Post FA First-Pick Mock drafts

I would be much happier with this one, except for the fact that it would be ridiculous for us to get 9 picks in the first 4 rounds.

I went for ceiling moreso than need, hence me taking 4 defensive linemen, two TE's and two WR's when we clearly won't do that.
Round 1 Pick 12: Danny Shelton, DT, Washington (A)
Round 1 Pick 27 (DAL): Breshad Perriman, WR, UCF (B+)

Round 5 Pick 11: Niklas Sade, K, North Carolina State (F)

Round 6 Pick 13: Erick Dargan, SS, Oregon (C-)

Round 7 Pick 12: Corey Grant, RB, Auburn (D)

Your Future Picks:

2016 Round 1 Pick

2017 Round 1 Pick

I took both QBs. With Manziel, McCown, Shaw, Petty, Grayson and Lewis... there has to be a QB in there somewhere.

I took the Big DT that everyone wants... and put Denzel Perryman behind him to light fools up.

I picked up the best TE in the draft, face it, we need him since Cameron left us.

I picked a fast WR and and a couple big uglies for the OL.

A MONSTER at FB. Vargas will look good leading the way for West, Crowell and Grant to TDs. Grant is lightning in a bottle.

Lynden Trail is like 6'7" tall and a former basketball player... jumpball bitches.

I see that Dargan is a smart Safety. Someone to beef up and train to take Whitners spot in the future?

I just grabbed a kicker, I don't know who is a good kicker right now..

You guys getting Ogbuehi in the 3rd are getting a steal. Here's the deal on him. He was recruited and coached by Mike Sherman and Jim Turner (of Dolphins OL rookie hazing fame). These guys made Joeckel, Matthews, Ogbuehi, Patrick Lewis who started for the Seahawks when Unger went down, and Jarvis Harrison who will be drafted this year.

Sumlin hired a new OL coach upon arrival who was terrible at coaching run blocking (not to mention we basically don't run the ball in the first place). Joeckel and Matthews were good enough from their Sherman/Turner coaching that it didn't affect them. They also only played for the new OL coach for 1 and 2 years, respectively.

Ogbuehi stayed a 3rd year, and saw his stock plummet a bit. But the entire team fell apart in the second half of the year. Our OC refused to call a pass longer than 5 yards. The boxes were stacked. No matter what, without any deep threat, no one was going to look good run blocking.

But this is an elite level pass protecter with a load of athleticism that I would consider, even now, to be raw. He came in to college at about 255. Didn't play tackle until his junior season and didn't play left tackle until his senior season.

Point being, if we can get this guy in the third, that frees us up to not have to take a Clemmings type guy in the first.

... just telling a player to go vertical every time he's on the field will make your offense that much more ineffective.

Norv demonstrated that with his misuse of Benji for an entire season. I swear he thought Travis' middle name was go deep.

Plummeted more than a bit...

Plausible explanations, but Ogbuehi's tape at LT was simply awful. And while he looked more comfortable at RT, he still failed to display even fundamental skills including pass protection. Speculation is he'll move inside at the next level. I did not look at any tape of him at OG.

Too small to be at guard at this level. Jarvis Harrison is a guard coming out of A&M this year who has a perfect guard body. About 6'5", 335.

I'd like to see a full tape of Ogbuehi failing to display fundamental pass pro skills. Sorry but that's laughable. Especially in 2013 when he was at RT. You know why Johnny was so good? There were plays he had 10 seconds to throw.

Just watched some tape on the guy. You can definitely see the drop off in 2014. Not sure if that's a product of him mailing it in, poor coaching, or discomfort on the left side. But watch him stonewall guys in the pass game in 13.

Alabama

LSU (really nice work here).

Arkansas (good DEs he's playing against).

I admit his hands could use some work. Also, he's thicker than I remembered, so I guess a move back inside isn't out of the question.

So my analysis was not so laughable?

I only studied 2014 tape... three games worth. No kick step to begin his drop, too much waist bend and even crossed his feet a couple times... these were the fundamentals I questioned.

My guess would be the move left screwed him up... he was having to think about his sets and steps. And even after his return to the right side, his play there was hurt by having enough reps at LT that he was no longer comfortable at RT. It happens...

Uhh... Idk. You tell me?

Can we change our user names on here? We can do a "name-change" bet. Unless you want something that exists outside of this forum

Could do a sig bet. Other option being if you plan on attending any home games this year, we could have a beer wager.
