This article is way to vague really to have a firm POV. Was he in uniform? Did he get emotionally aggitated after the confrontation? Was the business plainly marked as no firearm allowed?

No he was not in uniform. He apparently did state on papers that he was off duty aux or whatever. In any case, I have "zero" problem for them taking every precaution and having sheriff's come and identify him. And yes urgent care centers are a no firearm facility so if you're not in a uniform...you shouldn't have a piece on you. The dick move is not treating him afterwards. That gives me the douche chills on that place. Unless he was an asshole about it, that's my only caveat. Otherwise get over it and treat the poor bastard he has a detached retina...that is no joke. My old man had that.
