The Chinese study noticed that for the Arctic “both climatology and linear trend are better reproduced.” Climate models anticipated Arctic sea ice extent and volume would reduce as the world warmed, which it has. Also, it is known that the southern sea ice has been growing in area. Many factors are at play, including increased precipitation.
