Its an issue because if Im in a life threatening situation I don't want to depend on a mental defective. A transsexual most likely wouldn't make it out of basic training where the majority of other mental defectives are bounced though so except for which gender is going to get stuck temporarily bunking with these freaks I guess it probably won't be a real world issue. But the problem isn't whether they'll make it. You, I and most people that did serve know that their fancy delusions wherein theyre so fucking unique and special and everyone has to accept their delusional belief that they can become the opposite sex won't fly in an organization that emphasizes fitting into a greater whole, the problem is that liberal civilians are bound and determined to foist this upon an institution where it clearly doesn't belong. But then that could be resolved by quietly having a word with the CO and saying 'I'm not comfortable, I'd like to be moved to another squad' or whatever. Or couldn't it? I'm not sure how that would work in the military. That being said, like with gays and women, if they're willing and capable then more power to them.
