s supplemental draft. “The supplemental draft isn’t the way you want to go into the NFL when you’re growing up, but considering my circumstances, I’ve got to attack it with a full head of steam and do the best I can,” said Gordon, 21.

In 2010, his sophomore year, Gordon played in 13 games, including five starts. He caught 42 passes for 714 yards and seven touchdowns and added six more receptions in the Bears’ loss to Illinois in the Meineke Car Care Bowl of Texas at Reliant Stadium. In October 2010, Gordon and teammate Willie Jefferson were arrested after they fell asleep in a drive-through line at a Taco Bell. Police found marijuana in Jefferson’s car. Jefferson, who was driving, was kicked off the team because it was his second violation. Jefferson transferred to Stephen F. Austin, switched to defense and became an All-America defensive end and legitimate NFL prospect.

Gordon got another chance. He finished the season. The charge of misdemeanor marijuana possession was later dropped. But in July 2011, coach Art Briles suspended Gordon indefinitely for an undisclosed rules violation. “It was due to a failed marijuana test,” Gordon said. “It was against school policy, of course, and I was (suspended) in the summer. I’ve definitely put that part of my life behind me. I don’t plan to ever go back there. It was a difficult time, but I learned from it, and I’ve moved on.”

In August, Gordon transferred to Utah, where he prepared for what would have been his senior year. But he passed it up and entered the supplemental draft, where he could go as high as the second or third round. “They (scouts) want to know what kind of character guy I am,” he said. “They want to know if I can be trusted. They want to know if I’m going to be a guy that always has off-the-field issues. I want to make it clear I’m not going to be that guy. “I know how much heartache it caused my family, how much strain it put on me and my family. I don’t plan to ever go back there again.”

Gordon’s agent, Jeff Nalley, set up Tuesday’s workout, which was overseen by former UCLA coach Reggie Moore. Quarterback Jevon Snead threw passes to Gordon. Gordon (6-31⁄8, 224) ran the 40-yard dash in 4.52. “I thought everything went pretty well today,” he said. “I’m happy with what I did. “Having a chance to play in the NFL is a dream come true for me and my family. I appreciate having this opportunity. If I’m not drafted, I’ll be happy to get a chance as a free agent.”

It's not really a suspension he's been on. More like a lifetime ban but allowed to apply for reinstatement after one year. And that is up to the commish. He is not allowed to have contact with the team and I'm not sure what contact he is allowed on the league level if any.

I used to do a lot of drug testing. We all have some THC in our system and even if we never used we will many times get a garbage reading of under 10ng per ml. Then we had the sensitivity range of 10-25 where we would know someone was using but it was under our cut off threshold of 25 and above. If the urine looked clear like water we knew they were flushing their system. If we got a sample that was clear we would get another test where it wasn't. My guess is Gordon gave a urine screen that was diluted and in that sensitivity range where they are sure he is using but not meeting a legal standard.

Pretty much what I was saying OBF. If the urine had a specific gravity < 1.002, and a THC around 30ng, just under the league cutoff of 35ng- well sorry Charlie- we don't believe you. Though they COULD have asked for a retest two weeks later.

And if the THC was 3?

Former Baylor WR Josh Gordon hopes to leave his past behind him

By John McClain on July 10, 2012 at 4:03 PM

Okay, let's get a progress update on Mr Wonderful 2 years later to see exactly how sincere and seriously he's taking all those promises and assurances above when we examine who he chooses to hang around with in a world where actions speak louder than words:

Report says Browns WR Josh Gordon ticketed for speeding, passenger in his car had marijuana

Published May 30, 2014

The Browns are aware Pro Bowl receiver Josh Gordon, facing a possible NFL suspension for another failed drug test, was ticketed for speeding last weekend. A passenger in his car was cited for marijuana possession.

Gordon was pulled over for driving 74 mph in a 60 mph zone on May 25, WKYC-TV reported Friday. According to the report, the passenger in Gordon's Mercedes was issued a citation for possession of marijuana in an amount under 200 grams. The marijuana was found in a blue bag with identification. The passenger said the marijuana was not Gordon's.

That mother fucker fooled my ass again dad blast it. That said, when he was informed he could return to us in 2014 to join a 6-4 nice story in progress - he assured Cleveland fans we would see the best of Josh Gordon yet. NICE! Okay, I can't help it - the bait looks delicious enough to handle the risk of a sharp hook to the lip. And then all we got was 1 good game when we turned 7-4 before we got the disinterested version that didn't care enough to know the playbook, took plays off and needed to be suspended by the coaching staff. My confidence in him finally became permanent flat line off a long enough trend. And all he has done since is remind me what a terrific idea that was.

So where are we 2 years later in 2016? He's hanging out with Johnny Manziel and diluted urine. "What do we have to lose" by keeping the #1 WR spot reserved and tenured into our plans for the guy who keeps choosing marijuana over football? How about asking for the very first time "what do we have to gain by keeping his disinterested ass any longer?" I'm really looking forward to this parade we can throw him on the 12th of Never.

He doesn't count as a roster spot until he (possibly) gets reinstated. Obviously, the Browns are proceeding as if he won't be there. So if, if, if- we take him back- some poor ST guy is going to get demoted to practice squad.

I'd say the odds of him passing the next piss test are 50\50. He flunks another one- I'll say it's time to cut bait.

If he flunks another one, I'd think any decision the Browns make would be moot...

Sashi did seem unfazed... I believe "not counting on Josh being reinstated" is close to being a quote.
