Here are this week's survey questions. Please give your opinions:

1. Despite the losses what is the silver lining that you see with this Browns team?

Youth. Lots of young talent compiled in last couple drafts.

2. The Texans, Falcons, and Cardinals are the only undefeated teams remaining in the NFL after 3 games. Do you think these 3 are Contenders or Pretenders for the NFL Title?

The Cardinals are undefeated? Texans are definitely contenders and the Falcons could be. Cardinals, no.

3. Have you ever visited a location because you saw it in a movie...or TV show? If so, where?

All the time. For example, I hunted out the "Cheers" bar when I was in Boston.

4. Have you ever visited a location because of a song lyric or album. If so, where?

Yes, I went to Winslow Arizona so I could stand on the corner, but no girls in flatbed fords slowed down to take a look at me.

5. What is the most valuable antique or collectibe you own? (been watching too mush Pawn Stars or Pickers)

I don't own anything over 5 years old other than my beagle, she's 12. Not sure if she qualifies as a collectible.

My own opinions:

1. Despite the losses what is the silver lining that you see with this Browns team?

There are a couple:

A. New ownership, and with that new leadership. I believe JH will bring a new era of accountability and with that a new Football Operations team, eventually. It will be ttfn for Holmgren, Shurmur et al

B. The rookies. Half this team is rookies. They are learning. I Didn't expect much different after 3 games, but I will expect more competitiveness the last half of the year. With JH coming on line there will be players/coaches/front office people scrambling to keep their jobs. It will show with more of a sense of urgency.

2. The Texans, Falcons, and Cardinals are the only undefeated teams remaining in the NFL after 3 games. Do you think these 3 are Contenders or Pretenders for the NFL Title?

I do expect the Falcons and Texans to be in it all year. It would not surprise me to seem them in the Super Bowl. Not so sure about the Cardinals...though their defense apparently is the real thing. QB is their big question mark.

3. Have you ever visited a location because you saw it in a movie...or TV show? If so, where?

This and the next question were inspired by an article in the ABJ yesterday, and after I wrote it here I began making a list and was surprised by what I came up with, in terms of the numbers. Here are a few, but probably not all re movies/TV:

A. The Ponderosa, near the shores of Lake Tahoe from Bonanza

B. San Juan Batista, a small town south of San Jose CA which is where some critical scenes of Hitchcock's Vertigo took place. (the Mission Bell Tower, which was actually fake)

C. The Field of Dreams in Dyersville, Iowa

D. Monument Valley. Site of many John Ford/John Wayne movies like The Searchers

E. The VLA Array in New Mexico depicted in Contact....it is where all the huge sattellite dishes are located

F. Malabar Farm, near Mansfield, OH. Not only is this where Bogey and Bacall were married, it is the site of the huge oak tree depicted in the scenes in Shawshank Redemption. There are a few other Shawshank sites that can be visitied.

G. I have purposely driven down Collins Ave. in Miami Beach at night with Phil Collins "In the Air Tonight" blasting....as the boys in Miami Vice used to do. The only difference is I think I was in a minivan instead of a Ferrari Testarosa.

H. If any of you recall the movie "Body Double", the guy in the movie was "housesitting" this bizarre spaceship looking house in the Hollywood Hills where he overlooked the valley below and could see where a murder was supposedly happening in a house across the way. I found that house. (There have been a few other Hollywood sites as well)

I. I did retrace Ferris Beuhler's Day Off locations quite a bit, including the Sears Tower, Wrigley Field, the Art Museum, even the Italian Restaurant across from where they parke the car. I did not find the restaurant where the snooty maitre'd worked however.

J. I have traipsed up and down Baker street in London a bit. Inspired by the various Sherlock Holmes movies etc.

4. Have you ever visited a location because of a song lyric or album. If so, where?

Yes, again, several:

A. I did my turn at Standing on the Corner in Winslow, Arizona. And I took it easy while doing it. (Eagles).

B. I have been to several Beatles/Stones inspired locations: Abbey Road, Penny Lane in Liverpool, The Albert Hall, St. John's Wood.

C. I have been Down to the Crossroads, in Clarksdale MS.

D. I have been to several of the beaches mentioned in Surfin' USA by The Beach Boys, including staying right on Doheny Beach.

5. What is the most valuable antique or collectible you own? (been watching too much Pawn Stars or Pickers)

I, or rather my wife, has an antique Seth Thomas Mantle clock, which I understand might be worth a penny or two. We have never had it appraised. Beyond that I am not much of a collector...except for refrigerator magnets.

1- Haslam taking over on October 16th.

2- you guys already gave my answer.

3- No.

4- As a group, we completed Warren Zevon's "Werewolfs of London". Soho in the rain, and of course the Pina Coladas at Trader Vic's. (mighty good too.) :)

Do they have a Werewolves of London tour? (I was in London in 1976, so my time there pre-dated that song, It was Beatles/Stones.

And what song was Pina Coladas at TraderVic's in?

"I saw a werewolf with a Chinese menu in his hand Walkin' through the streets of Soho in the rain He was lookin' for the place called Lee Ho Fooks Gonna get a big dish of beef chow mein

Aaahoo! Werewolves of London Aaahoo! Aaahoo! Werewolves of London Aaahoo!

Ya hear him howlin' around your kitchen door Ya better not let him in Little old lady got mutilated late last night Werewolves of London again

Aaahoo! Werewolves of London Aaahoo! Aaahoo! Werewolves of London Aaahoo!

He's the hairy, hairy gent, who ran amok in Kent Lately he's been overheard in Mayfair You better stay away from him He'll rip your lungs out Jim Huh, I'd like to meet his tailor

Aaahoo! Werewolves of London Aaahoo! Aaahoo! Werewolves of London Aaahoo!

Well, I saw Lon Chaney walkin' with the queen Doin' the werewolves of London I saw Lon Chaney Jr. walkin' with the queen Doin' the werewolves of London

I saw a werewolf drinkin' a pina colada at Trader Vic's And his hair was perfect

Aaahoo! Werewolves of London Draw blood Aaahoo! Werewolves of London"

Been so long ago, I forgot about eating at Lee Ho Fooks, and the Beef chow mein :/

At one time that was my son's favorite song.

Here are this week's survey questions. Please give your opinions:

1. Despite the losses what is the silver lining that you see with this Browns team?

Youth. Weeden has the arm to make all the throws, and I think the mistakes we're seeing now are coachable. He's used to the window that Blackmon vs. Big XII CB's gave him; he will not get that here. If he works on his timing this year, develops chemistry with his receivers, then look out. Our offense should look sick.

Haslam. I'm ready for the dude to clean house. Bye Holmgren. Don't let the door hit your ass on the way out, you fat fuck.

2. The Texans, Falcons, and Cardinals are the only undefeated teams remaining in the NFL after 3 games. Do you think these 3 are Contenders or Pretenders for the NFL Title?

I think the Texans and Falcons are for real. I'm not sure about the Cardinals, though they did beat the Pats.

3. Have you ever visited a location because you saw it in a movie...or TV show? If so, where?

No.

4. Have you ever visited a location because of a song lyric or album. If so, where?

No.

5. What is the most valuable antique or collectible you own? (been watching too much Pawn Stars or Pickers)

Probably not worth very much, but I have Jim Brown and Don Shula signed footballs. Don't really have anything of value outside of that, my desk, and my computer.

I have thought of several more movie/TV/song locations I have been to:

A. Tuscon Movie Studios where they filmed Tombstone. (I'm your Huckleberry), and several TV shows like High Chapparell.

B. Modesto CA. I cruised the streets there thinking I was replicating what the kids in American Graffiti did. Only later did I learn that the movie, though depicting Modesto, was actually shot in Petaluma. I have been through Petaluma, but didn't "cruise" it.

C. El Pueblo de Los Angeles. The original LA. Inspired by ZORRO. I envisioned the masked man leaping across the rooftops of those buildings. I quite liked it there. It is a hidden LA gem.

D. Savannah Parks. I fully expected to run into Forrest Gump sitting there.

E. The New Bedford, Mass. Seaman's Bethel. From a scene in Moby Dick with Gregory Peck. The Bethel was a church where the pulpit is shaped like the bow of a ship.

F. The Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island, Michigan. My wife wanted to go there because of seeing it in Somewhere in Time, with Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour.

G. Boys Town, Omaha Nebraska. Without the movie starring Spencer Tracy as Father Flanagan this facility would not be near as famous.

H. Virginia City, Nevada. Here also is the Bonanza connection.

I. Asbury Park, New Jersey. Trip inspired by Bruce Springsteen's Greetings from Asbury Park album, and particularly "Sandy, Asbury Park, 4th of July". The whole area was pretty much gone, except for Madame Marie's. The Casino was there but vacant. No Latin Lover's dancing with their shirts open, no Tilt a Whirl. All long gone

J. Tony Packo's. Toledo, Ohio. Sgt. Klinger...MASH...hangout. Good food.

K. The Philadelphia Museum of Art. Come on, admit it. Half of you have run up the steps and raised your arms in Victory, haven't you. From Rocky of course. Also from Rocky: The Italian Market

L. Forks, Washington, from Twilight. OK, now, listen. I didn't go to Forks because of Twilight. But I did spend a night in a motel there years before that book/movie ever came out. But, my daughter was jealous of the fact that I had been there. I told her to not be that way, because all there was in Forks are some gas stations, motels, and diners. (It is near the entrance to Olympia NP). Nothing whatsoever to write home about.

As Geoff Sindelar used to say "nice item" on the elf.

On the 54th street bridge, love that song, but question: I don't see where there is a 54th street bridge in NYC. Which Bridge is that?
