THE BROWNS BOARD

The Train is Leaving the Station

Well Naysayers, cranks, defeatists, grumps and bitches ... tonight you are likely to see in inspired performance after Hue dropped the hammer on some underachievers and pussies this week and told the starters they couldn't sit yet because they hadn't earned it. Should be some great battles for the backup spots and bottom of the roster, I look forward to seeing all of it.

Then I look forward to the Browns pleasantly surprising just about everybody in the world, 95% of this board ... everyone but me, Calfox and four or five others that are HAPPY with the NEW direction of the club, WELCOME Hue Jackson's fresh approach and are IMPRESSED with the commitment to the cause of the new front office.

These are exciting times in Berea, and I enjoy being able to soak in every minute of the process from the beginning, as I truly believe THIS will be an era that we will be proud of, and so much of the foundation is being laid before our very eyes this preseason.

For once, I don't have to hope that we are actually better than the prognosticators say we are, I don't have to worry about it, because we have stripped down to a young, promising nucleus and every win is a blessing, every step of progress is a joy.

RG3 looks terrific, Pryor has been a great surprise, Coleman is healthy and ready to show off his skills as the season approaches and we get Gordon back in Week 5 and he has looked every bit the Best WR in the League the last time he got nearly a full season in. The staff has committed to the starters on the offensive line, a nice mixture of veterans and youngsters from the HOF Tackle to the learning-on-the-job 2nd year first round pick at center. Defensively, Coach Horton's defense is filled with youth and energy, and hungry, healthy guys that are going to get after the football. Danny Shelton is showing flashes of why he was so sought-after coming out of college, the DEs are young and athletic, the ILBs are becoming the leaders we need, and the four young pass rushers have made the old dead wood expendable. Joe Haden is finally healthy again to anchor a secondary where competition is king .. and it is a big night tonight to see who is going to step up with him.

I haven't been this excited before the regular season opener in years. Finally, we have a coach who has BOTH the tough no-nonsense approach this franchise needs AND an offensive scheme that is proven and he is committed to. We won't be guessing out there anymore ... there is one system and one way to do it, and if you aren't fully committed to it, then have a nice career ... somewhere else.

We have a front office that is squeezing value and draft picks out of every thing they can, and if you are not good enough at your job, your replacement is on the way next year. We will do this, our way, until everybody does it right.

Dawgpounders, the next great era of Cleveland Browns football is about to begin ... actually it began several months ago ... but I've given you guys a grace period to spew out that embedded hate and disgust from earlier letdowns. I hope it is out of your system now ... because these Browns are getting ready to launch, and there is no turning back.

Jump on the train, it is leaving Malcontentsviille tonight for the last time ... Fuck the past, fuck jinxes, fuck the Factory of Sadness, fuck bitching just to hear yourself bitch ... I am ALL IN on this team, these players, these coaches and this staff in this city at this time .. I am 100% behind them, I look forward crave the upcoming progress, it is going to be something special.

Jump on. There is plenty of room in the caboose for those last minute types .. I'll be in liquor car toasting the Death of the Ghosts of Cleveland Browns Past.

Here We Go Brownies ...

The Browns will not be good this year Z.

But, it's an exciting time as always, and I always will root for the best for this team. They are just really young, and have a long learning curve as a team ahead of them.

Regardless, I think Hue and the FO have a slight idea of what they are doing, which is leaps and bounds better than what we've had in the past

Stripped down and going to be built up right with a great coaching staff. A lot of good stuff to look forward to. Enjoy.

What year Z, what year? Not 2016 I'm afraid. Sorry- I'm hardly going to enjoy the ton of losses we're sure to rack up this season. I at least wanted to see some competitive football. OK, there were bright spots- Ogbah, and Nassib. The O will improve when Gordon gets back week 5. But we get one TD (with difficulty) on a Bears muffed punt- with our #1s playing their second stringers, and I'm supposed to be thrilled? WOW, way to go guys.

Like the Band's song-The Night they Drove old Dixie Down- look Virgil come quick and see, there went the Andy Lee. Like those 20 yard shanks? Nope, they won't make a difference because who cares if we lose 20-17 or 30-7?

If Hue's mantra was "just trust me on Kessler" um, Dak Prescott he ain't. Colt McCoy, redux is more like it. The sooner you come to the realization this season is a Dumpster Dive for DeShawn- the happier you're going to be.

There was plenty more not to like- but I'll just leave well enough alone at that. :(

I'm more than a little concerned that the Browns didn't look any better in pre-season game 4, then they did in pre-season game 1. I'm all in with Hue and will certainly give him time to win, but I do need to see improvement game-to-game.

Hue and his staff haven't game planned a single game yet, as they were basically just evaluating their guys, so week 1 will be our first true look of what the Browns are and I'm hoping we resemble an NFL team, and one that gets better every week.

I reserve judgement until I see games 9-16. For me that will be the true test of what to expect starting next year. The first 8 games this year are all about finding who is game day and who is not. It's a long process for both new coaches and new players. The train is just loading up through that period. The second half of the season determines whether it's truly ready to leave the station or just derailing again.

Yeah I'm with Hoorta.

Frankly I'm somewhat optimistic for a couple reasons, not for this season but in the long run.

I like Hue Jackson and his apparent attitude, he seems like a positive guy and rumor has it he knows his shit.

I have no such faith in Sashi Brown a bean counter placed into a position of football management. Nor am I excited about a baseball guy picking football players on his laptop. I've never been a fan of RG3 wife it seems he's doing his best to earn his second chance.

I'm tentatively optimistic about getting more pretty good prospects we traded high draft picks for. And missing on the 2nd pick hurts a lot worse when he busts. And somewhere in the group of bodies there should be some acceptable players.

Those acceptable players should come into their own professional football wise at about the same time next year or more like the year after that or the year after that which is only the third year of a program.

If we have an entire roster full of young men who hit their stride about the same time? It could be amazing. And I think Jimmy Haslam is at least committed to 3 years.

Cutting expensive veteran players that won't be part of that program in three years makes some sense I guess. It will suck if it's only to put a few extra Mike Brown style dollars in Jimmy's pocket. It will suck if we are tanking for Deshaun Watson. Number one running quarterback is a big risk and potential huge bust.

And yes preseason is meaningless still getting your ass handed to your first team by their second team should at least raise an eyebrow.

Of course I will watch every game and expect to win every one. But it does get wearysome trying to focus on three years from now.

Well, let's see ... I am happy ... you're the miserable one!

It's the exact opposite of a "dumpster dive" ... it's a rebirth.

We were 3-13 with a horrible GM, no direction, a coach with no chance and idiots like Manziel and Bowe setting the tone.

That was the dead carcass we handed Shashi and Hue. They have spent eight months trimming off the fat and rushing in young talent ... but you can't expect a miracle overnight under any circumstances (so why bitch about it?)

We are a basically an expansion team. A baby deer wobbling on young legs (so why bitch about it?)

Just enjoy it. We are moving forward. All the shit you are bitching and moaning about was caused by previous people making decisions, and previous players failing ... they are all gone, they aren't the 2016 Browns.

We are already getting pleasant surprises Oggie, Nassib, Schobert and Cam ... these guys not only only have their whole careers in front of them, locked in on rookie contracts, but they will get after the QB better than deadwood Kruger and Mingo were pretending too. We have more potential weapons at WR than we have in a long, long, time.

You can be miserable because they are going to lose football games. I choose to look at them as a rebirth, an expansion team, and enjoy the process from the beginning.

You can piss in my Wheaties all you want ... I've got a cupboard full off boxes.

All In.
