Did James Taylor Jump the Shark?

How did a classy guy like James Taylor allow himself to be little more than an out-of-water seal at a water park at the urging of John Kerry?

Pathetic? Pitiful? Choose your word.

So long JT..................................it was great, great listening to you over the years.

I guess we all 'Jump the Shark' sooner or later.

So what's your point, Woody?

What does one have to do with the other?

You must also suffer from W-envy.

It is pretty clear what one has to do with the other. Older celebrities doing something divisively political to alienate some of their fans. It looks like one case was much worse than the other though....

Wtf is W-envy?

Fair point, Woody.

They are all 'pathetic' in their own way, I guess.

Maybe we can start a list of famous people who jumped the shark.

I'll start with Colin Powell in his infamous WMD presentation in front of the United Nations

Al Gore's climate change pitch was jumping the shark.

And kind of poisoned the well for the rest of you guys.

One thing about the James Taylor video is that nobody sounds good with a small video camera in the back of the room.

Exactly. Now we have people saying "Al Gore said we'd all be burning alive by now, we're not, therefore there's no such thing as global warming"

And it really underscores my often stated response that reaction to scientific evidence is exaggerated. Then people like Woody start screaming.

Seems like the MMMGW crowd should have picked a better spokesperson.

I definitely respect JT as an artist and have enjoyed his music for many years.

The point, really, isn't about him at all except he allowed himself to be put in this corny situation by Kerry.

The entire episode seems to be a segment of a variety of movies currently being shown on Comedy Central.

"You've got a friend......................................." Campy

Al Gore was something of a self-appointed spokesman though? While it's good to highlight the science, we should be listening to scientists, not politicians about these things.

Exactly, and the science is pretty clear.

All of the actual doomsday talking heads shouldn't be seen as the authorities on the matter. While those actually presenting scientific evidence about a wamring world or rising sea level shouldn't be lumped with the doomsday talking heads.

Then, those on saying that man made climate change is happening have to not only sort through the mountains of shit science and experts thrown at them by deniers, but also sort through the legitimate and not legitimate claims made by those making doomsday claims.
