Were you stationed at Subic Bay?

Wasn't stationed there, but pulled into port there many times. From 1976-1992. Was on medical hold at the MAU camp for 2 months in Subic after an accident. Sometimes we would stay in port for a few weeks. Had a blast. Now it would kill me. Too much partying, not enough sleep.

Where would you choose and why?

I would go somewhere in South America for the cocaine, beaches, and tan women

Plus your dollar goes a long way down there.

Hard for me to say, because my actual experience outside the country is limited.

I guess it would be nice to go back to my family roots on the Greek Island of Naxos, although the socio-political climate in the country is dismal.

Really not sure where else because - by far - I prefer to be here. I know, this is a cop out. But true.

I've voluntarily move abroad in the past and am looking to go back in the next couple of years to Singapore. Love that place. Outside of there, there are a few places I'd move - for career, it'd be new york or maybe california somewhere (around the silicon valley stuff I guess); Hong Kong maybe, but London's pretty good for finance. For leisure, it's hard to beat SE Asia, but basically I'd be looking for somewhere with good beaches, snorkelling/diving, and quiet. But also with high speed internet for porn watching sports.

I guess we have to take into consideration at what point in our professional careers we are. I'm fortunate enough to be able to work when I feel like it just because I enjoy it. But as we grow older I think that health care would be a concern in most countries other than the US. Any unique problems I believe would be best handled here though I don't doubt that the commonplace ailments would be sufficiently controlled in most civilized places.

What makes you think healthcare in other developed countries is not at the same standard as the US?

Well we've kind of been through it before but the only one I've had any first hand experience with is Canada. Today I can call the Cleveland Clinic and have an appointment either later today or tomorrow with one of the top retinal specialists in the world.

Same deal with cardiac specialists.

Yes, Brother Steve, and the weather - alone - would make me say no.

My experience has, pretty much, been limited to Denmark - Scandinavia by definition - but without the natural beauty of Sweden, Norway, Finland, etc.

None of them, truth be told, come close to Chicopee, MA
