In the first round, the Browns landed defensive tackle Danny Shelton, who should be a Week 1 starter, and offensive lineman Cameron Erving, who may start his career at guard before eventually taking over for All-Pro Alex Mack at center. In the second round, the Browns got an underrated player in outside linebacker Nate Orchard. The former Utah Ute should be able to come and pressure the quarterback on passing downs right away. Running back Duke Johnson, a third round pick out of Miami (Fla.), has the ability to end up being the team’s starter when it’s all said and done. Finally, former Oregon cornerback Ifo Ekpre-Olomu, the Browns’ last pick, could end up being the steal of the draft if he can make a full recovery from the knee injury he suffered last December. He did what his team asked him to do and move to center. One guy I love having on this team. Meanwhile Shelton is missing OTA's to wait for it...finish his degree. AWESOME. Except, of course, they didn't "fail to address WR". They got Mayle in round 4. What do they think he is, a potted plant? I suspect they think he's a 4th rounder, someone who will take a little time to settle in, needs some work and is not an immediate starter or upgrade on our presumed starters. IIRC, FSU had a highly-recruited tackle that was set to take over the spot this year when Erving graduated. When the injuries happened, they tried both out at C. Erving had less of a problem transitioning to the spot in practice, hence the move. Basically it became a situation of "be above average at two positions or be very good in one and very bad in another". Ironically, it's the same situation we had last year with Greco, when Mack went down.....move Greco over and have 2 guys playing below standard....or keep Greco at guard and have one guy playing way below standard..... too bad we didn't have an Erving then....but, of course, now we do..... Every single guy they drafted is inspiring in a huge way. Every one of them has an outstanding, kickass attitude, delighted to be with the Browns, studied and/or knew Browns players already, have a hunger to win and excel - are very smart on and off the field, they even speak intelligently - good characters, great teammates.... Plus, Schwartz is a UFA at the end of the season, so not worth much unsigned.....it'll be interesting to see if he signs an extension or tests the market....
