dab7291993
Bridgewater is the man, we need him. Let's just hope Jax or Oak don't get the #1 pick and maybe we can trade up.
Tour2ma
Wow, do I disagree with you on Bridgewater. Not sure what you're talking about. He's missing basically nothing. Definitely missing a few lb's...

But would probably be smarter to go offense early. Free agency will be interesting this year. Any good Corner's gonna be available?
Shep
Oh, we'll add a corner, for sure. Might be free agency. Also a right side blocker, WR, and a RB... in addition to that QB.

Osiris
I like Bridgewater for the one thing nobody has yet to mention. Watch this highlight reel and observe how he evades defenders and avoids sacks. The kid has poise. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=br9-OACeru4
Richiswhere
I just can't see us getting the 4th or 5th pick in next years draft unless we are giving up both are 1st round picks.
Shep
Bridgewater owns the #1 spot. He's about as clean as they come, prospect wise. Did you see that 58 yard pass out of a dirty pocket with his feet less than optimal (as Steve Young discusses)? Did you see his pocket savvy, how naturally he moves around with his eyes downfield? The zip on the out routes? The mobility? The release? He's just about perfect. If you want Teddy Football, you're drafting #1 and that's the end of that. Clowney will go second. He's not dominating like last year, some questions about his conditioning. Everybody else (Mariota, Hundley, Tajh) is a consolation prize. But good ones! Shep
I could see us as low as 9 or even 10. The defense (and its coordinator) is gonna keep us in a lot of games... and I just have this gut that Hoyer is going to be a little too good. Like "pretty damn good." Not so good you wanna hitch your wagon to him but far too good to lose out from here. We could well end up with the 8th and 20th picks... and I just don't know what that gets done, even along with the 40th. Probably not quite enough, especially if the team at #1 wants Bridgewater (like, say, Jacksonville). My dream: Jax gets Freeman and he plays too well for them to draft a quarterback. Bob806
Too early for this IMHO, we have 14 games to go. Only in Cleveland we talk draft and what ifs....let's kick Cincy's ass.
Osiris
With two first round picks, a second round pick, and two third rounders, the Browns do have the ammunition to trade up to the #1 spot.

kamac19
Jimmy Garoppolo, out of Eastern Illinois (Tony Romo's College) FCS QB, but getting some buzz already and few higlights seen, looks like could be worth scouting more come draft time. Kingcob
Just a thought while we're discussing draft picks. Outside of Hoyer and Weeden, Ryan Mallett is a possibility for a veteran player.
lambdo
Bridgewater is just awesome. Mariota, Boyd and Manziel are next in line. (my preference is that order) Anyone that hates on Johnny football has to rewatch the Bama game. He played better the second time he faced them. He is really really sharp. Mariota and Boyd too. Great (maybe greatest on paper?) year to be in the hunt for a QB. Never seen anything like it, and likely has more to do with evolution of college FB more than anything. I can't see Mariota not declaring. He looks great. WIth the rookie wage scales in place, it makes more economic sense to get in as fast as you can now that you cant get a sam bradford bonus. runyon27
I dont care who we pick as long as they get it right. I don't like McCarron or Boyd, but if they pick either one of those two I hope they turn out to be the franchise guy. I am just tired of the QB search. Shep
Brian Hoyer would have to become the story of the year for us to NOT pick a quarterback, especially if it gets deep (Bridgewater, Mariota, Hundley, Boyd, Manziel). I have a sense after Weeden that Chud won't go with another statue (scratch Mallett). Check PFF for how great our line is all of a sudden... with a different quarterback. Hunt Daddy
Chud loved having Cam in Carolina. That's why I wouldn't be surprised if we looked really hard at Mariota or Hundley.

Not like those guys, but certainly well. Yea Bridgewater is mobile, but he's a pass first guy which is what I'd like to see the most. I think with our W on Sunday we've knocked ourselves out of the Bridgewater Sweepstakes.
Sheepdog
I don't see us getting the #1 overall pick this year in the draft. We will win enough games to ensure that doesn't happen. The only way we get #1 overall is trade all of our picks to get up to it. I'm not a fan of sending tons of picks to move up but if it means we get our franchise QB then obviously it is okay. Personally I would rather trade all of our picks this year to move up to #1 than to do what Washington did and trade away their #1 pick for years to come. Shep
There aren't many GMs left who wouldn't trade a whole draft for a franchise QB.
Flyin J
Jacksonville needs a QB worse than we do. You can almost go ahead and slot Bridgewater there.
Shep
It's gonna be tough to beat them out. They're epically bad. But maybe Gabbert comes back and looks as good as he did in the preseason, which was good, and they're out of the race. I think Oakland is getting pretty enamored with Pryor. Not a ton of teams looking for a quarterback. Even the Broncos already have Osweiler learning behind The Greatest. Eagles and Vikings, perhaps. If Vick doesn't find his groove, I could see Chip doing whatever it takes to get to Mariota (whom he coached) or Boyd (who he really wanted to coach). The Vikings could well be looking. Obviously the Jags are a possibility. But really, I think that's it at the top of the draft. I mean, I could see the Cardinals drafting Fales in two or something to groom behind Palmer but they won't go top five or anything. If Bridgewater, Mariota, Hundley, Boyd, and Manziel are all in this draft, you struggle to find landing spots for them. Either the Jags or somebody they trade with will take Bridgewater at #1... then it's kind of a buyer's market. Good reason for Mariota or Hundley to play another year? Flyin J
Vikings will definitely draft a QB if they arent the buyers on Freeman. You may also see the Bucs in there if Glennon doesn't show some promise. Its hard to say on the Eagles, Vicks getting older but can still make plays, they just drafted Barkley and they have Foles. The Raiders just drafted Wilson to put behind Pryor. I could see the Cardinals, Rams, Titans, Chargers, and hell maybe even the Texans getting in on the action as well. Shep
Ponder has a lot of time left this season. I'm not convinced he's toast yet. The Vikings make sense for Freeman... but they also have Cassel. Agree on Bucs. Eagles we'll agree to disagree: In the end, Kelly wants a RO QB and Foles will be a nice trade chip in the offseason. Remember I said this: When the dust clears, Mallett may be elsewhere and Foles may be Brady's true heir apparent. He fits really well and I like that kid as a quarterback. He may time in the high 4s (if not 5) but he's a good athlete, was a great b-bal player, and he can move around WAY better than Brady. Good kid, Patriot type of guy. I like Matt Barkley but I think his physical skill set will limit him to a Cassel-like career (as opposed to Drew Brees, who he looks like on the field when you squint a little). Assuming Vick continues to be Vick (a turnover machine with an IQ in the 80s), I could see Chip getting one of his guys. It's more likely to be Tajh Boyd in their draft slot... and I really don't think Mariota will come out. His completion percentage is pretty bad this year and that's the kiss of death for scouts. The guys the Browns might get access to are Hundley and Manziel. I could see us trading up to 4 or 5 to get Hundley. He's basically a less experienced (but faster) Bridgewater. But now I'm kind of into this whole Hoyer thing. Just for fun.
Flyin J
Agreed. I'm lovin the Hoyer hype, great story for a seemingly wasted season.....but for all we know that could come to an abrupt end in about 50 hours....definitely rooting for the guy. My QB wishlist in order right now is Bridgewater, Hundley, Boyd, Mariota, Manziel, Fales, Carr then Manziel. I want no part of Johnny Football as I see him being a giant bust and as much of a distraction as Tebow. What will be really crappy for the Browns is when all these underclassmen that make the class look great (Manziel, Hundley, Mariota) decide to go back to school then Bridgewater is taken 1st overall.
