VaporTrail
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap1000000049946/article/olympian-jeff-demps-hopes-to-play-in-the-nfl-in-2012?module=HP11_headline_stack Former University of Florida football and track star Jeff Demps will pursue a career in the NFL. The Olympic silver medalist has signed a standard representation agreement for football, a souce close to Demps said Tuesday, with the goal of playing in the 2012 season. Demps recently returned from London, where he took part in Team USA's 4x100-meter relay heat and earned his hardware. Suddenly, a speedy, likely coveted free agent is on the market midway through training camp. With the Gators, Demps earned NCAA titles in the 60-meet dash indoors and the 100-meter dash outdoors. On the football field, he gained 2,470 rushing yards and had 23 touchdowns in a stellar career. He was also a kick returner with 28.8 yards per return, showing explosiveness. Demps went undrafted in the 2012 NFL Draft after telling teams he would be a full-time track athlete. Plans changed. Demps, the 5-foot-8, 190-pounder, is looking for a team. Am I crazy? Not crazy but I heard several teams have interest so he probably would have a choice of who he wants to sign with.

slimdawg
Hey i agree with Browns149... taking a look at this guy cant hurt. And if he ends up being worth a roster spot on any team, maybe it might be a little more enticing for him to come to a team like Cleveland where the team is young and the possibility for playing time is greater, as opposed to going to a veteran team where hes going to ride the pine alot more because he cant crack the starting lineup. Just my 2¢

TJMAC
I watched all of his games at UF, he is defiantly a special player. Wouldn't hurt to bring him in for a Special Teams spot. Hell, he's even blocked a few punts. Worth a tryout, IMO.
BaconHound
If they were unwilling to sign Cedric Benson, why would they sign Demps?

Browns149
Benson has atleast 4 arrests in the last 4 years . And was suspended for such activity just last year. He's one dui or punch away from a 4-6 game suspension

PoeticG
Benson didn't look washed up last year... Sorry, this argument about once a player hits 30 they are no longer viable is just as bad as the never signing a free agent one. What's the difference in signing a big name F/A QB and drafting a 28-year-old one? Cap-space? Browns have tons of that. Anyway. They could keep BJAX and sign Demps. The Browns' running backs are made of glass. ...Maybe all of them except for Richardson. Trent Richardson IS the man of steel, Brother. He could very well continue playing on the knee that's bothering him most likely, but, his legs are his vehicle to success in this league... not a one hit wonder like a Hillis or a Jerome Harrison or William Green. No, a long term career that will rival that of Jim Brown's career. I know it's a little premature but whatever, that's my opinion and that's what I see happening. Having the surgery before the season is just right. T-Rich doesn't need reps. He's a bonifide beast, your quintessential "Hulk in the Hoodie"! This is great for us that he's out right now, that means 1) He's fresh. 2) There is very little tape on him from the pros, from what he's evolved into since the BCS Championship Game. 3) He's going to catch a lot of teams off guard and it's going to be awesome to watch them try and scramble all frantic to try and catch up to Trent as he's long gone for 6... I could continue on to six if you'd like but I think you get the point.

VaporTrail
BJ doing a great job protecting his quarterback. Hunt Daddy
Richardson would have had that block. And if you look at that picture, other than the obvious Jackson miss, that is great protection. The o-line, even Shwartz, liked pretty good Thursday.
