Answers:

1. Of the 43 persons who have been Commander in Chief, twelve of them never served in the military. Of the 31 who had served one of them actually did his service AFTER he was POTUS. Which one?

Millard Fillmore. He served as POTUS prior to the Civil War....but when the war broke out, he was appointed a major of a New York Militia unit he helped form. He had not served in the military prior to that.

2. Four Presidents have been assassinated in office. But another four died while in office of natural causes. Name these four.

William Henry Harrison, Zachary Taylor, Warren G. Harding, FDR

3. Three President's held the office at some point without the benefit of having a party affiliation. Name these 3.

George Washington was elected and served without party affiliation.

John Tyler broke from the WHIG party when he succeeded the deceased WH Harrison. His party wanted him to be considered only an "acting president" and to do those things that they thought WHH would have done.....(butreally only those things they told Tyler that they wanted done). He wanted no part of the "acting president" title, nor of being told what his policies as President should be. So he quit the Whigs and went independent.

Andrew Johnson was a Democrat elected as VP on the ticket with Republican Abraham Lincoln. Lincoln being killed only a month into his new term, many people in the Democratic and Republican parties didn't like Johnson's stances on Reconstruction. So he resigned from the Dems and tried to start a new "National Union" Party...but that effort got nowhere, and the impeachment came down. So he basically served out his term as an independent as he felt all alone for the rest of his term after defeating the impeachment effort.

4. Of the last 15 Presidents (since Calvin Coolidge inclusive) how many have been left handed?

More than you would think: Hoover, Truman, Ford, Reagan, Poppy Bush, Clinton, Obama were all lefties. 7 out of 15. Far higher than the national average of lefthandedness.

5. There are 3 cities in the USA that are the burial site of 2 different Presidents. Name those cities.

Quincy Mass. is where father and son John and John Quincy Adams are buried side by side.

Arlington Va. Site of Arlington National cemetery is where both Taft and Kennedy are buried. Taft just up the hill from JFK.

Nashville, Tenn. is the burial site of both Jackson and Polk., though not together. Jackson out at his Plantation the Hermitage, while Polk is buried right on the Tennessee Capitol grounds.

6. A. Two Presidents are tied for being the tallest to ever hold office. Which two?

Abe Lincoln and LBJ were both 6'4"

B. Which President is the shortest?

James Madison was 5'4"

7. Who is considered to have been the wealthiest President to have taken office?

Kennedy is considered to have been a billionaire in today's money.

Second wealthiest are considered to have been Washington and Jefferson because of their extensive land holdings.

8. Which 5 Presidents attended college in Ohio?

Hayes: Kenyon

Garfield: Hiram

Ben Harrison: Miami, Oh.

Harding: Ohio Central College, now part of Muskingam

Taft: Cincinnati Law School.

9.A. Which President won by the widest margin of total popular vote (gross number)?

Nixon in 1972 with over a 17 million vote margin over McGovern (proudly....this was the first election I was ever able to vote in. I voted for McGovern)

(Reagan had a 16 mill margin over Mondale)

B. Which President got the largest percentage of the popular vote? (note: not the same as A.)

Lyndon Johnson got over 61.5% of the popular vote, the highest percentage ever.

10.A. Who was the youngest President to hold office?

Teddy Roosevelt was only 42 when he succeeded to office after McKinley's assasination.

JFK was the youngest person ever elected to office at age 43.

B. Who was the oldest to hold office

Ronald Reagan was 77 when his second term ended, older than any Prez. has been.

11. Which President lived to be the oldest?

Gerald Ford lived to be 93 years, 165 days old when he died. Second oldest is Reagan who was also 93, but died only 45 days younger than Ford.

Both Poppy. Bush and Jimmy Carter, currently both age 89 could either or both pass Ford, but they need to live 4 more years.

Poppy Bush is only 101 days older than Carter......Bush born 6/12/1924, Carter born 10/1/1924.

12. Which President died the youngest?

JFK, of course, at age 46 years 177 days.

Second was Garfield who was assassinated at 49 years 304 days old.

The President that died of natural causes that lived the shortest was James K. Polk at age 53 225 days.
