  1. baker bounced back for sure, he looks way better when he's not trying to force the ball to OBJ and once he got into a rhythm with short passes. WTF is up with Sandejo? All an opposing QB has to do is throw it to whoever he's covering for some easy yards. Do the Browns seriously not have anyone better at safety? anyway, the Browns seem to be a much improved team based on record, but they still fall apart when going up against winning NFL teams. Still rebuilding... Definitely need some help in the secondary (hasn't this been the case for years now?).
  2. got my hopes up when i saw the thread title, i thought some NFL team signed him. Comeback shoes without a comeback yet? come on JFF, you're not going to endear yourself to anyone that way.
  3. good for him. If this 3 page thread is any indication, he still has the ability to generate excitement/sense of morbid curiosity. Hope he gets back on track and can at least find a backup role on some NFL team.
  4. hated the pick when the Browns drafted him and felt bad for Pettine and Hoyer who got saddled with him. However, I do hope that Johnny makes a turnaround and is able to play football again. I'm more angry at the Browns FO for drafting him with his known problems than angry at JFF for being JFF and don't hold a grudge against him, would be nice if he got his life back on track. Can't say the same for Ray Farmer, huge grudge there for setting the Browns back another few rebuilding years.
  5. i think Manziel has enough potential to not draft another QB in the first round. Even if the Browns part ways with Johnny, I think it would be OK to go with McCown, Davis and Shaw next season. If the Browns stick with the same coaching staff/playbook, it would be better to stick with QBs that know the system rather than throwing another rookie QB out there, especially since there are no QBs coming out this year that scream #2 pick.
  6. i liked to see him on the sidelines talking to his offensive linemen and watching replays. having him under center also seems to open up more holes for crowell, since defenses have to watch both Manziel and the running back. It would be nice to draft a big WR that can win 1 on 1 battles or a TE that can actually block. I think the depth at QB is there, with McCown and either Davis or Shaw backing up Manziel. The Browns need more talent at CB, secondary is not the same without Haden and Tramon is slowing down.
  7. at this point, it doesn't matter who the QB is or if the Browns draft a QB next year, without decent receivers the Browns could still lose with Tom Brady.
  8. Manziel has the extra threat to run, it allows for more flexibility in the run game since the defense has to respect Manziel's elusiveness. Did anyone notice how much better Crowell looked last night compared to other games? Manziel does have some improvements to make in going through his reads, but he did a decent job of getting the ball out quickly and getting rid of the ball instead of taking huge risks. If McCown can start against the Steelers, great, but I would not be upset if Johnny got another start. It seems like he is improving and I'd like to see where his ceiling is. Both QBs give us a chance to win, but I like the extra mobility of Manziel and how it can open up the running game.
  9. even if manziel goes out and totally sucks, i don't think the Browns will draft another QB. It would be nice to have some consistency at that position, I hope they give Manziel as much time as they gave Hoyer to prove he is starter material before pulling the plug on him.
  10. Pettine may use the excuse that the Browns beat the Bengals with Hoyer before, but that again was due to the defense and not anything spectacular Hoyer did. Hoyer got his shot against the Colts and couldn't produce, Colt McCoy looked better against the Colts' secondary. If Pettine isn't afraid to bench others for poor performance (like the running backs and Justin Gilbert) why is he so hesitant on benching Hoyer? It makes me wonder if he knows something we don't about Manziel. In any case, Manziel should get the start; Hoyer has regressed too far and the Colts game was his last chance. I can't imagine the locker room still supporting Hoyer after defense played their hearts out and still came away with a loss.
