Tour2ma Posted September 7, 2014 Report Share Posted September 7, 2014 Weeks 1 & 2: A Pretty Short List QBs None of the "big names" that I saw impressed me. Most looked like good athletes who could buy time until they found a wide-open guy. Foremost among these was Mariotta who at times looked inferior to MiSt's Cook. Cook will drive coaches crazy with great play after great play inexplicably negated by boneheaded throws. Only one QB, VaTech's Brewer, appeared to have the head for the position... unfortunately he has little else and at least twice in the game he should have literally had his head examined for concussion symptoms. RBs Two caught my eye... Oregon's Royce Freeman and GA's Todd Gurley. Both have a speed/ power combo going for them that future employees will covet. WRs/ TEs None O-line None D-line Maybe VaTech's starter, Luther Maddy, is the real deal. But maybe OSU's line just made him look that way. The Buckeye's Bosa flashed a few times... we shall see. Pretty much to be considered for that award now one has to be a QB on a championship contending team. Ergo, Jameis and Mariota are the top candidates. Todd Gurley seemed like a possible to crack that category with his performance. And lets note this: The kid that replaced JMZ at Texas A&M had a better game in his first time behind center than JFF ever did. So? Is it the system....or the player? Ark O-line... huge guys with a couple that can move. 3. Ark RBs: Looks like they have their own West/ Crow 1-2 punch in Williams / Collins. Collins runs "tough" 4. Most of the positive impressions were around high-motor, AZ defenders, but no player jumped off the screen and said "draft me". There be some ballers on the Mississippi St. roster: - QB Prescott has size, a nice arm and presence; - WR Wilson has size, nice hands and looks fairly fast; and - their 2 ILBs, McKinney (6'5, 249) and Brown (2 INTs) both look athletic. Nabbing another ILB would be nice because, let's be honest - Dansby's play will decline quickly in the next couple years. On Bama Cooper looks like a really good, midsize WR prospect. While I am wary of Bama RBs... I gotta think TJ Yeldon is going to be a good one. tiamat63 Posted October 5, 2014 Report Share Posted October 5, 2014 Parry stood out to me as well. I'd be interested in a mid round pick for him. Cooper plays that John Mayer football. He runs strong routes and fights through contact, I think he'd make a fine fringe #1 WR. Is he a Julio, Green or Alshon? No. But he is damn good in his own right.
