Westside Steve
"Were they wrong to in her in the first place? Absolutely. But..." "Was the South on the wrong side of slavery? Yes. But..." Woody is still upset that the neanderthals didn't treat the cromagnon with respect. If I may paraphrase sergeant Hulka from Stripes: "Son there aint no slavery no more. One Post
Yes the South was on the wrong side of slavery but remember Lincoln didn't care all that much as he was willing to allow some slave territories if he could have kept the Union together. It was also expensive and becoming less and less efficient as technology moved on. Also remember that slavery was across the world come or even the English who lecture us now about it. As did the American Indians who we have turned into magical sense in hindsight. And it's still happening around the world even in places that we are scolded if we don't speak respectfully of. The world moved on slavery's in the past. Everybody's ancestors got shit from somebody. And probably gave shit to somebody. WSS And also it was the lack of indentured servants that caused most of slavery. Later most indentured servants worked for travel to the west. Unsympathetic
https://apnews.com/8a31455e342f405494e22ba1ddf1deb2 HOUSTON (AP) — Hundreds of individuals, some armed, gathered at a Houston park to protest what they believe are efforts to remove a statue of Texas hero Sam Houston because he owned slaves. There hasn’t been any organized effort to remove Houston’s statue, which has stood near a city park since 1925. Protesters, some who carried Confederate flags, said Saturday they’re concerned local activists have been calling for the statue’s removal.
