THE BROWNS BOARD

This is fucking laughable!

I don't give a fuck if I annoy you, lol.

DieHard made a joke attacking my school that was clearly false. I corrected him. If that annoys you than don't make the Michigan jokes to begin with.

As for why I take the most shit? Because this board gets divided on a lot of issues, he really the same people are on the same side. I'm the one on this side that has the least amount of filter. I get treated like shit, and when I try real debates and conversations, it is hardly ever reciprocated. So excuse me if I don't try yo fight through it. The other side here though has plenty of guys throwing around insults and being "abrasive". I am their common target. I'll live with that.

I have seen a lot of these guys post their "arguments" for awhile now. If they insult me, I couldn't give a shit. Osiris, Chris, Vapor,etc.... If I get on their nerves directly, then I'll reexamine my posts.

In short. If you don't want to hear about how great Michigan is, don't insult it ;)

Its not your views that annoy me. It's not that you went to Michigan, although you seem to think that's the cat's ass. In the real world whether you went to Michigan engineering school or case western engineering school or got your o.j.t. in the army corps of engineers you have a pretty good chance of getting hired. No one's as impressed with where you went to school as you. What annoys me is your proclivity to not posit your own original thoughts e.g. "yeah I agree with Chris/vapor/heck" and when called on it say "well I once answered but no one listened" The worst attribute an engineer could have would be piggybacking others while not using their own logic and reasoning.

also you say "lol" so fucking much. Are you really laughing out loud at stupid shit like "spelling is up to my phone"? It's called proofreading. Don't turn in a blueprint with errors all over it and blame it on your phone on the job, bud. It ain't gonna fly.

Well, thanks for the advice on how to do my job. Errors happen typing into a phone. I'm sorry it bothers you so much.

The school you got your degree from can be huge in getting in the door. Many large, high profile companies only recruit a handful of schools. If you want to work at that company, going to one of those schools is a big advantage. Of course once you're at a company where you went to school doesn't matter much. Then its performance, luck, etc.

I do think its awesome I went to Michigan. I will defend my school when it is attacked. I'm sorry you don't have the same loyalty to some school. Again, if it isn't insulted, I don't post anything. That easy.

I post my own thoughts. I really do. The selective reading comprehension of some posters on here is not my issue to fix. I do post the same thing many times in repeat threads (clime change) and it gets old. If I agree with a poster on here, I'll fucking say I do. Again, sorry if that really gets to you.

Woody, please let me be honest here. The impression you give off, whether it reflects reality or not, is that a very high proportion of your self-worth is wrapped up in the university that you graduated from, to the point that you feel the need to defend it here in front of these people whom generally you don't know or like and to a degree you don't even really care about. This is why people keep ripping on Michigan, because you keep reacting - it's a fun game, remember when kids being bullied in school were told 'just don't react and they'll get bored eventually?' The same applies here.

Let's not forget, I actually went to a better university than yours, and yet I don't hear anybody ripping me or Imperial about all the college stuff. While it's important to be proud of where you have come from, you can't let it define you, because when you do, and people start taking shots at it, you feel like they're taking shots at you. Does it *really* matter that people see Michigan as a world leading engineering college? They aren't the ones that are interviewing you for your next job.

Also, proof read, it's really annoying when every discussion descends in to people mocking you for things like 'pweiod' and 'clime change'

Plus we are steeped in Ohio territorial loyalty to the Ohio State University Buckeyes. Michigan is our sworn enemy. If he were from Pittsburgh he'd get shit for that.

And rightfully so. :)

No doubt, not something I would automatically pick up on for obvious reasons.

That's totally subjective and depends on your major.

I went to a school called Bowling Green State University that was a teachers college full of hot women and 8:1 girl to guy ratio.

I wouldn't of went anywhere else. I went Greek. All I did was party and get laid.

Wouldn't of? Typo or just not an English major?

And "went Greek" means assuming the position of catcher among the aficionados of sodomy?

When my University is attacked, I will defend it. I frankly do not care what it makes others here think about me. If I see post after post of Michigan getting ripped on, that is objectively wrong, I will say something. If they're trolls, and it is what they want, then so be it. It doesn't take much time out of my day and maybe it will educate just one person reading that thread.I very, very rarely ever bring Michigan up on my own. The vast majority of the time I am responding to someone else. Usually though, no one remembers that first part, and the impression is I am just always going on about it. There's nothing I can do to change what posters on here do and do not remember.

No one rips on your school because no body knows anything about Imperial. No one here is ever going to rip on foreign schools one way or another because, well, they're foreign to them. Plus, many here are from Ohio, they're sworn to hate Michigan with a blind, closed-minded, reason devoid rage. The majority of people on Ohio (or anywhere in the US) probably have never even heard of your school. It is not a 1 to 1 comparison by any means. I am proud of my school, and I disagree with a lot of people on here about a lot of thing, and generally don't sugar coat it. When insults get flung in my direction, Michigan is their first choice many times, and I will defend it.

No, it doesn't matter at all what the people on here think about Michigan as a school. Most likely, none of them will ever have an effect on my career or the career of future Michigan grads (though some worked in an engineering field). I am acutely aware of how other academic institutions and major companies picture my school, and I am very happy with it. Of course I don't think changing their minds (which is damn near impossible) will ever directly affect me down the road.

University rankings are an imperfect science, though I wouldn't be surprised if Imperial is better than Michigan in most things. Looking around though, they seem pretty much even in Engineering, which is what I'm mostly concerned with :). Still though, not bad for a public state school. And at the end of the day, I don't think I had to worry too much about international competition finding my fist job.

But again, the reason people don't rip on your school, but rip on mine, doesnt just boil down to the fact I defend mine. Mainly, where we went, where the posters on here are from, and how I post about other things drives that. I mention I went to Michigan for engineering, and then I deserve that it gets ripped on? I defend my school once, and then I deserve all of the backlash? I don't agree with that.

All of the typos you see come from when I type on my phone. When I type on a computer, little red lines appear to let me know when something is misspelled, and I correct is (like everyone else). That doesn't occur on my phone, and it is a pain in the ass to move the cursor around through what I just typed to get back to the typo. (Windows Phones, would not recommend them over Android, but my company didn't give me that choice.) Finally, to pile on the my excuses ;) , most of my posts off of my phone happen during the day when I have a break at work or am at lunch or something. I just want to post my usually quick thought and move on... not sit there and try to get the cursor back to where it needs to go.

So, in summary: Graduating Michigan was a major accomplishment for me, and I am 22. As of right now, that may be my biggest. Yes, I realize they are just people on the internet, trolls, characters, whatever, but when my school is attacked I will defend. Not for their benefit, not really even for mine, but maybe someone else reading. Idk. I don't bring my education up all of the time, it is in response to others. The reason you do not is for many reasons, more so than just how we respond to posts. Ummm... oh and my phone isn't the greatest but I do much better on a computer. I think that was most of it.
