The best system of govt for humans is the combination of both, been saying it for years. You identify a few core activities that "must" be collectivized...such as energy and food, and leave the rest to a free market. You allow a civilization to shit through it's soil as we've been allowed, it's only a matter of time. Unfettered capitalism ravages precious resources because the people involved cannot think longterm, they are beholden to capitalist structures such as "shareholder wealth".

There are "non essential" goods that I want govt nowhere near. There are goods and services that the consumer benefits from market competition. The goods and services themselves also benefit. But take coffee for instance, number two commodity in the world behind oil. Coffee is going up in price not because demand is increasing so much, but because the worlds coffee producing countries have so thoroughly gone through their lands that coffee plants are becoming more and more vulnerable to molds. It's wiping out a lot of crop in south America. And all to unsustainably fuel the west's desire to drink coffee non stop all day long. A lb of good coffee might $20+ in two years, that's gonna suck. So of course the commoditized free market answer is to come up with more and more chemicals to spray on the fuckers to keep the disease off. Welcome to capitalism....do you have cancer now because of all this shit? Oh too bad, you should feel privileged though to have led a life where you can go to your local crap dealer and buy a fresh 1 year old canister of sanka swill and make pots of shit coffee all day long. So take your cancer like a man faggot. .

So you are a naturalist and a health-conscious individual? Why are you drinking so fucking much coffee in the first place?

I don't. I have 1-2 cups a day "max". But I know people who proudly proclaim to drink 2-3 pots a day. It's shit coffe of course. I drink 1-2 very good cups, use honey no white sugar. But my consumption habits are not the norm you get that right? People who drink coffee usually do so all day erryday.

Yeah I know people that drink coffee all day. I usually have two cups in the morning with half and half on a rare occasion I might stop by Starbucks during the day.

Shit? Folgers Maxwell House? Don't know don't care. My favorite as of now is Paul Newman's for the K-Cup.

I've cut down on my beer consumption but when I drink beer it's the good stuff.

And I'd be surprised if honey was substantially better for you than sugar but if it makes you happy...

I think that's a naive point of view. I think it would be great if that were true and Americans were all stalwart proud and brave and loved freedom , but the sad truth is the we are all subject to the pandering of the ruling class and have no more say in what goes on then the student council in a high school.

Yes it pisses us off but most likely when the freedom is gone, it's gone and kids born into a less free Society take it as reality.

This is true to a point. But democracy/republic gov'ts have the built-in mechanism there to

be utitilized. Communism and socialism do not.

A lot people fall into the trap of what you said. But, they can realize it's a downhill road to hell eventually,

and our gov structure is the saving grace.

But there is no saving grace from communism or socialism, until it completely fails, and then...

it keeps trying to succeed again.

Freedom/democracy/republics can falter, sure, but like back in the WWII days, communists/socialists keep

getting into our schools and labor unions. Back then, the communists and socialists were a dangerous threat outright,

now, it's more subtle, like the annoyance of a stupid woodpecker pecking on an aluminum pole constantly.

crap. I hit the thumbs up button. lol.

I know a lot people who drink coffee only a couple times a week. I make coffee a few times a week - the rest of the time

I drink lemonade with a few packets of pure stevia. Once a month, I cook up some bacon, french toast, fried

potatoes, and good old burnt gravy w/or w/o sausage. But usually, I'm drinking lemonade with Sunbelt bakery

no preservatives fruit and nut granola cereal. I usually drink tea, especially green tea. Lately, I started making dandelion tea,

it's real good. I have mint tea with that at times, that I grew myself. I'm perplexed - I can't figure out how to start

growing all my own green tea. ?

True enough but remember it was a global shift right around the time of World War 1. Countries around the planet started shifting from monarchies and feudal systems to some sort of democracy and in many cases socialism and communism. Those are always good wedge issues, as most people aren't rich the rich are easy to blame. And it's easy to convince those that aren't rich are suffering from discrimination and would be happy and successful if we could only take down the top 1%. That form of government can lead to different places. You could be Cuba, Denmark, the Soviet Union, or Sweden.

When we look at outrageous abuses of the First Amendment and see the second amendment being slowly chipped away it forces you to realize that these rights are not forever. And when they are gone it's like trying to put the toothpaste back in the tube.

And you understand I'm not celebrating our eventual loss of freedom (like some) just a little bit cynical.

I understand, and it's true - the left has been chipping away at our freedoms because

they like criminals who think going to prison is cool, then when they are there, they

eventually...usually get released,

and they commit a crime to go right back in. They've become accustumed to getting

free stuff, and even though they lose their freedom, the free meals and medical care

keeps them cooped up and dependent - they don't care.

liberals think that less freedom means more gov power and control, and more free stuff for them.

Our Constitution is the only barrier to us falling apart into what you mention.

and... liberals despise the Constitution for that reason. ObaMao has made it

clear he finds serious fault with it...

it keeps him from having the power he wants, and that liberals want him to have.

The body looks at processed sugar as a mild poison. Honey is obviously not something you want to eat huge Amts of but its a vastly better for u than sugar. Raw honey that is. A lot of people don't know that most store honey is cut with syrup, like 30-40%. Raw honey is almost solid

mostly right, but raw honey is not mostly solid. it looks like a lot of other honeys.

I hope to get bees this year, still trying to buy a hive already in existence, that way you can

get honey your first year.

Raw honey is very healthy for you. The processed stuff has other sugar added often, and doesn't taste right,

and pasteurized, loses health benefits.

Some raw honey is creamed - meaning it won't crytallize after a time.

nonsense hippie songs...

And I do go to Drudge and the Blaze a lot. You want me to find stories off CNN and MSNBC and Salon that would

make you happy? Not my job.

It's a political board. I'm concerned about the state of our country. Liberals aren't. Why go to a liberal site

for information criticizing what they won't criticize?

Stop your whining, and go have a teaspoon of raw honey in some dandelion tea. It's good for ya.

I tried wheatgrass juice. It's worse than pomegranite.

Taste bad, good medicine, not a fan.

I'll have to look into lemon grass.

Also called citronella (I know you have some funny names for things ;) ). It's used almost ubiquitously in south east asian cuisine, along with chili, ginger, coconut, garlic and coriander (which I think you have a different name for but that escapes me).

I agree, wheatgrass tastes like shit, but lemongrass basically tastes like lemon.

I recently did a big order of thai ingredients from what I think is a wholesaler to restaurants, but sells individual stuff, and spent about £60 on about £150-worth of food, give or take, including things I would never be able to find in the supermarket (kafir lime leaves, fresh galangal, pandan leaves etc). Lemongrass was one of those things where I got 6 stalks for the price of one in the supermarket.

have to mix the wheatgrass with something. I actually don't mind a shot or two of it by itself....but when I juice it at home i'm usually making multiple ounces, also mixing it with kale/pineapple/carrots/apples/green tomatoes etc, etc. Basically throw what veggies and fruits I have in the auger. If it's still too "greeny" I throw some fruit juice in, problem solved.

Who has ever advocated for communism on here?

I'll wait. You take your time. I know you aren't the brightest.

Poor little woodpecker head has had his immature liberal worldview shattered with one post of the bright shining light of truth! Don't be angry little one. Many "important" people have changed their views from the nonsense of liberalism upon obtaining some real-world intelligence. Poor little fella, you're probably crying into your shit and jizz stained soccer shorts--but there's still hope for your pathetic liberal existence, just wisen up a little!

The best way to keep woodpeckers from hammering on your forum is to begin damage control as soon as you hear the first tap. And you should continue these measures even after the woodpecker has left to ensure that it does not return. Any holes the bird has made in your house should be immediately repaired and painted to avoid attracting more woodpeckers.

General woodpecker deterrents

1. Tactile deterrents

  • Although some people recommend applying sticky repellents such as Tanglefoot Pest Control, Roost-No-More, and Bird Stop to areas where damage is occurring, we are against using them. These products can get on a bird’s plumage, impairing its ability to fly and stay warm. Moreover, they can darken and stain wooden siding and cause dirt to adhere to the surface where they’re applied.

2. Visual deterrents

  • Aluminum foil strips or reflective tape, such as Irri-Tape, manufactured by Bird-X, hung from areas where damage occurs may scare away woodpeckers. The strips should be long enough to hang freely and blow in the breeze.
  • Windsocks hung from house corners serve the same purpose as aluminum foil and may be less intrusive.
  • Handheld windmills, especially those with reflective vanes, can be attached along areas of damage. The motion of the revolving vanes may discourage woodpeckers.
  • Plastic owls hung from the eaves of a house will generally frighten off woodpeckers for the first few days. However, birds often acclimate to the same visual stimulus in the same exact place every single day. Terror Eyes manufactured by Bird-X, may prove effective as an alternative to plastic owls. This product bounces from a spring, and the lenticular, holographic eyes follow the bird in any direction. Therefore, the product is actually moving, making it less likely that the birds will become acclimated to it.

3. Sound deterrents

  • With an electronic distress call system, a recording of a woodpecker distress call followed by the call of a predator such as a Sharp-shinned Hawk is broadcast through a speaker system at various intervals to frighten woodpeckers away from your house. One example is BirdXPeller Pro, manufactured by Bird-X.
  • A movement detector that makes noise when it senses movement can be attached to damaged areas (this will also keep deer away from your garden).

Listen to the distress call of a Downy Woodpecker, followed by the call of a Sharp-shinned Hawk »

4. Other preventative measures

  • To prevent damage under eaves, lightweight nylon or plastic netting can be attached from the overhanging eaves to the siding of the damaged building. One type of netting on the market isBirdNet, manufactured by Bird-X. To keep the birds from reaching through the net, leave at least three inches between the net and the siding.
  • Aluminum flashing can be used to cover existing holes or to line the corner or fascia boards of the house. You can paint it to match your siding.
  • Setting up a suet feeder in your yard may draw the birds away from your house. Keep the feeder supplied with food throughout fall, winter, and spring when natural food is scarce and the birds are hungriest because of the cold weather. Remove the feeder during the hot summer months because the suet may become sticky and adhere to the bird’s plumage.
  • To dull the sound produced by drumming, place padding behind the area where the bird is drumming.

Nesting or roosting woodpecker problem

  • As long as a nest is not already established, existing holes should be plugged with wood putty. If the birds already have eggs or young, the holes can be sealed after the nestlings have fledged, usually by midsummer. The preventive measures outlined under General Woodpecker Deterrents can then be followed to keep the woodpecker off your house.
