Matte, shiny, whatever.

But I think the brown facemask is functional - white reflects light, the dark brown

absorbs light.

Just wonderin...

This is not the new helmet.

NFL and Ridell ended their partnership last year. This is just an old helmet with a matte finish and a new face mask.

not really....Riddell just isnt allowed to brand the helmets anymore.....

players can wear whatever brand or style of helmet they choose, but Riddell was the only one with branding rights....

Now, it all stays the same, but no one has branding rights...

basically, due to all the concussion issues, the NFL has decided not to endorse ANY helmets....leaving themselves out of the 'law suit' equation and making it between the player and the helmet manufacturer of his choice.....

wow. I really don't know what to say about that. I get such douchechills off that organization. They're lucky their sport is so much fun to watch or we'd be over these fuckers a long time ago.

So? Who is now making NFL helmets?

Anybody the player wants.

If I was the NFL, I would allow branding as long as it fell in to font standards and let the players collect whatever royality they could. Much like NASCAR allows branding or the PGA tour does with clubs and balls, such as Tilelist.

Again, this would be the helmet only and it would have to be the standard logo as it has been....be it Adams, Schutt, Ridell, Wilson, etc.

I saw a study that says the helmet has little to do with concussions. In the NFL collisions cause the brain, which is surrounded by fluid, to hit the skull

thereby causing a concussion.

Tell that to the PI attorneys.
