How to Win the Conservative Vote

The big difference between conservatives and liberals are that conservatives are more independent and self reliant and don't feel the need for big government to micromanage every aspect of their lives.............

Libs love the nanny state where the government does it all for them from cradle to grave. The problem is (and history bears this out) government doesn't manage things very well....of course we need government but the less the better.

The nine most terrifying words in the English language are, 'I'm from the government and I'm here to help.' Ronald Reagan 40th president of US (1911 - 2004) ...

As a "Lib"... at least in contrast to the general population here... please allow me to respectfully disagree, OBF...

Liberal covers just as wide a range of views as conservative does. Can't paint all on either side with a broad brush as tempting and convenient as it is to do so. I don't believe most libs feel "micromanaged" in everything they do. That's an opinion... from here on I'll go with my experience.

I certainly don't feel "micromanaged" in my day to day doings. I don't drive... see a stop sign and feel managed. Go out to eat and see the calorie count by each item on the menu and feel managed. Shop and look at the nutritional info on processed foods and feel managed. Take the child safety cap off my aspirin bottle at nite and feel managed. Yet all are examples of rules and regs produced by some level of government.

But I do see, read or hear of many more government efforts to safeguard me everyday. Military and Police are two I think we bought agree are necessary. Others we likely do not agree upon are the CPB, SEC and EPA. These are all government agencies that I see as protection against corporations, a significant number of whom have lied, cheated and stole away our money, our security and our health in the past. They do not directly impact me daily, at least not that I notice, but their absence (or impotence due to lack of funding) sure has and will.

I'm not anti-corporation, but I am anti-unchecked corporatism. Not anti-capitalist, but I am against unfettered capitalism. I've seen that a collection of souls, good souls, in an organization does not imbue a corporation with a soul. It is the strangest phenomenon, but it is real... at least in my experience.

Think about your day to day activities. As a conservative do you really feel micromanaged? If so, how?
