From the article:

  • "Actually, in the same memo announcing the revocation of DAPA, the Homeland Security Secretary said that Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals would remain in place, breaking a key campaign promise. As Daniel Horowitz of Conservative Review pointed out last week:

"Trumps DHS has issued almost 125,000 DACA cards (per Obamas unlawful Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals order) to illegal aliens through the second quarter of this fiscal year (January through March). ... This surpasses the 122,000 level of amnesty cards issued during the final quarter of Obamas presidency (Oct. 1-Dec. 31, 2016), which means the Trump administration is not even slowing down the pace!"

Just last week, [DHS Secretary John] Kelly assured Congress, We are not, not, not targeting DACA registrants right now, and pleaded with Congress to pass comprehensive immigration reform."

So, on this specific issue (DAPA/DACA), what "promise" has Trump actually kept?

he revoked the obaMao exec order from ever being enacted DAPA.

in revoking, that's a great thing.

the fact that they still issued daca cards isn't the issue. You are confused - DAPA <> DACA

"Deferred Action for Parents of Americans and Lawful Permanent Residents, known as DAPA,"

But the policy guidance made clear that DHS would continue to honor DAPA's sister program, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA.
Asked about the administration's decision to end DAPA and maintain DACA, despite the right criticizing both programs as being an amnesty granted by executive order instead of legislative mandate, Kelly said at a news conference here at the closing of a Central American prosperity and security confab that it was a simple move.
"One was enjoined by the courts and the other one wasn't, so just house cleaning," Kelly said.
Pro-immigration advocates had held out hope that DAPA could go into effect. DACA protects roughly 750,000 undocumented immigrants who were brought to the US illegally as children and know no other home, but DAPA would have extended the protections to parents and potentially 5 million more people, according to estimates.

From the article:

"In reality, Obamas DAPA program never took effect;

----> a federal judge stayed it, <----

...pointing out that Obama had exceeded his authority. Its unclear whether Trump will actually begin deporting more illegal immigrant parents, especially since the Trump administration has continued to fight back against deportation of the so-called DREAMers."

Cal, the DAPA program never got off the ground in the first, it was suspended by a federal judge. That mean's Trump's "revoking" of it was purely for show; there was nothing to revoke in the first place. That would be like someone today taking credit for revoking slavery in the US, even though the 13th Amendment already had.

I know it wasn't in effect. a judge stayed it.

but you know what? inevitably, it could gone on and be approved by the

liberal 9th circuit court of appeals, and THEN it would be enacted.

the revoking takes it permanently out of consideration. Which means, it sure as hell

was not just for show.

and it isn't at all like your slavery example.
