1. What is the all time head to head regular season record between the Brown and Redskins? (within a margin of error)

A lot of games... mostly in the old days when we dominated them... 50-ish games? maybe 2:1 for us? WAG 33-17
Note: Browns and Redskins have never met in the postseason. But the Rams beat them... in the Snowbowl...

2. Who served as Head Coach for both the Browns and Redskins? Norv

3. What Browns Hall of Fame player served as the HC of the Redskins? Otto

4. What Quarterbacks that have lead the Redskins in passing for at least one season also played for the Browns? Campbell and Rypien?

B. What may have been one of the major reasons for the poor showing during the above era? Shitty teams???

10. What dubious single game record do the Redskins hold in respect to regular season and post season play (aside from the info in Q.9) Most lopsided loss... like 77-0 vs Bears in a playoff game. Bears sprang the T-formation on them IIRC...

11. One of the Redskins owners in the 60s/70s was Jack Kent Cooke. What other professional sports team did Cooke own at the same time? The Decatur Staleys? :)

12. Name the former Redskins Head Coaches that are in the Hall of Fame...either as a coach or player. Hint: 6 names. Lombardi, Gibbs and Allen as HCs, Otto as player... Pardee?

Bonus. Appropriate for this time of year: What is the "Redskin Rule" when it comes to Sports and Politics?

3. What Browns Hall of Fame player served as the HC of the Redskins? Otto Check

B. What may have been one of the major reasons for the poor showing during the above era? Shitty teams???

Looking for more of an explanation, Rich got it.

10. What dubious single game record do the Redskins hold in respect to regular season and post season play (aside from the info in Q.9) Most lopsided loss... like 77-0 vs Bears in a playoff game. Bears sprang the T-formation on them IIRC...

Check, 73-0 actually.

25 years from 1946 to 1970

B. What may have been one of the major reasons for the poor showing during the above era?

While the rest of the NFL (and AAFC and AFL) were integrating, the Redskin...being run by an avowed racist, refused to do so. They did not have a black player play for them until like 1963.

10. What dubious single game record do the Redskins hold in respect to regular season and post season play (aside from the info in Q.9)

They have been beaten by the worst score ever in an NFL game.....regular or postseason, when they lost the 1940 NFL title game 73-0 to the Bears.

No team has ever scored more points in NFL history than the 73 scored that day by the Bears....and naturally that score is the largest point differential in a game in NFL history.

11. One of the Redskins owners in the 60s/70s was Jack Kent Cooke. What other professional sports team did Cooke own at the same time?

The Los Angeles Lakers. He sold them to the Buss family in 1979. Just in time for Showtime.

25 years from 1946 to 1970

The Steelers actually made the playoffs once in those years? Or they just never made the playoffs, period, until 1972, and that's a different thing?

The Steelers went 24 years with no playoffs. The Redskins went 25 years. So it was very very close.

Redskins, made playoffs in 1945...and not again until 1971

Steelers made playoffs in 1947...and not again until 1972

One year difference.

Note, the Chicago/St. Louis Cardinals tie the Redskins for longest playoff drought: 25 years. Last appearance, 1948, next appearance 1974

Interesting that the 3 longest playoff droughts in history all nearly coincided with each other. (Next on list were Saints with a 20 year drought...1967-1986)

The 13 year playoff drought that the Browns are currently on is their longest in history.

Teams with the shortest/longest playoff droughts:

The Baltimore Ravens only went 4 years once, right at the beginning of their existence 1996-1999.

The Cowboys went only 6 years in their history without making the playoffs. This was at the very beginning of their existence from 1960-1965.

The Panthers also have only gone 6 years one without making the playoffs. 1997-2002

And, just another note on the subject, the following teams have have more than one 10 year streak of not making the playoff:

Steelers 24 and 14 year streaks

Eagles 17, 14 and 10 year streaks

Rams 11 and 11 year streaks

Packers 15 and 10 year streaks

Lions 16, 12, 11, and 11 year streaks

Cardinals 25, 15, and 15 year streaks.

(the Redskins 25 year streak is the only one in double digits)
