  2. Does anybody think Freddie will call plays? Or just a traditional HC?
  3. I think Pettine has mishandled Manziel since day 1. WWBBD?-What would Bill Belichek do? He would NEVER have talked about anything "off the field" with Manziel from day 1. He would have never even uttered the words "off the field," and certainly would have never admitted that Manziel may have a weakness... Right now, Belichek would say something like: "It's my job to play the guys who give us the best chance to win. As long as you do your job, you play." Maybe the Owner and GM have been unfair to Pettine from day 1 by trotting him out to handle all the questions about Manziel all this time, but he sure as hell hasn't handled them well. Trying to be too much of a "dad" and not just a football coach... He should leave it up to the owner, GM, and player development coordinator to manage whether or not Manziel is "eligible" to play... based on his off-field stuff. If you're the HC, you have to play him b/c he has looked good, and he might be the QB of the future for your team. To shove him down to 3rd string... not a good "coaching move," BUT a good "Non-enabling" move... unfortunately that is NOT Pettine's job... Having said all that... I think there is more to the story than we have heard, and most of us are abreacting b/c we are missing the critical piece of information that probably explains what's happening. I find it hard to believe Haslam would let Manziel sit on a Monday Night Football game without having some ammo to tell his fellow owners when they start complaining about ruining the ratings for that unwatchable game...
  4. Terrible post. Its fans like this that I can't stand. They'll root against their own team just so they can "be right." Douche
  5. We can't judge Manziel based on W-L record moving forward. Our QB play has been solid, despite our record. As a team, they are ranked: 12th in Yards per game (260.2) 13th in Passing TDs (16) 5th in INTs (6) 11th in Passer Rating (92.9) 12th in Yards per Attempt He will have to continue that level of play while also passing the "eye test" by being able to make some plays out of the pocket. It will also help if he can stay healthy. I'm glad they made this decision. It gives me a reason to watch...
  6. 11 run plays called all game... Hmmm... Duke ran it twice for 14 yards early, then he got 2 carries the next drive... Then nothing... He's our closest thing to a 4-down back. He should get 15-20 carries a game. I know some people don't think he can do that, but I'd rather be proven wrong rather than not try giving our best RB more carries... This year has been very confusing, as far as coaching is concerned...
  7. He did have a couple bad plays, but no QB is perfect. Im just trully impressed with what he can do right now and hes still developing. Seeing him start the next 6 games will be the only reason I watch the rest of the year. If Pettine goes back to McCown, I'm done with the Browns this year...
  8. I think Manziel just might be our guy... All the haters have obviously made their minds up already, but if you watch him play he is steadily getting better... Id say we go with Manziel, McCown, Davis next year and use the offseason to add some offensive playmakers and more talent on D If our coach doesn't like it... Bye bye
  9. What? That's exactly how it works in the NFL... Ultimately... If you win, it doesn't matter how you got there... I think we're arguing 2 different points here
  10. A TD is a TD no matter how you get it. I'd love to have a more "traditional" QB but I would never try to "calm down" Manziel... In practice, you point out the mistakes and coach him to "calm down," but not when he's getting it done on gameday. A good coach would adjust HIS thinking to do whatever he needs to keep his guy rolling... Not to mention, he's not the 1st QB who missed a couple open receivers in his 3rd NFL start... Im not pro Manziel or anti Pettine, I just would like to see all our guys play/coach better.
  11. I thought Pettine sounded like an idiot, even borderline like an a**hole when he made those comments about Manziel. Couldn't even give him credit... and to "Tour," You don't get credit for cleaning up the mess you created; however, but you ONLY get credit for the end results, no matter how you achieve them. Pettine's hubris and "little man syndrome" are going to cost him a job...
  12. Those fumbles can only be corrected by seeing live game action. When you go through all of last year, plus this offseason without being hit you don't realize how important ball security actually is. It takes a few live hits to get the "internal clock" and understand when to tuck the ball and take the sack. In practice and TC, he didn't have to worry about that b/c he knew he wasn't actually going to get hit... Other than those 2 fumbles, he did everything we want from him. I think he'll still be inconsistent and make some poor decisions, but it appears the ceiling is MUCH higher than if we play McCown. With McCown we're hoping for 8-8. With Manziel we're hoping for 10-6, but could easily end up 4-12... It's risk vs. reward. The reward of playing Manziel from this point forward, IMHO, outweighs the risk, while on-the-other-hand, playing the lesser risk McCown seems like less chance of reward... Manziel is currently our biggest playmaker, sans Benjamin, and I just don't see how we can keep him on the bench. He is also a ruthless competitor and seems to have that "cutthroat" mentality where he is able to "will" his team to victory. I'm not saying he's the next great thing, but I just have a feeling this is the best time to get him out there and let him continue to adjust to the NFL game. He looks ready to make plays... not without the growing pains that you see with young QBs... but I think he could have a good season if Flip puts him in the right position to succeed.
  13. Should go uptempo and use shotgun a lot where JM is comfortable... Open up with 3-4 wide a lot and then get the ground game going if we can get ahead... If we get behind early, it'll be a long Sunday...
  14. If his elbows hurt enough to warrant PUP consideration, he wouldn't be practicing anyway... That's the shortest reserve list there is. They'll have to have a positive report by Saturday or that's whats going to happen... Or, they keep him on the 53 and stash Duke or Desir on the PUP...
