Many suggest that if a piece were as offensive to other faith traditions or communities it would not be tolerated, much less embraced. (try this with the image of Muhammad) Johnson, who was in Memphis, Tenn., working on a new condom-related installation last week, stood by her past explanation that she wanted to spark a conversation, not deride a religious figure. (try this with the image of Muhammad, that should spark some conversation) Keegan said museums "present art and ideas on a broad range of subjects... that challenge and engage." "If museums made their decisions on donor reaction or negative responses to programming, we as a nation and a free society would be far poorer than the loss of a future donation," he said. (some Muslim art along the same lines given to the Pope would be very engaging) For some reason it is only the Christian faith that gets this kind of "art" treatment. It is an easy target. It's true mainly because some fanatic mooslim will take a rifle to someone over it, not because Islam is somehow looked at in a more favorable light. That's what always kills me about the right, they have this woven tale in their minds that liberals secretly want to live under a caliphate. As if liberals have worked for womens and gay rights all these years just so a caliph can come along and shit on all of it literally overnight. Yes likely scenario indeed. What faith is throwing gay people off of roofs today and killing thousands of innocent people? In what name is all of the evil terrorism around the world being done? Out of FEAR none of these courageous *artists* would make artwork like these with the Muslim religion so let's call these hypocritical cowards out for who they are.
