Redskins, made playoffs in 1945...and not again until 1971 Steelers made playoffs in 1947...and not again until 1972 One year difference. Note, the Chicago/St. Louis Cardinals tie the Redskins for longest playoff drought: 25 years. Last appearance, 1948, next appearance 1974 Interesting that the 3 longest playoff droughts in history all nearly coincided with each other. Teams with the shortest/longest playoff droughts: The Baltimore Ravens only went 4 years once, right at the beginning of their existence 1996-1999. The Cowboys went only 6 years in their history without making the playoffs. This was at the very beginning of their existence from 1960-1965.
