We won one game. Manziel?

Giving up on the season already? Because that or a Hoyer injury is the only way Manziel starts this year.

Our D can't stop the run. The Ravens 4th string RB gashed us for 91 yds on 18 carries and their 3rd down back added 63 on 11. Time for Pettine to retake control of his D...

Worst I can say about the Offense is that Shanny got too cute too often tooday...

He established a good ground and passing attack only to follow it up with tickeration after trickeration. Whatever measure of respect we earned form our opponent with our play was pissed away by our play calling.

I hope you are joking. Hoyer has been solid and isnt turning the ball over. He is definitely not the reason we are losing games. You can hang that squarely on the D and special teams

Maybe let's not let Brian Hoyer throw the ball in crunch time...

WSS

Steve surely that is sarcasm?? I mean wasn't it Hoyer that led the winning drive in crunch time last week against the Saints? Yes it was.

No sacks and only 3 qb pressures, and 1 of those was the pick. Terrible job by the defense at getting to the QB

Amen!!

Mingo sucked today

So did special fucking teams

What the fuck chris tabor ?

Why the fuck is Chris Tabor still here even? Him and his squad suck balls

"The dawg pound got me, wind was stiff"

Billy Cundiff can find a new job

I still cannot fathom why Cundiff is our kicker. Surely there are other options that are as good or better.

Yeah, I was simply joking about Hoyer, but I did try to keep everyone grounded this week and focus on the fact that we still have a long, long way to go. Maybe we can put down the Pom-poms this week and discuss football.

Sarcasm?

Not quite.

Two games when running the ball probably would have taken enough time to be in position to win. Steelers and Ravens. Both time he threw in crunch time both times failed.

Joe H missing his man by a country mile hurt too but it probably shouldn't have gotten to that

WSS

So Steve is the point you are making that we should have run in those scenarios as opposed to calling passing plays? I can see that point..........

Yes.

I thought that was pretty clear.

Two running plays at the very worst would have gotten the same amount of yards as two incomplete passes and eaten up a lot more time.

The last pass he threw should have been thrown. The dumbass announcers don't know enough about game management, so I'll fill those in that think we should've run on 3rd and 7 with 2:08 seconds left and fucked up the time management.

The 2 minute warning was going to stop the clock. We stood a better chance of getting the 1st down with a pass and not a run. If the pass is complete, game over.

If the pass is incomplete, then 1 of 2 things were going to happen:

1) Either the play takes all of the time down to 2:00 (unlikely) and the clock stops at play's end, regardless of the play's outcome. (either on the inc or the 2 minute warning, doesn't matter)

2) The play doesn't take all of the time off the clock (what happened) and it stops at say 2:04...... Big fucking deal! Since the clock stops after a change of possession any way (after the punt) and the 2 minute warning came while the punt was in the air.............The clock was going to stop anyway.

The last pass attempt on 3rd and 7 before the 2 minute warning was the ONLY CORRECT PLAY CALL for that situation.

If you don't understand it, I don't know what else to tell you.

Only kruger is getting any joy rushing. Mingo was horrible today

honestly he really only got in good once. For some reason I cannot figure out we stood him up ALL FUCKING day. Last year he may not have sacked Flacco but he pushed the RT back into Flacco's face the whole fucking game. He just doesn't rush all that well from the standup, sometimes he stunts inside from the standup and does ok. But in 1v1 straight up rushing he does better with his hand in the dirt. Why, even on obvious passing downs....we stood him and Sheard up the entire game is simply vexing. I'm so pissed at how Flacco was able to walk off our field with barely a ding. So angering.

pettine had better step up with his so-called hybrid scheme.

you have to let sheard and krueger and mingo be at the end pass rushing with their hands in the dirt.

fuck this 3-4, 4-3 5-6 or whatever the fuck it's called.....let the animals run free!

I think it's also time to start moving Armonty out to OLB to give the other guys more spells. Those guys get more rest throughout the game and we keep our most technically gifted pass rusher on the field on the field more, and also in 1v1 situation on the outside instead of on the line where he has to fight through a lot of double teams. I'd move Armonty between the line and OLB spots throughout the entire game. I'd fucking put him at safety and blitz him at this point, just to let the team know this shit is unacceptable.

The last fuck you from Banner

Agreed.. he looks like he's lost half the time and he looks like he's out of shape and out of breath... he has ZERO football instinct, or intelligence for that matter... He blows dawg nutz.

This was Mingo's first game back from whatever it was that took him out. I don't think he was 100% in any case, they just had him playing to spell Kruger and Sheard and then go into the by week. He hasn't looked bad though this season. Nobody's really standing out from week to week. In any case I'm not gonna bag on our sack leader from last year 2 games into his season.

he's a bust. pettine and shanny should be fired and as a whole the browns suck....

HA!

we played a team with great skillz and who many have picked to win the division and the AFC.

we fucked up on 2 crucial plays. you do that you lose.....even thought you were beating the fuck out of that team for 4.75 qtrs.

I completely agree with everything you said. We just seem to find ways to lose, week after week. How does a guy wide open, 10 yards behind

the defense, fall down? After a big interception, first down at the 30. On another drive, first and goal at the 9. And we find a way to fuck it up.

Every time.

That's the SECOND time we've had a potential walk-in TD and the guy trips himself.

How about discussing why our run defense sucks?

Hoyer was very good today. Haden is still on his summer holidays.

That bomb Haden gave up was because of those new rules about press coverage. A lot of good corners have been looking bad because of it. Last year Haden jams Smith at the line and for five yards. Meanwhile Flacco gets mauled by Sheard or Kruger or both. Hoyer played very well and continues to take care of the football. It's all going to balance out. It'll take time and it may cost us a playoff appearance but it'll all balance out.

All offseason we were told that the Browns defense was going to be one of the top defenses in the league and due to the lack of weapons on offense, they would have to carry the team. So where the fuck is this top defense? Seems to me the offense isn't playing too bad. Though they did get conservative in the end, instead of stepping on the Ravens throat when they had the opportunity. Haden ought to be ashamed of himself for letting himself get owned by an old ass WR who is in the back 9 of his career. In fact Haden has been off all season. Me thinks maybe that big payday is going to his head!

There are a lot of reasons for this loss. It's about the details, all of which contributed to the loss. Aside from our run defense sucking:

1) If Hoyer hits Gabriel in stride on that deep pass, he doesn't fall down and he scores the touchdown.

2) If the Browns pick up on the overloaded right side of the line (Raven's left side) on Cundiff's blocked field goal, we score the field goal and the Ravens don't win the game on a field goal. Why didn't the Browns do the same thing on the game-winning field goal?

3) If Pettine realizes that Cundiff sucks at 50+ yards and punts the ball, maybe the defense makes a stop and the Ravens don't get a short field. He probably elected to try the field goal because he didn't in Pittsburgh, and that's a mistake. Gotta know your limitations and play around them.

4) If CBs play off the line on a few key pass plays, the Raven's strategy of creating picks to get open might not work.

There was no reason on earth to switch to Little League ball, when we were running it so well, and using that to play action pass so well....... No reason at all. Shanny needs to figure out this offense's identity and do it quickly.

Fuckin' trick plays....SMH

Exactly... and the thing is he has figured it out. He just seems incapable of staying with it. Was the same story at WSH.

Clever play calling does not require "clever" plays; it requires mixing up the core plays that have worked cleverly...

What it is going to take is the same thing the Browns have been lacking for years. PLAYMAKERS.

I was going to say linemen...

That's the SECOND time we've had a potential walk-in TD and the guy trips himself.

Third... but who'd counting...

Correct comments would have been:

1) Had Gabe not broken stride and slowed down...

2) Had the Browns blocked the outside rusher on a FG attempt for the first time in the history of the game...

3) Had the snap not been low...

4) Had the CBs not read this board for years and complaints of playing too soft...

I had to reach for that last one... but the first three were made easy by reality.

My take on picks is you have to run through them, go down to the ground if need be to draw attention to them. Only way they are going to be called these days. Certainly won't be called if players try to run around them...

It wasn't a perfect throw but Gabriel misread it as well. Either way this play IMO was the biggest tide change that contributed to the loss. No matter how you slice it that should have been a walk in TD and would have given the Browns a 28-17 lead with the crowd going crazy late in the 4th. Instead a few stupid plays later and a blocked field goal lead to the downfall.
