I don't like to bring fantasy in to reality, but with our draft position and lack of a 4th round pick, it can make sense to draft a round ahead of the other teams and get some of your targeted players. No matter if Zinter had a 4th round grade, with no pick in the 4th you take him in the 3rd or wait and hope you get a 5th round target. If any of you have played fantasy sports, you know what I am talking about. I think the team sees a potential need for an interior lineman next year and felt it had to get on this year. If Zinter was the next highest graded player at that position, just take him and regroup tomorrow. It's not like a lot of the players we draft from this point forward will even make the team.

Uninspiring picks sometimes turn out to be the right pick. I think he is here to replace Ika. I think Schwartz said Ika can't play in his D. Maybe Hall turns in to a MD Perry type player.

I seem to be in the minority. Unless the Browns are on the clock, the draft is boring.

No doubt. Ony simpletons think you should be playing in the snow and slush. I'd also bet most don't even go to games. IMO if you don't attend 3-4 games a year, your opinion is moot. Big talkers who don't spend money. Pfft. It's easy to say what you want while sitting at home. I go to games and live 600 miles away.

Berry seems to draft a year ahead. We may be deeper at guard today, maybe not so much next year. We also have next year needs at DT. We very well could go that way.

I'd say there is a higher probability we take an interior O-lineman before we would take a LT. The only reason as I see it is there should be better guards on the board than LT prospects. But, as you said, we will see what happens. You never know who might or might no be there.

I don't care one way or the other about the color of the facemasks, but if this board is any indication of the broader public, cool beans. Looks like JW got it right. Just a comment on completion percentage. DB's could mug up on receivers a bit more back then. No doubt that through training QBs are more accurate, but it's not like QBs of old weren't accurate. The rules have changed to help increase the percentage.

It just goes to show that it doesn't matter how or where you made it in to a pro training camp. All that matters is what you do once you are there. No doubt highly drafted guys are going to make the team pretty much no matter what, but being undrafted doesn't mean you are a sure cut. The bottom of the roster is always subject to change. Building the bottom of the roster is just as important as building the top.

I understand the 1 day deal. I guess it makes sense the agent would contact the team about signing his guy to a 1 day deal.

Exactly, Purdy could be another. They don't even need to be that good. There are dozens of UDFA who ended up solid players. Once they get there, the Browns have to "bid" to get them, and the player needs to make a choice between several offers. Lot's of factors go in to that decision. Money, opportunity, and location being the main factors, and not necessarily in that order.

Who started this trend? I agree with Nick. If this is some sort of honorary deal, maybe up the bar a bit. They were both decent players, but hardly candidates for the HOF, or even the ring of honor, or like Haden who was "all in" Cleveland. How is this done? Do the players call the FO to do this or does the FO call the players?

I agree, as I said here: Posted Sunday at 05:11 AM "In a way I like 7th rounders. I see it as a way to get a jump on the undrafted guys....if that makes any sense." All teams like several players on who they don't necessarily think they need to use a draft pick. Adding a pick or two in the 7th and picking them in the 7th guarantees you get at least 1-2 of them. Most of those players are viewed as special team candidates, at least for the early portion of their career and or smaller school players who show promise but didn't play against top competition.

The Brooklyn Brothers is a decent Italian cooking show. These guys aren't gourmet by any means, but more simple home cooking, which is probably more authentic IMO.
