THE BROWNS BOARD

Friggin Hue Jackson

This is not a call to fire Hue but c'mon man. Reporter asks a legit question on why not attempt a FG on the 34 with 1:17 left knowing that you need 2 scores and to get another onside kick as well as score. Kicking the FG leaves you more time if for some miracle you recover the second onside and Hue's response, "more time on the clock means they (Tennessee) have more time to make plays". If Tennessee recovers the ball the game is over. For fuck sake if you can't think fast enough in the pressroom how can you on the field.

Not sure about the 1:17 mark, but I know I was thinking FG after Kess took the sack for -10 and we called TO at the 0:56 mark.

Agree that the Titan end of game decisions are not disqualifiers, but does take me back to my early concerns over a HC also acting as OC and QB "guru".

I was thinking the same thing! Our head coach has no idea how to run a two minute offense. OMG!

And at every Press conference he says; "We have to do it better"! "We just have to get better" "We need to play better" "It's on Me, We have to do it better" "We need To Get Better" "The guys are playing hard, We just have to play better" "There's No Quit In these guys, We just have to Get Better"

I've been a Browns fan since Paul Brown and Jim Brown

GO TRIBE

CLEVELAND GETS ITS SECOND CHAMPIONSHIP IN Six Months!!!

Fixed..I understand we had to put our team into good positions to build thru the drafts. But from here on out..It Better be all about TOP TALENT..Hue's getting the most out of the young-ins but Talent Wins

^this!!

i've heard others say "well wouldn't you move down considering all the holes we need filled?"

uh, no. first off we already have a ton of picks. can we at least TRY and pick a keeper in the top ten no matter what the position without trading down? ok, if we have the first pick and we're not drafting QB, which i doubt any team will at #1 cuz there isn't a 'great' qb to be had, then maybe try and get something for a trade down for a couple of spots. but if the #1 pick is going to be the next kahlil mack or joe thomas you have to keep the pick and use it.

Talent Trumps Quantity every time! Most teams have "that guy"! Julio, Antonio Brown, Jordy Nelson, Gronk, and these guys have QBs so yes we need talent! I wanted Elliot in the worst way and thought Bosa would be someone to go after. I don't think Kessler is the long term answer and still don't like the pick. Dallas has the two guys I wanted. Seems like every year we draft guys who are with the team for an average of two or three years! nuts!

Now they need to rebuild the entire offensive line and get a QB thanks to Pettine and Farmer. Not to mention the secondary! Haden just sucks! Overrated and should have been traded long ago.

Are we seriously shitting on Hue fucking 6 weeks in? You gotta think he has to think a little outside the box because we don't matchup well with anybody let alone zero depth everywhere.

Not to mention we have 12+ players on IR and We have walking wounded on both sides of the ball!!! A rookie QB and,and,and.....personally I think Hue Jackson & Co. Should be coach o the FUCKING year!!! Ya have to have legos to build ANYTHING!!!...GO BROWNS

Not at all- but outside the box. and "questionable" are two different things. I still haven't forgotten the fake punt that fooled no one.

Hue's doing the best he can with the hand he's been dealt. But if he insists Erving is the answer at center and gets Kessler hurt- I may change my mind. Do you have to be blind that you dragged a guy in off the street and he outplayed your first round pick?

It was a shitty explanation. I prefaced the comment by saying he shouldn't be fired but is he above criticism? The team is losing because there is little talent but bad calls will doom a mediocre team.

It is a bit of a double standard,......just imagine if "he who should not be mentioned" was still coaching and making some of these decisions........the lynch mob would be beyond angry......

I fully support Hue. The players obviously are motivated & play hard for him & never quit, but it's a young Team still being built & developed. It takes time.

Has Hue made mistakes?....Certainly.

Has & will Hue learn from his mistakes?....I believe so.

Have Hue & his Staff helped many of these young players improve?....Definitely.

As one of my favorite shirts states....."HUE GOTTA BELIEVE".

I agree with you and Canton Mike. Enough of this trade down to get more picks stuff. It cost us Julio Jones and Kahlil Mack. That only works if you get equivalent talent farther down the board, and for the Browns, that's never happened yet that I can recall.

The only thing I'll disagree with you Mik is about qb. one (or more) of them invariably rises pre-draft. Anyone on the board can raise their hand and take a bow if they can honestly say they had Goff and Wentz at the top of their boards this time last year.

I agree Larry... I have always been a proponent of taking TBAA. They always seem to make an impact regardless of the position.. I have always hated drafting solely on "Need"

My question for Hue is this..... Why differ and put the worst part of your team (the defense) out first? We have done this 3 times and trailed 7-0 within 5 minutes

I think is pretty much standard operating procedure and also believe the Browns are 1-6 on first drive TDs this year and they have only scored a TD three times in seven games in the first quarter

Hue has had a rough couple of games regarding game day management. Playing conservative and punting today on 4th & 2 before the half was his call, and while I wanted us to go for it, I understood the logic - get to 1/2 time down 4, see how the starting QB is doing, and try to win it in the 2nd 1/2..........

............ then he called a defensive TO when Cincy was more than content to get to 1/2 time up 4..... Can't play both sides Hue, if you wanted to be aggressive then you should've gone for the 4th and 2, but once you didn't, then you needed to get to 1/2 time like you hoped for when you were on offense... If he doesn't call that TO, then the hail marry never happens.

Bad, bad game day management.

Hue screwed it up totally...AND...it ended in such a fashion as to HIGHLIGHT his screw ups.

If you're too much of a wimp to go for it on 4th and 3 on their 38....why on earth would you ever call time out when the Bengals were willing to let you off the hook and go into half time? Especially since you only have 2 time outs anyway...and you've got a terrible defense.....and you're starting the 2nd half with the ball....

I defended Hue last week for going for the 2 point conversion when he did.....when all of the media people were chastising him....but today scared me.

-----

...and I don't like the idea of running the QB to make yards. We've got Kessler in the locker room....and we're running the QB, and he's not even sliding. Did that make any sense? (having said that...nice TD run by Hogan) :)
